The Alpenblick hotel is situated about 655 yards from the center of Grindelwald, right at the ski slope and a bus stop, and offers you nice rooms and tasty food.
Score from 225 reviews Very good
very closed to the cable car of the Jungfrau
i was check in in the weekend. so there were many many school students group together. they were so nosicy!
Quiet environment. Beautiful star sky since low light pollution Helpful and kind staff
Bit far from the main town. If walk may take 15-20 mins. The connecting bus stop at around 6. The train from grindelwald to Grund latest is 19:17. Sometimes may limit the arrangement of your travel.
The hostel is very well located, close to a bus stop and the Männlichen Station. They give me a bus card, and moving in town was no hassle. Breakfast is good, a little better compared to other hostels, with good variety. Helpful staff
Everything was great, except for the bed, it was lower than a regular one and a little uncomfortable.
beds, breakfast, friendliness of staff, storage.
internet access was spotty and should be included in the price. the location is great for quick access to the slopes, but a little less ideal for an evening in the village.
- the team is very friendly and honest (forgot a charger in the room and they were ready to send it per post) - outlook of hostel is very usual, but for overnighting do not need more, because there is everything, what is needed - accessebility to play a lot of different games with family or friends
good view & location good staff
The receptionist is always not there; there is no kitchenware really you can use to cook by yourself; with winter timetable, the buses reach to the hostel run one per hour, which is really inconvenient and the last bus starts from train station is before 8 pm, on Sunday before 6 pm.
2 mins walk to Grand station, especially good if you brought the morning discount ticket to Junghrau. So clean and organized from a hostel standard.
No kitchen facilities - there was a microwave only. As eating out in Switzerland is very expensive this would have been very helpful. Only one restaurant nearby - all others at least 20 mins walk away uphill - can get the free bus but this stops soon after 7pm. Showers two floors down
value for the money,\ good view to the mountains, free breakfast, clean sheets, clean bathrooms.
reached a bit late after 9 had to walk 15 min to get to the hotel since the service of picking up from grindenwald train station. the hotel is in grindenwald grund.
Easy access to Jungfrau mountain train, reasonable price, 24 hours operating reception desk
Not so clean room and beds, old & humble facilities
Everything was as expected for a dorm room. Clean. Kind staff.
Everything was fine. Value for money. Hostel gave us a free pass for the local busses.
Grindelwald is a great location/home base for hiking in the mountains, and there are beautiful views around the hostel.
We have stayed in many hostels in the Middle East and Europe, and this one was not quite worth the expense. You have to pay extra for towels; the shower was quite a distance from our room in another wing of the hostel altogether; the breakfast was only fair. All of this meant that the fee of nearly $200 for one night was not really worth it. For individual travellers, the cost might be worth it in what is an expensive area; for a family of 4, better deals in local hotels can be found.
right next to the station station.
I do not consider charging 10 Swiss Francs/day on a 4 yrs old for very simple breakfast as kids friendly...
Good atmosphere and Nice people working at reception
location, cuz i can see the mountain from hostel. that was very nice.
also location. cuz too far from main station. i have to taje a bus from main station. and there was nothing near the hostel just mountain.
The view is really beautiful
Helpful receptionist, clean place, big lockers in the rooms.
1. No front desk staff is available from 12:00 pm. till 16:00. and after 21:00. So, if you arrive at 12:15 p.m. - bad luck... you have to wait until 16:00 to check in. That happened to us. 2. No kitchen to cook.
Clean, comfortable, use of bbq to make dinner (plan to cook everything on the grill). great swiss style breakfast, free bus pass. Right at the mountain train station and one of the cablecars so if you are going up the mountain it is real handy.
A bit of a walk from the train station although if you take the bus it drops you off right there. Walking is about 15 min from station downhill but about 20 min or more going back up.
We stay in the four people room with mountain view for two nights. Unfortunately we can't see the mountains because of the bad weather. The lady in the reception is very busy but very nice to every customer. The room for a hostel is clean and comfortable with basin inside. Nice breakfast with yogurt and choco-milk! Sound proof is good.
Water provided in some shower room was not hot enough...
Good breakfast, nice room and views
Staff only around for half the day and distinctively unpleasant and hostile
Almost everything room is big enough
wifi is not working on two out of four days in our staying no kitchen
Staff were accommodating of our late check-in, pleasant, quiet room
Card machine wasn't working; had to pay cash -- lucky we had enough!
