Hotel Oberland  

The location of this hotel is absolutely perfect. The staff is friendly and extremely helpful. Our room was very comfortable and quiet, the shower water pressure and hot water were perfect, the views were incredible. We ate in the restaurant several meals--it was excellent. The complimentary breakfast was well-rounded with lots of fresh choices and plenty of food. In short, we love this hotel and will come back if/when we have a chance.

We enjoyed the welcome, the beautifully cooked evening meals, including a lovely crocodile Thai soup! Delicious. It was part of some Australian specials. There were also many Swiss dishes on the menu. The breakfast buffet was good with perfectly cooked boiled eggs. The location was perfect for train to Wengen or to drive to other places. Ursula was very attentive as we're all her staff. The bedrooms were good and the beds extremely comfortable. Very clean. We will return in the spring.

It was very hot in the bedrooms but village so peaceful at night opening the window made for a good nights sleep.

Hotel Oberland was everything we had expected and more...Our skiing holiday in Lauterbrunnen was a highlight of our World trip due to the warm and friendly environment Mark and Ursula provided whilst staying at their Hotel! I highly recommend this hotel for its good value, close to Rail, ski hire and Location, Location!!!

The bathroom was small and very dated, it was clean but improving the bathroom would improve our overall opinion from good to excellent.

The hotel was located close to the Lauterbrunnen station and there is a corp on the way which was very convenient.

The room was small with squeaky floor and low ceiling (approx. 2m). Squeaky floor also means you can hear people above your room walking around. The bathroom was also small and dark, and shower booth was even darker. (hardly read the letters on my shampoo bottle) With the tiny sink, I had trouble washing my face. The bed was short in length (approx. 1.8m) with footboard. I am about 1.7m tall, but found it a little tight. So this (single) room is not recommendable for those over 1.8m. (things might be different in other rooms)

The room was clean and wide than I thouhgt. View of the terrace was beautiful. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Neighorhood is important to me and it satisfied me, too. It is near the station, so it will help you to move to other places.

It is noisy when someone walks around because the floor is made of wood. When I wanted to sleep, it made me not easy to sleep. I think it is a kind of manner not to walk around when others sleep. (especially after 22:00)

A lovely view of the Staubbach falls from our little terrace (and also from the bed). The lady at the front desk was extremely helpful and friendly and helped us get to the Trümmelbachfälle when we first checked in.

Kind of pricey for a 3-star hotel.

Lauterbrunnen is a fabulous valley setting within the Swiss Alps with view of the massive Jongfrau, Eiger and other mountains. Within this small village is the Hotel Oberland, centrally located, top ranked and with the towns best restaurant (try the Swiss Rosti and Fondue separately for two dinners) looking over the Wengen upper valley ski village. I had a wonderful 3 day stay with my 22 year old son, who had been backpacking across Europe and needed some parent-paid accommodation, food, beer and outdoor activities including paragliding off a cliff, bungee jumping off a cable car, and sky-diving off a helicopter. Make sure you take a 20 minute walking/cable/train trip to Murren on the sunny days. Loved the place and will definitely be back.

Liked just about everything about the Hotel Oberland. Staff/service was excellent. Location was very good- easy walk to train station and great central location to all the sites. Food was absolutely great. The owners were engaging, friendly, and helpful. Would absolutely recommend this hotel.

The hotel seems a little bit old. We felt shaking when the uppoer floor's traveller step on the floor.

The view! The food! The location! The friendly owners! This is one of the most beautiful places in Europe.

Lugging our suitcases up 4 flights wasn't too fun, but definitely worth the room with a balcony.

Great location and fantastic views. Good price for the area. Very friendly and personable hotel hosts who went out of their way to familiarise me with the area and make my stay comfortable. I was making an early start one morning and they made a good breakfast to go.

Rooms are small, but this is more than made up for with the charm and service of the hotel. Room size may only be an issue if you are hanging around the hotel all day, and not exploring this beautiful paradise.

We felt fortunate to be able to stay in the Hotel Oberland in Lauterbrunnen for three nights. The rooms are attractively appointed and very clean. The views of the valley from the windows and balcony were outstandingly gorgeous. The staff was extraordinarily helpful and friendly and spoke excellent English. The "breakfasts included" were among the very best we have ever had in a hotel/motel. We would highly recommend this hotel.

You can't beat the location of this hotel. While on some maps it looks like the hotel is a short distance off the main street in Lauterbrunnen, it is actually in the heart of the town. The hotel is within easy walking distance to the post office, grocery, train station, aerial cable way station to Grütschalp (and the rail line from there to Mürren). We found the town delightful and can't wait to return. Our room overlooked Staubach Falls and the Jungfrau. Spectacular. On Saturday evening, we had dinner outside on the front porch, enjoying the wonderful hotel's cheese fondue dish. This is not a luxury hotel nor does it have the pretense of being one, though, for a relatively inexpensive hotel, the bed(s) were very comfortable. The room was also a good size especially for a European hotel. The bathroom was small but perfectly functional. The hotel provided parking (at no extra charge) across the street from the main entrance. That was very convenient. The owners and staff could not have been nicer and more helpful.

Lauterbrunnen may be the most beautiful place on Earth. This hotel is the highest rated (at the time of my review) hotel in the most beautiful place on Earth... Do I need to say more? :) We enjoyed our stay, had a gorgeous view out of our window on the third floor (room 38). It's worth the hike up the stairs with your luggage, trust me! Rooms are nice. Shower was elevated and I had to duck to not hit my head (I'm 6'1" only). Otherwise, a great, great place and we're happy to have stayed here. The staff were so nice and did a lot for us, going out of their way actually. Don't think twice!

Breakfast. They said "Breakfast was included." They should have said "Continental Breakfast Included." But as the front desk pointed out... Its a very good breakfast for a 2 star.....

We stay there for 3 nights and were very pleased with outstanding welcom feeling. Ursula make sure your stay is great. Breakfast was very nice. And nothing can beat the view from our room with a balcony and majestic Swiss Alps.

From the moment we arrived the staff made us feel very welcomed. We had travelled by an overnight train so were longing for a shower. The staff juggled rooms which enabled us to check in early which was appreciated. The room was spacious, with a balcony. The staff assisted us in planning our day. Breakfast was good and we ate at the Restaraunt both nights and enjoyed the rosti! Drinks on the front porch were also relaxing.
