Area information

Saas-Almagell is the most southerly village in the Saas Valley, on the south side of the Valais, and is situated at 1,600 metres above sea level. It is a family-friendly resort with an idyllic atmosphere which owes its fame not least to three ski stars: Pirmin, Heidi and Silvan Zurbriggen. The chair-lift takes you to Furggstalden (at 1,900 metres) and on to Heidbodme (at 2,400 metres).

Saas-Almagell is a snowsure ski resort with many sports and leisure opportunities: fitness trail, minigolf, ice skating, tennis, cross country skiing, natural ice rink, hiking (280 kilometres of hiking trails and groomed winter hiking trails), mountaineering and rock climbing.

Travel information

By car:

Visitors travelling by car from the north travel via Bern through the Lötschberg tunnel (car-train), from the east via the Furka Pass (or car-train) and from the south via the Simplon Pass (or car-train). You reach the Saas Valley from the west of Switzerland via Lausanne and through the Rhone Valley to Visp.

By train:

Visitors travelling by train travel to Brig or Visp and change to the post bus with the direct destination 'Saas-Fee'. There are half hourly connections until 20:45 from Brig and 21:10 pm from Visp. Check your luggage in at your local station and collect it at the bus station at the Saas Valley post offices. With the opening of the Lötschberg base tunnel, visitors travelling through Switzerland from the north can benefit from a travelling time reduced by one hour.
