Not enough lights in the room. Not very clean. We booked two nights and stayed one night.
Had a magic time here. From the (terrifying!) cable car up and seeing the Pension for the first time... it was a special moment for me. I stayed in the dorm which was really cosy and comfortable. It was a quiet atmosphere there so early rising for hikes was easy - that's one of the reasons I went for this rather than the hostel. After a knackering day it was nice to come back and chill. I found I met some really cool, likeminded people here who were respectful of the quiet atmosphere but still had chats and socialised. The staff were all brilliant, really friendly guys. The view is epic from the terrace. Can't recommend enough!
The location was beyond. The moment you stepped off the gondola you knew you were in a special place. Then sitting on the deck in the back looking at the sheer magnitude of the cliff faces was priceless. The staff was friendly, the food was good and all in all a great hostel experience
Nothing - the price/value ratio made it all work.
great location good value for money
too many beds in the dorm
Comfort of main room...friendly staff...stupendous view.
Price. Too high for sharing tiny bath with so many people. Staff were friendly but not committed. Seemed ready to head for home.
Gimmelwald is a special place and Pension Gimmelwald could be so much more. The views were superb.
The building is in need of attention. Service was so so....young staff could benefit from additional training on service. Food was okay. Breakfast was a little too simple.
Good accommodations. A bit overpriced for what it is.
The food was overpriced and terrible.
Location, cost compared to Interlaken, views, hikes
no bathroom in room, but undestandable
Staff was extremely welcoming and helpful
Great location near the cable car. Very nice staff. Village, I heard from a local, is great for getting anything Alp (cheese, milk, etc). Great base to hike to or from Murren and other villages.
Nothing, really. A bit more social stuff going on the other hostel nearby- but you can drop in there, make friends, then come back to the quiet, cosy hostel ;)
Immense location in beautiful village below Alps. Stunning location , historic village. Very comfortable Pension with delicious food. Friendly relaxed atmosphere. Excellently clean facilities . Would definitely return for longer stay .
Very little soundproofing between rooms because of age of hotel.
Location is great. Comfort is nowhere to be found
Low ceilings .

Beautiful time in Gods creation! Perfect in every way. Thank you.
Loved the area, how fun the staff and other people at the hostel were. It is very basic but kind of expect that in the high mountains. Food was very good considering again where it is at. It is a steel of a deal when you think about the high cost of doing anything in Switzerland.
Flys everywhere. It rained the entire time we where there.
The home and thowners and staff and owners!
No basic kitchen, as they have a operating restaurant.
This place is fantastic. The staff makes you feel like family. The food is very, very good. The view is gorgeous. And the atmosphere was absolutely magical. This is a very special place.
The only downside to our stay at Pension Gimmelwald was that none of us wanted to leave when it was time to go home. We should have scheduled more time there.
You can't get a better location that's close enough to what you need, and distanced away from what you don't.
It felt like a hostel. And there were hundreds of flies which they said they couldn't control during the summer months. Luckily our room was safe -- but the beds could've been more comfortable for the price.
A pension with 2 toilets and 2 showers made for an easy night for us old folk. It was a few steps away from the Mountain Hostel where we put the grand-kids. The food and drinks were great with unbeatable views of the Alps. The atmosphere outside the bar was very conducive to getting to know fellow travelers.
Very pricey food for us USA folk, and the flies drove us inside to eat. Walls are thin, but with the low occupancy while we were there we were not bothered too much.
Beautiful location and wonderful scenery
I was so shocked at the condition. Not clean with clean (or perhaps dirty) laundry lying around in huge baskets. Carpets dirty and unvacuumed. Place was crawling with flies landing on both food and guests. Owners allowed their toddler daughter to unload the dishwasher and handle all the silverware after crawling along the dirty floor.
Location Restaurant on site Great staff
Bathroom down the hall
The friendly staff, the cleanliness, the backpackers daily dinner special!
It was a blast being in Gimmelwald and staying in one of a few hotels there. The staff was friendly and accommodating. It's an old, creaky, wooden house with lots of authenticity.
Fantastic Staff, felt very safe and welcome, especially travelling alone.
Because it is wooden, you could hear a lot of what of what was going on in the other rooms.
