This mountain guest house is located in Cavaglia, the highest village in Poschiavo Valley. It offers spectacular views of the Palü Glacier, a restaurant, and free Wi-Fi. In winter, Rifugio Cavaglia can only be reached with the Rhaetian Railway. The station is only 300 metres way. In summer, it is also accessible by car in a 30-minute drive from Poschiavo. Rooms here are bright, with views of the Bernina Massif. They all have central heating. The flooring and ceilings are made of wood. Local dishes are the speciality at Cavaglia Rifugio’s restaurant. The drinks menu includes wines from the Italian region of Valtellina. In summer, you can have your meals on the garden terrace, while taking a view of the wonderful landscape. Beautifully located just 5 minutes walk from Cavaglia Rail Station. The scenery and the peace are just wonderful. And it was sunny! The owners and their family were very friendly and helpful. Half board is available and recommended. Travel up by train to Ospizio Bernina station and walk back down to Alp Grum or Cavaglia. The scenery is stunning. Take the newly created "Glacier Garden" walk at Cavaglia to the stunning glacial "Marmittes."

Heartfelt hospitality! Wonderful dinner - simple, yet refined and subtle the Italian way. My booking was almost spontaneous - made some 48 hours in advance...but my choice of the remote Cavaglia (a small rural train station on the famous Rhetische Bahn through the Swiss Alps) really felt as one lucky punch! Go for the double room with thw two big antique beds and old images of generals and a man with a bowler hat...

Sehr schoen und ruhig gelegen, umgeben von einer prächtigen Bergwelt. Romantische und gemuetliche doppelzimmer. Sehr freundliches Personal. In allem sehr empfehlenswert.

Die Crew war sehr nett. Das, im Preis inbegriffene, Frühstück war reichhaltig und gut. Das Rifugio liegt mitten im Dorf Cavaglia an einem rauschenden Bächlein. Das Dorf ist verkerhsfrei und demenstprechend ruhig. die Stille wird einzig vom quitschen der schönen, roten, Rhätischen Bahn unterbrochen, die stündlich entweder nach Tirano oder St. Moritz fährt. Es führen auch schöne Wanderwege nach Poschiavo oder zu verschiedenen Maiensässen. Wenn man Ruhe und Stille sucht, ist das Rifugio Cavallo bestimmt eine gute Adresse. Zum Frühstück habe ich die einheimischen Produkte, zum Beispiel das typische Brot und puschlaver Käse vermisst (es gab Emmentaler oder Brie und gewöhnliches, weisses Brot)
