눉BEWARE. This hotel has two buildings: the main building and an annex. Rooms are the same price in each building, but are NOT the same quality. Our first room (in the annex) -- a "design" room -- was terrible: threadbare towels, stained carpet outside door, urine smell in bathroom, mildew in shower, broken table, small dormer window, a large, frightening orange painting on the wall behind the bed, and an uncomfortable bed (two twins pushed together). We literally bumped our heads on the ceiling when we tried to sit in the chairs next to the broken table. I booked this hotel for our 50th wedding anniversary. Needless to say, I was VERY disappointed with our room.
눇The staff worked hard to get us into a "classic" room, and moved us for the end of our stay. It was much better, to say the least -- it was what we expected from a 4-star hotel. However, I was told I should have asked for a "classic" room when I booked. Really???? I'm supposed to know the difference?? Even though they made things right (thank you, Beda and the other concierges), my stay will forever be colored by our extreme shock and disappointment with our first room.
In our second room, we had people overhead with children who literally rattled the chandelier in the room (yes, the classic room has a chandelier) playing. Staff worked hard to ask them to tone it down, which I very much appreciate.
