Overlooking Lake Lucerne and the Alps, this guesthouse in Meggen is just 4 miles from Lucerne. It offers free Wi-Fi and a traditional Swiss restaurant with a summer terrace.
Score from 180 reviews Very good

All wooden building, very noisy, no desk to work at. Very low ceilings, rooms too hot.
Why, the view, of course! Behind the hotel there's a view of the Alps, Mt. Rigi, Mt. Pilatus. Even better when the sky is clear. The staff was verryyy friendly and eager to explain spots to visit. Thanks Christopher who walked us to our room while story-telling the history of the hotel. The room is clean and tidy, breakfast is yummy in a european way. Shower is hot. Practically nothing to complained for. WiFi was superb! Will be sleeping here again if visiting Luzern!
For people 170cms and above I think they will find a bit difficulties since the ceiling is not quite high. Anyway, its a really worthy place to stay!
the location, the restaurant, the piano bar, the price for the room
The hotel is located in a old construction and the room are just above the restaurant. the walls were very thin and you could hear people walking above you. Actually, we were waken up by the persons leaving in the higher floor.
good facilities and nice breakfast
extra costs in renting room, different from booking.com
That I got another room for an upgrade price and without annulation costs.
In a hotel we want rooms with own bathrooms and toilets. I got another room after asking and insist it. But my business partner did not get another room because they said they had not room avaiable. But according booking.com there were still rooms avaiable.
We are staying in the hotel for several Years and they gave us always an upgrade, suddenly this stopped. We regret this but are aware this not a right to claim.
This is a 400 years old barn changed into a hotel. I liked the theme through out. Lovely location, 5 mins walk from lake. You can't find any staff at this reception, you have to look for every other place for reception staff other than reception. Go to the big hotel opposite and check in and come back to this lovely building for your room. Excellent breakfast.
Bed were quite old and noisy. they need fixing up.
Nice pool, friendly staff, good wifi
high dinner prices, low ceiling
Staff is nice
Far from city center, no public transport, stay at wooden house - far from all the hotel facilities (need to cross street for sauna)
Free swimming pool and sauna nearby. Free and empty parking. Next door shop. Professional personnel.
Toilet and shower on the floor. Noisy and creaky old building. Weak wi-fi. Dim light in the room. Very small and uncomfortable beds.
Location Food Cleanliness Staff
The location was great, and facilities available were unexpected. They provide paddle boats, a secluded park, pool and sauna.
The bed was a little stiff, and the rooms were a bit stuffy to wake up to.
Jessica was very good at her job and helped us with instructions about the hotel and the places to visit.
The hotel had many hunted animals heads and horns hanging on the walls like prices for the open season and it causes a very creepy felling and it is really not something nice to show to kids.
So not quite sure if this counts as a review for Swiss Chalet because they actually upgraded us a to a suite in one of their other properties for no reason! We didn't pay a dime more and were trifold compensated with excellent accommodations at the Jagdschloss (spelling?). Either way management is excellent. Very warm and welcoming. You can use facilities from their other properties like renting a paddle boat for free! There's a train stop that can take you directly into Luzern. We were too cheap at this point since Switzerland is expensive and decided to drive our car which turned out to be cheaper parking in the Casino garage. Absolutely beautiful and definitely recommend.
nice food! nice people! nice view! free parking!
The personnel at the restaurant Swiss Chalet is very arrogant. They certainly do not like families with small children. Unfortunately, there are not many options to have dinner in this village. It is an unfortunate and a big contrast to the personnel at the hotel, who is very helpful and professional.
Locate besied the lake, have a nice lake view.A little bit far from city certer .Just convieninece for driving a car.Long histroy house with beautiful flower, a special experience.
The hotel is very clean and walking distance from train and bus station. There is train every hour to Lucerne and takes about 15min. We had swiss pass so no issue for us. But definitely a great place to stay if you have car. Enjoyed the breakfast every morning. We didn't have the car so staff dropped us at the train station. Very friendly staff.
environment，nicelack，old style of building. Excellent breakfast.
Wifi in room only everning available
One particular waitress was not very helpful
Nearness to Lucerne and the lake for swimming Fairly good breakfast but it was not served in our building, we had to cross to another one the Golden Gate The room was like staying in a castle and was very roomy and comfortable
The hotel has a number of buildings worth checking out in advance which one you're in - we had no facilities in ours the pool was in the Schloss building and the sauna and whirlpool (which was cold) were in the Golden Gate building. We thought we had booked for the Swiss Chalet building (as in the pics) but ended up in an annex of the Golden Gate.
breakfast was very good
The area, Close to railway station. Hotel clean.
Toilet and Shower shared with other guests. Dinner expensive.
Our room was actually upgraded once we complained about the place we got given. The upgraded room was very nice, but be prepared to spend a lot if you actually book one of these rooms!
On arrival, we were apparently upgraded to a shack behind the main 4 star hotel that was just made of flimsy plywood. We complained and were upgraded to a habitable room after a few back and forth arguing.
