great hotel, splendid views, rich breakfast. recommended
wifi only in the main building
It is a lovely family run hotel with very good views of Eiger's Mittelegi ridge and North-East ridge. The atmosphere is that of a typical Swiss chalet and the host ladies make sure that you don't step out without a sumptuous breakfast.
From my balcony and for that matter from any part of the hotel , I could not view the Nordwand. For an Eigergazer like me that was very important. Made up by gazing at the Wetterhorn which appears almost within touching distance and the Schrekhorn.
فريق العمل والاستقبال ودود ولطيف جداً ويعيشك جو عائلي والجو العام للفندق الهدوء والبعد عن الصخب Very pleasant and respective stuff .. pleasantly comfortable and my feeling was like a family inside my home
Only the limitation and position of car parking
Spotless bath tub and plenty of piping hot water.
Slightly let down by lack of staff cheerfulness.
The staff was very helpful & nice. Breakfast was very good. The room was comfortable.
The location isn't handy because you have to pull your luggage up a fairly steep hill.
The view from our bedroom could not have been better. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. The food was good and the hotel was nicely furnished and beautifully clean.
The climb from the car park is very steep.
The view from our balcony was wonderful ! The restaurant staff was soooo nice!
The climb! The glass door on the bathroom is terrible, watching someone relieve themselves is not necessary !
The views were great, breakfast was good, the room we were staying was clean, cozy and spacious.
Staff wasn't so friendly, Wifi worked only in the lounge which was locked after 9 pm. Because we were not staying in the main building where the lounge is, we couldn't access to the internet at nicht, which was very inconvenient. The Bathroom was very small, too.
Wonderful vision in the room and interesting style of decoration. The manager, an old lady, is lovely and friendly.
breakfast is too simple
Checking in was easy and I was made to feel very welcome. Lovely breakfast including local yoghurts, homemade jams, cereals, croissants, breads and a selection of meats, cheeses and spreads. Really amazing views of the Eiger. My room (superior single) had a wonderful balcony and deck chair to take it all in. There were even one or two walking poles to borrow, which was handy as you can't take them as hand luggage. I thought it was good value for money, especially for Switzerland.
View from the hotel
The steep approach road to the hotel
The views were amazing across the valley. It was very close to town. I was running the Eiger Ultra Trail Marathon and had to be at the start very early, so they arranged for another hotel to provide breakfast for me. And it was so quiet: great when you need some sleep!
I likes the building and our room and view.
The woman at the from dest was so rid to me I thought she literately hated me. We could not wait to get out of there.
The staff was incredibly friendly and hospitable! We were amazed by the beautiful views from our own room's balcony and from the restaurant. They made us feel very welcome. On the last day we had to leave before breakfast, so the staff made a special lunch box for us to take on our journey. We would recommend this place to everyone!
The fact that we had to leave. We wished we could have stayed longer.
Room very comfortable. Lovely views from the bedroom and from the dining-room as the hotel sits up on the hill above the town. Very good breakfast.
Is a bit of a walk up from the parking area which took us a bit to find.
Amazing view of the valley and mountains, good breakfast. Close to the station.
Wi-fi did not reach to my room. While the hotel is located close to the station, it is quite high above, which can be difficult if carrying a large bag. Not recommended for anyone with mobility issues. Hotel decor is quite dated as well.
The views of the Eiger and Grindelwald from our balcony were magnificent. The family run hotel staff were very friendly and helpful with information about lifts and hiking trails which we thoroughly enjoyed. Excellent breakfast with freshly baked bread, Bircher muesli, fresh fruit salad, locally produced meats and cheese in their selection. We had a wonderful four days hiking around the area and up to the Jungfraujoch where the walk in the snow up to the restaurant rewarded us with spectacular views.
The unfriendlyness of the owneress, double room incredibly small, so small, you could not pass the, no parking, to get to the Hotel, you have to climb a slope, some one there to help you but gives you a dirty look for every suitcase he has to put on his trolley.
brilliant views / friendly & helpful owners , staff / comfy & clean room .
Great elevated location close to the centre of Grindelwald and 5 minutes from the train station. Views spectacular of the Eiger and surrounding mountains. Hotel comfortable, friendly and well presented. Highly recommended certainly more than it's 2 star rating.
Note to visitors you may need snow chains in Winter to gain the car park.
It was lovely, reasonably priced and great views. The staff were also very pleasant.
The slope up to the hotel is a death trap in winter. The hotel needs to take responsibility for clearing it of snow and gritting it.
I am a regular guest at this hotel and know the staff very well. It's almost like home.
The hotel is located on a hill and it can be a little bit challenging in icy conditions.
An excellent budget hotel in a great location near the train station. I would 100% stay here again on my next visit to Grindelwald
Attempting to walk from the station to the hotel up a very steep incline with black ice on the path. Perhaps complimentary crampons should be included in the room :-)
