Starling Hotel Lausanne    

The staff is efficient and kind. The rooms are very confortable and have a nice view. It is very close to the epfl and the University. The metro station is also very close and you can arrive at the center in a few minites. Remark: The old part of the city is 4 km away, and so it is not really a reasonable walking distance.

New, clean, spacious, modern design

No sound barrier between bedroom and toilet / shower; from the bedroom you will hear every sound being made in the toilet!

Breakfast buffet was ok, but I have seen better!

Room was comfortable, bright, quiet. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food was good.

Design, comfort, cleaniness. Public transport free card. Free shuttle for city centre in the morning and evening. Very close to epfl (Technical University)

The shower drain was blocked so I had huge volumes of water flooding outside all over. Slipped and fell. Staff apologized and promised to give me an upgrade on my future trip which was hardly any compensation for the shock, the time wasted, wet clothes etc. TV had no news channels. Hotel was further from city centre by taxi than it seemed on map. Since I had heavy bags, public transport was not an option.

the hotel was very clean and modern

it was very much a business hotel which made me feel uncomfortable as there were seminars in progress every day and that seemed to take over the reception and restaurant.

Location, design, view

Only the location is worth mentioning.

Very nice designer rooms, spotlessly clean, and quiet. Very convenient for epfl - campus is 2 mins walk away.

It's very poor value for money, even for Switzerland. Breakfast frankly is a disgrace for 25 chf. Little things, like the provision of coffee in the room, were mean. Finally, the level of service at the front desk and breakfast was really quite poor - the customer is not king at this hotel.

The modern design of the rooms with the open plan bathroom area. The beds were extremely comfortable and the air conditioning was very welcome.

Breakfast is extremely expensive and is simply not worth the money. Much of the buffet was gone when I arrived at 9.15 even though breakfast is served till 10am and none of the staff seemed interested in filling the empty bread basket, teabag selection, hot food servers leaving a very limited choice for breakfast. Given the high price charged, this should have been a priority.

Very friendly welcome from competent staff who helped to find a restaurant open late in Lausanne and recommended a v good italian. Lovely rooms with huge comfy beds and slick modern design everywhere. Sheets and pillows felt great and had a very good, quiet night's sleep. Free wifi is available to guests. Hotel is located on the extensive university campus, which is in the countryside so views of the lake are fab. Lots of space around the buildings and hotel. Would stay again at the rates we got through booking.com

Having to pay for indoor parking by the hour a bit cheeky, but we found a space outside so didn't have to in the end. Cooked breakfast was a bit pricey but the continental was fine and bread and pastries fresh and tasty. Layout of rooms means you light up the bedroom when going to the loo in the night. They could resolve this by blacking out the glass screen between the sink and the room but it looks good so they won't want to do that I guess. Would think it expensive if paying full rate because of location-city centre prices 5 km out of town.

It's a very nice hotel with good facilities. It's not in the center but very close to the metro. One can easily get into the center within about 40 mins.

Short distance to Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne. Orderly booking and reception.

High meal prices. Unusual food for many guests. Setting the cansellation charge equal to the room price and charging the full amout at the time of booking is very expensive for the guest if the stay has to be cancelled because of e.g. illness or a cancelled event, even thouh the cancellation takes place a long time in advance.

A bit overpriced given the location out of the city centre. Car park is a bit expensive.

Cool position near lake, in the green.

What do you get for CHF 270.--? A room with TV. Prices are just crazy, No breakfast, parking to be paid extra. Additionally you hear every single little sound from the neighbor room. Check-in was very slow.

I liked the rooms.

The hotel advertises a basic price to get you to book with them. My group were charged 25 chf each for breakfast each morning, and this was a very basic breakfast. The hotel also charges 16 chf per day for parking. When all these hidden charges are added up it makes for one very expensive stay. Avoid this hotel
