Whilst we had asked for a double bed, the hotel only had twin rooms left and would only consider giving us a double bed if we paid 60 CHF to upgrade to a riverside room. This seemed like a missed opportunity to make a guest's stay a little nicer, especially given we were only there for one night and checking out in 11 hours.
On the back of deciding to do a spur of the moment shopping trip in Foxtown, we booked the Swiss Diamond Hotel due to its proximity and late night check in.
Our room was large, traditionally decorated, had comfortable beds and a good sized bathroom with a excellent bath that magically evolved into a jacuzzi. We especially liked the various bathroom goodies on offer and the well-stocked mini bar.
We went down to the bar for a quick snack/drink and entered what can only be classed as cruise ship entertainment - it was brilliant and certainly a great way to unwind after a long drive. Breakfast in the morning was fine, if not a little basic but it was included in the price.
Whilst the hotel was set in a picturesque setting and provided a good spot to stay, I'd still look around before choosing to head back if only to save on what is quite an expensive residence.
