The family-run Tresa Bay Hotel right on the banks of Lake Lugano is just 30 minutes by shuttle train from the center of Lugano.

The shuttle train runs every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes on weekends.

Enjoy the marvelous terraced bar, restaurant and pizzeria on Lake Lugano, open 360 days a year, which is easily accessible for disabled guests (lake-side entrance).

The bar is open from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Snacks and sweets are also available. The restaurant is open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and has a large choice of dishes. The Pizzeria is open from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.. It is closed on Tuesdays.

A rich breakfast buffet is served daily from 6:30 a.m. ( 7:30 a.m. on Sundays) 10 a.m. in the terraced restaurant.

Room service is available from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. For warm dishes please refer to the restaurant/pizzeria opening hours.

The restaurant is also available for business lunches, as well as for family events and large banquets and wedding parties (maximum of 160 seats).

Half board is available if you stay at least 3 nights.

Area information

Ponte Tresa is an ideal starting point for many excursions, sports and recreational activities as well as for shopping. Within a 5-minute walk you reach the Italian border, where every Saturday a very well known market takes place and where stores are open also on Sunday morning. A shuttle train takes you every 15 minutes to the heart of Lugano (Saturday and Sunday every 30 minutes).

We had to argue with the hotel staff to get compensated, and even then the compensation wasn't enough to make up for three nights with loud noise and our five- month old baby crying because of the noise. Anonymous Group of friends Switzerland July 10, 2011	When we arrived and parked our car outside the hotel, we were very disappointed. All we saw was a boring square building. The side facing the lake where all the rooms were was much better. The hotel was a bit away from all the tourist attractions, but we fully enjoyed the peaceful environment. Despite it is not close to town, the train was just across the street which made it very convenient. The buffet breakfast was very good. I made a mistake on the booking, instead of booking it for June, I booked it for July, and I only found out the day before our departure. I called the hotel, there was no problem changing our reservation. They even offered a free upgrade when we arrived. I am sure the hotel much rather us coming in June then in July when it's peak season, nevertheless it was a very nice gesture on their part. Anita Family with older children Basel, Switzerland November 4, 2011	Lage, Aussicht auf den See, grosse Zimmer mit Balkon (den wir auch jeden Tag genutzt haben), Schwimmingpool, nahe der Grenze, Ausflugsmöglichkeiten, Wandern gleich vom Hotel aus, Postauto oder die Bahn gleich beim Hotel, Super Essen kompliment an den Koch, Super Bedienung, Restaurant mit sich auf den See, Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Shoopen und Markt auf der italienischer Seite, Parkplatz und an der Rezeption war sooo ein freundlicher Empfang man fühlte sich gleich gut Aufgehoben und das finde ich sehr wichtig!!!!! Anonymous Family with young children Switzerland September 20, 2011	Die Nähe zum See. Das Hotel liegt direkt am Lago di Lugano. Wenn man auf dem Balkon steht, sieht man direkt auf den See. Man könnte fast reinspringen :) Schönes Frühstück am Morgen mit Blick auf den See. Toll war auch, dass am Samstag in Ponte Tresa auf der italienischen Seite ein Markt stattfindet. Man kann zu fuss hinüber laufen. Für Ausflüge rund um den Lago di Lugano und nach Lugano perfekt. Spielzimmer im Restaurant für Kleinkinder war super! Anonymous Solo traveler Germany September 12, 2011	1) Die Zimmer als solches sehr ansprechend besonders aber der grosse Balkon (möbliert) mit traumhaftem Seeblick (bei Vollmond auch sehr romantisch) und ebenso der Speisesaal und die beiden Speise- Terrassen über dem Wasser - ausserdem das Personal (Rezeption und Restaurant) sehr freundlich und perfekt deutsch sprechend (im Tessin oder Italien nicht selbstverständlich) - und mehrere TV-Programme in deutsch (Schweizer tv, ard, zdf, rtl, hr etc.) 2) Die Lage - gegenüber die S-Bahnstation nach Lugano (15-Min.-Takt). Das "Schweizer Problem": Schon ohne teuren Franken wurden die teuren Hotel- und Restaurantpreise von Rest-Europäern als "Abzocke" empfunden (einfaches Garni 2-Stern so teuer wie 4-Stern in München, Frankfurt etc.) - nun bei fast 1:1 Kurs Euro/sFr spricht ein Preis von 16,- sFr für 1 Teller Spaghetti mit Tomatensosse (negativ) für sich selbst. Alicce Solo traveler Ramersberg, Switzerland September 11, 2011	Die Lage am See. Effizientes Check In und Check Out. Freundlichkeit. Die gruenen zerschnittenen Teppiche auf dem Balkon haben mich sehr gestoert. Zudem waere es super, wenn die Plastikstühle mit Polster versehen würden, da der kleine runde Tisch hübsch mit einem Tischtuch aus Stoff bedeckt ist und gepflegt aussieht, stimmt es einfach nicht. Der Teppich im Zimmer empfinde ich als unhygienisch und veraltet, sowie die Teppiche an den Wänden. Auch finde ich das TV Gerät als out und ersatzbedürftig. Mein Zimmer roch extrem nach irgendetwas und es dauerete Stunden bis der Geruch nachliess. Man erklaerte mir am naechsten Morgen, dass eine Mitarbeiterin es gut gemeint haette und zuviel davon versprueht hatte. Das Hotel hat uns von sich aus ein Upgrade angeboten - gratis. Frühstücksbuffet sehr gepflegt. Ideales Hotel um in aller Ruhe den Markt in Ponte Tresa zu besuchen und auf der Schweizer Seite zu Uebernachten. Werden dies auf jeden Fall wieder so machen. Nur zu Empfehlen. Que era muy cómodo moverse en el área teniendo la facilidad del tren al frente del hotel. Gustosa volveré a ir si se me presenta otra oportunidad para viajar a esa zona. Le buffet du petit-déjeuner était très bien fourni et le service efficace. Je préfère un lit avec des draps à l'ancienne.... La qualité de l'oreiller est très faible.
