You can relax in the wellness pavilion with the one and only indoor salt water pool in Davos.

Katia Mann was one of the first patients to be treated at the newly opened Wald Sanatorium in Davos in 1911. Her lung catarrh was cured here. When her husband, the writer and later Nobel Prize winner Thomas Mann visited her in the spring of 1912, he was inspired and he went on to write his famous novel “Der Zauberberg” (The Magic Mountain). His novel, which was based on his impressions and on letters his wife sent him from the sanatorium, was written between 1913 and 1915 and was finished in 1924 after a break of several years. In 1957, the sanatorium was converted into the Waldhotel Davos, which has been under the private ownership of the von Gemmingen family (now in its third generation) since 1911.

Mann & Co has a culinary connection to "The Magic Mountain" novel, which often refers to the area's exquisite meals and fine dining. Creations by chef Urs Hauenstein are as authentic and down-to-earth, as they are inspirational. They range from the classics of Grisons cuisine to dishes with an exotic touch. You can look forward to an evening of flavour and diversity in this redesigned gourmet restaurant in a historical location.

Travel information

By Car:
- Approximately 2.5 hours from Zurich and around 4 hours from Munich or Milan.
- Follow directions from Basle to Zurich.
- Take the N3 direction towards Chur and exit Landquart for Davos.
- Alternatively, follow directions from Munich to Bregenz (via the A14 or E43).
- Take the N3 direction towards Chur and exit Landquart for Davos.

The hotel recommends that drivers use suitable equipment (snow chains) during winter. Free parking is available in front of the hotel.

By Plane:
Zurich is the closest international airport from which Davos can be reached. Train journey is approximately 2.5 hours.

By train:
Travel from Zurich Main Station to Landquart (change to Rhaetian Railway) for Davos Dorf. Guests arriving by train are picked up from the station in Davos Dorf by the hotel shuttle bus free of charge (advance notice required).
