Good breakfast, clean rooms, friendly staff speaking very good English.

Wifi access limited to the public area.

It's close to subway (and provides complimentary subway tickets). Breakfast is alright, and there's free internet. And it's the cheapest deal I could find in Lausanne.

It's quite far from railway station (if taking a walk), and it's still quite expensive. Rooms are really spartan - but that's probably OK.

Helpful staff, good car park for car and trailer, convenient for motorway. Scenery by lake.

We liked the closeness to the lake.

We were under the impression that we would have access to a kitchen, children games area and tevision and laundery, as well as internet in our room. This was advertised on the internet.

Near lake. Nice building as a youth hostel.

The roommate condition is a little bit weird. We shared room with some long term residents (or are they refuges?) and they even 2 shared 1 bed only. What bother me the most is that they came back very late, keep taking, playing music, and smoking inside the room. There were even more long term residents coming to our room to talk at 5am. Totally no sleep after they came back. I think there are some issue about resident control and distribution of rooms. If they must accept long term residents, it will be nice not sharing a room with them. Totally different mood of living. Hostel is not like a school dormitory that you can do whatever.....so, you better wish you will get a room with normal resident condition.

There was some smoke from cigarettes in the room when I arrived.

The room was very clean, the staff friendly and you get a free ticket pass to bus and metro to walk around Lausanne. From the train station to the hostel, you may go around the lake, is it an amazing view.

The bathroom was not very clean and it smells bad.

Everything was bad, ne of the worst hostel I ve ever been to.

For a youth hostel, the majority of the other residents were significantly older.

Good location with parking, close to the lake. A nice breakfast and it was cheap for the area.

Soundproofing isn't great so you can really hear everyone else. Most people were quite from about 10.30 onwards, but could be an issue if you get a loud group.

Hostel was very clean. Staffs are almost friendly. The breakfast was also delicious. (You can find milk, orange juice, coffee..) If you want to use towels you have to pay 2 chf for using and 20 chf for deposit. And when you take the towel back they will give the money back. But it's better to know about the deposit.

A little bit far away from main train station. But You can get in the bus '1' and get off at the 'Madeleine' Station. You have to walk a little bit. And also the hostel name in French : 'Jeunotel'. I asked a guy and he couldn't understand the hostel name in English. So it will be better to know the name in French.

Easy access via public transportation. Near many green space and lakefront

Front desk clerknupon check in was not very competent. Both my daughter and I had separate room reservations. He couldnt find either, then was able to put us both in one room.. Next day. Much more competent clerk said the reservations were there the entire time. Dont know if they ,plan to credit back booking or not. Dont stay here unless you have a high tolerance for large groups of young adults who are loud and take up all the bandwidth on the free? Wifi

The building and, in particular, the rooms, are thoughtfully and attractively designed.

Where do I start? - the ludicrous cost of the room for which one still didn't get an attached bathroom. - the original room we were given was rancid with the thick smell of cigarette smoke despite the 'non-smoking' status of the place. - we asked for the opening hours of the Lausanne OLympic museum at reception. The receptionist used a website to find that we had 2 hours before it closed. We rushed on over to find it has been closed for renovations for some time. It is extraordinary that somebody working in such a facility as the hostel, that deals with visitors to the city all the time, would not know that one of that cities' main attractions is not currently open and advise accordingly. -on top of outrageous room prices, this place also sees fit to further bleed it's 'budget' guests with breathtakingly expensive wifi access as well. -my children and I lay awake through the night while pissed fellow guests played 'musical rooms', crashing doors, yelling, singing, running noisily along uncarpeted corridors on the floor above etc without any apparent intervention from the hostel staff. - the cherry on the cake from the overnight riot was the comatose drunk asleep in his own excretions in one of the cubicles of the shared bathroom the next morning. - breakfast, while adequate, was staffed by a scary individual who stared fixedly and unsmilingly into the distance, steadfastly refusing to make eye contact let alone attend to topping up food and drinks as they were depleted. This is the most critical review of accommodation that I have written and stems from the absurd disconnect between the astounding cost of the place (it's supposed to be a Youth Hostel for goodness sake) and the crappiness and meanness of the experience we had there. Swiss YH managers would do well to take a long, hard study tour of the hostels in neighboring Germany and try and understand what value for money looks like.

Super clean good value free wifi

A small complaint on my part is the constant playing of music hits in the lobby of the hostel. If you have a room somewhat near there you will be able to hear the music though very faintly, because of the near perfect resonance of the place. For some reason it kept me awake, but probably wouldn't normally.

Particularly the breakfast was the best breakfast I ever ate in a hostel. Bio/Fairtrade/Natural Orange Juice, Multi Juice and Coffee! The coffee machine was very good. All the other ingredients were also of high quality. The rooms and all the facilities were also in a top condition.

This is maybe a critique on a very high level. The personal was nice, respectful and professional but a little bit more of a smile can lighten up a day and also improve the first impression that many traveller will get after arriving to Switzerland. But don't get me wrong: they were much nicer and professional than in many other places where I have been,

Staff was really friendly and the hotel was generally clean and tidy. Very good value for what it offers (at least for Switzerland).

Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was excellent. Free travel cards for duration of stay were very welcome and the travel system is easy to use and very comprehensive.

Although away from the centre, transportation is good (you have a metro nearby and a bus stop right at the end of the street). You get a pass for free transport in Lausanne!

First thing is that nowhere in the reservation (done here) it is mentioned that non-members of the International Youth Hostel will have to pay extra! I find it extremely disrespectful to be confronted with this upon check-in... Only a few bathrooms per floor, and the staff was unable to point me to the nearest one, in the end I was just able to find 2 showers in the entire floor (which has dozens of rooms). Some people appear to be living there, which gives the place a rather non-youth atmosphere... The breakfast is rather rudimentary/incomplete.

The room was pretty plane. It is not clear why youth hostel relatively far from the center charges almost the same price for a double room as actual hotels near the center.
