One word: paradise! Thanks to Grace and her team we had a great week (all the people on the island are so welcoming)! We had a secret deal from Booking.com, which make it affordable for backpackers on a budget like us. It started great with flowers at the airport and in the bungalow and a very nice driver who really knows his island (everything is closed on Sunday, so he stopped at the gas station so we could get some water, lunch and snacks, breakfast is provided on the first morning) . We hired a scooter (you need that or a car, because you're a bit out of the area, but you could also walk just a mile for your groceries, liquor and restaurants) and just drove around the whole week, swimming, chillin', walkin' in the jungle (the overland track is very strenuous if it just rained but well worth it). Eating at Waterline restaurant, having our own bbq in the boat shaped pool... The bungalow was cleaned 3 times a week, very well equipped (even dish washing liquid, coffee, tea, pepper & salt, everything), the outside bathroom with bath and seperate rainshower (don't worry, toilet is inside the bungalow), and the beautiful wooden bed, it was awesome.. And the best part: the most beautiful sunset you've ever seen is included in the price, every day!

Fabulous bungalows that were clean and private. Loved the outdoor bathroom! Lovely host who picked up our bags for us from our previous accommodation, which was very nice of her! Loved the complementary breakfast on arrival! Beach was nice, but not great for swimming.

The bathroom was amazing. Nice friendly driver picked us up at midnight from the airport with a fruit platter and drinks waiting for us. Nice pool. Very clean and large spacious rooms. Friendly manager was very accommodating to our extra requests. Emailed a few days before we left for a clarification and never received a reply. The beach out front is not very deep and therefore not great for swimming. But don't worry, the on site pool is fantastic.

The bungalows were very comfortable, just lovely. Uta, the onsite manager, provided really great service and was exceptionally friendly and helpful. There were many restaurants close by to Magic Reef. It was great being able to prepare our own food or eat out. We had a fantastic time and we would definitely stay at Magic Reef again in the future. The mattress was a little bit hard.

The stay at Magi Reef was a dream! The bungalows were luxurious and spotless and we loved the fact that there were only 9 of them, all with a view of the water. It was lovely that we had peace and quiet. It is not a resort and doesn't offer meals, but each place has a kitchen and there is a grill next to the pool for common use. Rod and Joe, the couple running the place while we were there, helped us with everything we needed, from a dentist to travel information, and were incredibly welcoming and hospitable. The rest of the staff is very friendly and helpful. We looked at a lot of other places on the Island, and are convinced that this is the best possible place you could stay in Rarotonga. We had the most relaxing holiday here. If you choose to stay at Magic Reef Bungalows you will not regret it!

Great staff who were really helpful and friendly; nothing was a problem, every request was actioned immediately with a smile :). The bungalows were fabulously clean and well appointed, we slept amazingly well without the aircon by leaving front and rear doors open, lulled to sleep by the waves breaking on the reef. Love, love, love the use of natural finishes throughout and the carved wooden four poster with the Tivaevae bedcover was just great (wish more places on the island used this fantastic local craft). The shower/bath room was 'magical' -we really enjoyed being able to shower outdoors in the dappled light through the palms or under the stars. We made use of the BBQ almost every day, the beachside deck was a great way to meet other guests/enjoy a few laughs at sunset and the pool got lots of use. We love the location and made use of the 'happy hours' at a number of resorts, just a really pleasant stroll along the beach away. The lagoon out front is quite shallow, but you are only a few minutes walk in either direction from some great swimming or snorkeling spots and the pool is great for cooling off after an hour or two's sunbathing.

Lovely room. Great bed. Fantastic outdoor bathroom. Spacious. Close to sea. Good view. Close to a great bar/restaurant (Waterfront). Lovely sunsets. Nice deck area by the sea for breakfast & sunsets. Slightly tacky (stylistically) pool - in shape of boat - but great once you were in. Right on the beach but not a good swimming beach - moving rocks to create a bathing hole (as the neighbours have done) would be a good idea.

Authentic Buree accommodation, outdoor bath & shower. Great location right on beach. Privacy & peace. Facilities in room. After paying a 5 star daily rate we were charged for resort shuttle pickup & drop-off another $60. Greedy. Toilet blocked every day - annoying. No office support after 5pm during week & after noon in Weekend. Did not replace bathroom light when this was obviously blown at room service time.

Magic location! great staff! Loved the Island type decor of the bungalows and especially the outside shower! The gardens and grounds were in pristine condition. It was a great place to have our son's wedding and we were made to feel so very welcome. Not enough lighting in the bathroom for applying make up. Drawers under the shelf in the wardrobe would be handy ror longer staying guests.

Beautiful location, with great authentic Rarotongan feel! Lovely pool and grounds. The outdoor shower and bath is a lovely touch, just a little cold at night but would be perfect in summer. The bed was very hard and the room was very cold at night, with no way to make the heating work, it only seemed to make cool air.

The individual, self contained, authentic natural looking, yet comfortable bungalows of Magic Reef, make the perfect setting for a relaxed and fun filled holiday in Rarotonga . There are only 10 individual bungalows, and management and staff give truely friendly, personal advice and service. This Beach front setting is beautifully kept, with gardens and ship shaped pool, BBQ and beach pagoda and lounges . A perfect place to relax, revitalise and rekindle romance.

Kleine, ansprechende Bungalowanlage direkt am Strand. Das spezielle Freiluft- Badezimmer. Die Bungalows sind im lokalen Südseestil. Ideal für die Flitterwochen oder ein Romantikurlaub.

From the beginning of my visit to the Magic Reef Bungalow, I had received nothing less than excellent service and friend staff communication. The room I had book was definitely beyond what I had expected. Everything was perfect and I would not have asked for anything more. Definitely recommend going to the Magic Reef Bungalow.
