Score from 11 reviews Wonderful
The beach is great and the kids loved the pool. The location means you get sun right through to the late afternoon. The rooms were comfortable and tidy.
Some of the general facilities are quite tired and could do with some TLC.
there was no free Spa pool in the complex
Location to the beach, resturant and daily activities
Room is very old and things were broken. Our sliding door was hard to old and close, the outdoor shower was broken and not maintained. My daughter was disappointed she couldn't attend kids club due other age, however she was very comfortable in there when she did get to stay.
Location, beach, facilities quite good
Service, management and staff poor, dining variable or poor
They were all very pleasant and obliging. Special thanks to Vika.
All good - nothing to dislike.
service at the bar and restaurant was extremely slow. Cost to stay here is totally over priced whole place needs a serious make-over inside and out. There a far nicer and cheaper places to stay.
location next to the lagoon lagoon is a marine reserve and the fish life is amazing The staff were generally very friendly and helpful Had all the facilities that are expected
The weather! but that's not their fault Food is expensive Service can be slow/non existent (but not always) Noisy neighbors - can't be much sound proofing between the units.
Poor Service. Amenities well below par. Rating of property no more than 3 star. Food dreadful. All in all not a property to be recommended.
Beautiful lagoon, great for snorkelling,
We found the staff unfriendly & service very poor. Food & drink service was very poor & our room wasn't serviced until 3.30pm each day, which was too late.
We had a beach front unit which was nice, very simple but had everything we needed. Snorkeling was really good right infront of the hotel Breakfast was nice, good selection of fresh fruit cereals and pastries
I would recommend a scooter or car as there were not many restaurants/bars in walking distance if you wanted to get out of the resort (there's a rental car place across the road)
Did like the location.
The staff were lovely, but there are not enough. Our meals at the restaurants were cold when we got them and we noticed that they sat on the warmer for ages as only 2 staff on duty doing drinks orders and meal orders, all it needs is more staff as the meals were nice but cold. Breakfast was the same not enough staff we had to clear a table each time we went to breakfast and find cutlery. There was not enough glasses, cups etc out either. There is nothing worse when looking around and seeing dirty tables and covered in dirty crockery etc. Again more staff required. Same with the room servicing never came till late in afternoon and again lack of staff as a lot of rooms. We would go out in the evening and staff were still servicing rooms that looks bad. Sorry to be so negative. Hope Management and owners get to see this as something needs to be done.
Friendly stuff, good service, great facility.
Sometimes a little bit on the grubby site. Plants due wind knocking on the roof. Nuisance in the night.
The honeymoon suite, nice!
I like the gardens and environment at the Rarotongan. We came 25 years ago and loved it then. The setting is beautiful.
The food was yuk, the coffee cold. Overall the attitude of the bar and food staff was poor. Their performance - in comparison with everywhere else we were forced to go - was substandard. The bar and restaurant leaked - generally uncomfortable.
Waited in the lobby for over 35 minutes to be checked into our room. There were 5 staff behind the counter all chatting and laughing with one another and only one girl running around trying to check people in and deal with other guests staying there wanting to pay for items and check out. Was a real bad look to have all those staff just standing around laughing with each other while so many people were waiting. Was a pretty bad start to our stay there.
you could find fault in just about every aspect.
I felt ripped off. many aspects of the stay were well below what was expected. Under managed and understaffed. A very bad representation of the Rarotongan experience.
The location to beach .lovely sand
For 4 star accommodation very tired resort and on booking.com we upgraded to beach front which you would of expedite to see the beach which you could not .Service was the pour over an hour and 15 minutes wait for dinner and then only some of meals came out .Tropical breakfast was very poor, cold coffee every morning for 6 days .no brown bread some mornings.lots of dishes not being replenished. For $395.00 a night you would expect better breakfast and condition would not stay or recommend the property.
Good staff, felt sorry about enviroment they work in. Good location.
Dirty floor in dining area, rusty chairs noisy room, black water coming out of toilet when flushing, toilet door handle faulty, cups not cleaned, black scum around mats at pool, generally run down!!! I enjoy camping more than our stay here.at $310 per night consider it one of my worst purchases in memory.
Clear water and proximity of reef Cocktails Kayaks, snorkelling gear Staff engagement Variety of fish available from the restaurant
Pillows too big
This is a somewhat tired property on a beautiful beach. However, there are many beautiful beaches on Rarotonga.
Much too expensive even for a splurge because there really isn't anything special about the place beyond the beach. They charge 4% for using credit cards. The free breakfast is minimal. The checkout time is 10am so set your alarm and there is no free airport pickup as there is with many other hotels on the island. The owners apparently think this is a five star property but for ambiance and value it's more like 2.5 stars.
Staff were good
It was expensive for value received. That includes food & drinks.
The position...easy access to beach. Beautiful outlook. Well designed, beautiful complex.
Slow service at times. Price of food.
- Staff were very friendly and helpful (some just a bit too slow!) - Meals were enjoyable and reasonably priced. Really enjoyed the roast dinner buffet night. - Pool and other facilities were clean.
- At times, we waited too long to have orders taken at restaurant. Then it would take too long to get our drinks and sometimes, meals delivered. - The staff were very slow at both Reception areas (Rarotongan and the Sanctuary) when we needed help. They also didn't give correct information on a couple of occasions. However, this 'laid back' approach seemed to be prevalent all around the island!!
Everything we needed was on site. Did not need to travel away from the resort much
Beautiful beaches Snorkelling Staff friendly and some quite funny when you engaged with them Rooms in more expensive section (Beachfront Rooms) were lovely, good size, modern clean feel to them, great views.
Food not of great standard - OK but not good enough for the price. Staff helpful if you asked but not a lot of volunteered information. Not a great deal to do - it really depends on the type of holiday you are looking for - just kicking back on the beach - excellent. Try other venues for eating as well - found these people more engaging and food better -sometimes.
