I remember when I first visited 9 years ago it seemed like a much more new, vibrant city. Might have been my younger self rather than the city but the city felt very old (not in the cool, good way) when we went this time. The pre-Colombian museum is a must visit, but other than that I wouldn’t really go back. The food scene was okay too, aside from some great spots. Other international cities I’ve been to have left me overwhelmed with options, this city did not. Also, we really wanted to take a wine tour but the prices were insanely expensive to go just an hour outside the city and operators I contacted were not responsive.

Santiago feels similar to any other major city that you would visit. It lacked the unique charm that we found on the coast in Viña del Mar.
Perhaps we didn’t stay in the right neighborhood (stayed close to the central government buildings), and the city streets cleared out by sundown—making the city feel kinda empty.
EXCELLENT museums though!

The city is crowded in the Centro area of Plaza de Armas, but that provided a lot of interesting attractions. We preferred to wander by foot instead of taxi for bus therefore we saw a lot. Be aware that the area business area closed for SIESTA. Some restaurants closed right after the lunch crowd until the next day, therefore the area are really quiet after 6 pm. Be spending time to visit the Santa Lucia Hill (a lot of uphill steps) and the Central Market where there are a lot of restaurants inside and outside. A must to linger about the street vendors with their merchandises displayed on the streets (which are everywhere in Santiago). Must visit two churches and two museums in the Plaza area (advice: the churches are perfect place to rest). Temperature was 60 to 75 in mid March 2024.

Lots of great things to do and see in Santiago.
Lots of great things to do and see in Santiago. Would recommend the pre -Colombian museum and the Memory museum. The Bellas Artes is a lovely building too.
Take the cable car or funicular to the top of Cerro San Cristobal and enjoy the views of the city - there is a huge outdoor pool halfway up so get off at that stop and enjoy a swim!
The Cerro Santa Lucia is slap bang in the middle of the city and is lovely.
Easy to get around by bus and metro.
lots of cool bars and good restaurants
The huge Bio Bio market on a weekend is worth a visit - food, antiques, plants, art - everything really

We saw the 3 top things that Trip advisor recommended.
We saw the 3 top things that Trip advisor recommended. Very glad we did those in 2 days. I would have liked to have spent more time in different barrios. We had our 20 year old daughter with us who can look 15 years old. We were warned 3 times by different people to watch her closely. We were in the tourist areas. It really freaked my husband and I out.
We usually rent a car on vacation. We decided to take Ubers. First time using Uber and would do that again in a heartbeat. It would have been very stressful to drive ourselves in Santiago.
Santiago is a beautiful, busy city. We stayed in Barrio Providencia. Very safe, I could live there:). Beautiful parks to walk in.

Full of Poverty's and faggarts and domestic delinquents and linked terrorists something about FPMR and MIR and corrupt cops.
But all easy at fight retail.
Only law troubles of false witnesses or false chargers.
But easy to handle.
The location of the hotel was excellent for exploring Barrio Italia, Bella Vista, Providencía, and Lastarria. The entire staff was welcoming, friendly, and capable. Breakfast had a variety of options, and all fruits and juices were fresh. The outdoor roof space had a good vibe, the afternoon/evening bar enjoyable, and restaurant food tasty. The pool is simply a dip in and cool off space, waist high, approx. 5x12, no swimming. Nice views of Cerro San Cristobal and the park.
It was a beautiful modern hotel with great amenities & close to the Santiago Airport. They have a courtesy shuttle to & from the airport. The staff was friendly & very helpful. The restaurant had great food and excellent service. The beds were so comfy, maybe the best we’d ever experienced in a hotel. The desk clerk, Jesus, was very friendly, spoke good English and was extremely helpful throughout our stay. Would highly recommend this hotel!
I am so glad I chose this hotel! Super location, simply walk a short way west for Downtown, north for Bella Vista, east for Costanera, and south for Barrio Italia - this hotel is right in the middle of the action. The room was spacious, the bed was huge and comfortable, I had access to a kitchen, there was a cosy lounge area, and the staff were all amazing. It may not look like much from outside, but this is a great hotel and amazing value.
We have stayed in this hotel for a total of 4 nights at different dates because we were using the Santiago airport as a hub for our trips around Chile.
The advantages are :
The proximity with the airport.
Spacious and comfortable rooms.
Very good breakfast opening at 5 am (allowing thus early travelers to get a nice breakfast)
Excellent isolation to noise (don't hear the planes).
Excellent internet connexion.
A really beautiful house not too far to walk from downtown Santiago and the main square or a very short metro ride. The property had a very well equipped kitchen for cooking and a comfortable big lounge to relax in too. The bedroom was more like a hotel with a beautiful big bed, great bathroom, smart tv and shampoo etc products too. We were able to store our bags after check out.
Excellent boutique hotel in the centre of Santiago, loads of restaurants & coffee shops in walking distance to Lastarria. Welcoming team & efficient check in. Small well appointed super clean room & comfortable bed. Coffee pod machine a bonus & balcony looking over the park. Great breakfast options. Rooftop pool with views up to San Cristobal Hill. Highly recommend this hotel!
The small staff is always so helpful and story nice (as are the owners), rooms are super quiet and super clean. The location is very close to the airport bus and other public transport.
Overall the vibe there was also great. Not like a hotel more like a very big house. Never felt crowded at any point.
I came back five times for all my stops in Santiago.
Great location and very welcoming staff. The room was clean and the bathroom was the cleanest one I've seen in Chile (we stayed in several hotels in Santiago and in Puerto Natales and most of the bathrooms were a bit weary).
The receptionist arranged a taxi to the airport for us and the driver helped us with the luggage. The service was exceptional.
There is a good bus service from the airport to the central bus station, right next to the hotel, which saves having to contend with airport cab drivers. The hotel was a fairly standard american-style chain hotel, which was kind of reassuring in the depressed area of downtown Santiago. And a good buffet breakfast in the morning.
The best possible location with best views and amazing clean, comfy rooms... Great restaurant, pool area can not be any better... stuff extremely kind... we returned to this hotel already. no need to search for other accommodation in Santiago. This is the place!
I loved how close it was to the airport, the shuttle. The rooms were spacious and clean. The other nice thing was room service, my flight arrived late but I was able to get food before bed. Honestly best hotel during my stay in all of Chile & Easter Island.
Great boutique hotel in the center of Santiago - nice modern rooms with comfortable beds and feel good bathrooms, excellent breakfast, very very friendly staff and a cool roof top bar / restaurant with a great view to cerro lucia and an amazing staff
Rooftop bar and pool area is superb. Magnificent views and a lovely space to hang out in. Breakfast was also a cut above average in Chile. Solace was much cheaper than other Santiago hotels and we got much more for our money - really great value.
Small cute hotel
Prose " value, location and service
Cons not a real 5 star Hotel I have stayed in a lot of five star Hotels and I will give it a maximum of 4
All in all good place and value for money
A lovely small hotel in the heart of Santiago, we walked everywhere - even to the Costanera Center. Close to the airport bus too. The staff were friendly and always available.
