Hotel Seme Beach  

The beach is pretty and kept relatively clean (though I'd be cautious about swimming here, as I visited a beach a few kilometers North that was covered in rubbish, including used syringes with needles still attached). The pool area is also nice. The internet connection was decent by Cameroonian standards and one can connect to the internet from one's bedroom.

With the exception of one person (who I think was the manager), the staff were very rude and unhelpful. The bed linen was dirty and did not seem to have been changed since the last guest, and there was a hole in the bath, making it close to impossible to bathe without flooding the bathroom. The restaurant only had three dishes on the menu (which was only available in French, despite Limbe being in the Anglophone part of Cameroon) and was dirty - we ended up skipping dinner altogether rather than eating there. There were security guards patrolling the grounds, though we still felt somewhat uneasy about security, given that my parter had been propositioned by two prostitutes within our first hour at the hotel. Overall, this was the worst experience I've ever had at a hotel - I'm sure that one can find far more pleasant accommodation in Limbe for this price. Indeed, the hotel where we'd stayed in Buea was significantly cheaper than Seme Beach and superior in every respect other than location.

Da ich in Kamerun arbeite, erhole ich mich regelmässig im Seme. Das ich in Kamerun arbeite, kenne ich Land und Menschen ein bisschen. Seme hat es für kamerunische Verhältnisse geschafft, ein Ort zum Verweilen zu kreieren. Für europäische Vergleiche kann es sein, dass es den Ansprüchen an ein 3 Stern Hotel nicht genügt. Für Kamerun hat es diese 3 Sterne aber durchaus verdient!
