Asset Hotel Shanghai  

Located at a quiet corner of a busy street. Staff are friendly and caring. Good breakfast spread.

Some minor painting work at third fllor was done and the paint smell trapped in the corridor, perhaps they can consider openning the window to air it.

We were in transit from the airport to another city and just wanted a location near to the bus station. So we chose this hotel which was a 10 minute taxi drive from the South Bus station. It cost us 25 rmb to get to the station so it was great. The hotel was well placed, the taxi found it easily and it was clean and warm (winter) the shower was good, and there was free wifi in the room. The breakfast was also okay both western and chinese style food and very good coffee.

If you need to be in the centre of town it is not a good location because it is a bit far (although it is close to two metro stations) we didnt go into town at all so I don't know how long it would take. You would have to check it. For our purpose to be close to the south bus station it was ideal.

Het was een behoorlijk hotel, met medium/behoorlijk-comfort, maar gewoon goed te doen. Niet vies, smerig of onprettig. Het is vrij klein en ligt een minder bekende wijk, maar heb een prettig verblijf gehad. Verwacht geen luxe voor de aantrekkelijke prijs.

Pretty far from downtown-area, but for me I just liked that. Less then 10 minutes walk (2 minutes bij taxi for 1 euro 60) to several nice shopping-streets, eateries and metrostation Stadium line 4.

Convenience to public transport and the clean room.

I had to pay 36 RMB extra for room service for one night which meant for having the room cleaned- this was not the case with other hotels I stayed at. Surely, this should be indicated in the internet info about the hotel.

Nice small clean hotel conveniently located inside a peaceful yard. The staff is very nice and competent. If you do not expect luxury with this price level in Shanghai, you will be well satisfied. Easy access to Henshan Pub Street and Xu Jia Hui's electronics shopping malls etc. Have stayed twice and intend to stay again.

Good price for service, 10 minutes walking to metro and very helpful people in the front desk. Breakfast was quite good for chinese standard.

The room was ok, the location within the city is good, staff speaks English..

the hotel is not that close to the subway (it is right in the middle between two stations), breakfast would be a lower standard..

The hotel is very clean. People are friendly. Breakfast is simple but good - more Chinese than western.

The hotel has small sets of stairs going up and down everywhere. It would be a big hassle for anyone with disabilities.

We spent 5 nights in Asset Hotel. It is nice, not big hotel, 500m from Shanghai Stadium metro station, quiet location, free internet connection, acceptable breakfast.

I was under the impression that I would have WiFi Internet inside the room but they only provide WiFi to the lobby, and wired Internet for the rooms. This is not helpful once I only brought with me the IPad and IPhone. Nevertheless since the router is located at the top of the entrance hall some rooms at the 2nd floor do get WiFi signal and I was lucky enough to be placed at the 201 which I think is probably the last one to get it. Otherwise a Fair hotel for it's price, maybe looking further you'll find a better one in this price range. The main reason I chose this hotel was it's location (I once lived at this street and was eager to see the neighborhood changes after the 3 years I've been away)

Clean room, hotel itself was nice and fairly clean, relatively close to a metro station for travel around the city, included breakfast.

Confusing website to make reservation - it seemed like the smallest/cheapest room for 2 people was a junior suite, so we paid for that. But when we got there, there were regular rooms with queen beds, which would have suited our needs and price range better. Breakfast was mediocre, but had some toast and rolls as western options in addition to some Chinese foods. Location was somewhat near metro station but was in a sketchy neighborhood. "Non-smoking" room still smelled like smoke.

The renovation sounds are quite noisy, especial for the day time.. can't stand to stay in the room all the day.. Other time are fine..
