Steven is an unbelievable helpful owner!!! A not 5, but 6 stars host! I spent there 3 nights and every evening I discuss with him the plan for the next day obtaining always great suggestions from him. And I suggest you to taste the dinner his wife or himself will prepare you if you require. Local tastes that must be tried! ;) I highly recommend this hotel. Room also looks very new and clean!
Not in the city center, 5/10 minutes by bus (n.12), but very easy to manage. The railway run not to far from there, but you'll sleep very well!
Steven, the manager, is a really nice person and does the best to guarantee a wonderful stay to his guests. Our room was very clean and comfortable. He gave us a lot of advice for our trip to the Yellow Mountain. The hostel is not located in a central location however they took care of the transportation from and to the train station. Home-made food was amazing.
They helped us to organise our tour to the yellow Mountains and gave us very useful hints which scenic spots are worthwile to go to. The offer a dinner at home which is very tasty. They also prepared Food for our Baby. They are open for all questions to come.
Rail Road passing nearby.
If you don't want to worry about anything, then this is the perfect place to stay. Steven is a very good english-speaker, so no worries about a language-barrier. He organizes everything for you, which can be very comfortable for western travellers every now and then.
I stayed at Huangshan Bed and Breakfast with a group of friends for one night before heading to Huangshan mountain. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and very clean. Moreover the owner is extremely available, he organized for a driver to come and pick us up at the bus station, and prepared us some dinner since we got in too late to go to a restaurant. He had been a guide to the mountain for 20 years so he gave many tips on what to see and suggested us a great itinerary, he also organized a van with a driver that came to the hotel the morning after and brought us to the mountain base and helped us to buy our return bus tickets for Shanghai. The day after we left he called us to know if we had a good time. Strongly suggested
My son was stranded in Huangshan with no money. Steven, on trust took him in, organized him, showed him the area, fed him and got him back to Beijing. I would highly recommend Steven's place to any travellers. Steven's English was very good, which made it easy to communicate. He is a very caring host and will go out of his way to please you. - great hospitality, nice owners - knowledge about Yellow Mountains and tour options - clean rooms/toilets/showers - healthy food - definitely would go there again. -
- seriously nothing to complain
a great accommodation with a friendly and a familiar atmosphere, clean rooms, an excellent food, we were a group of five people and the owner gave us a possibility to travel by a van - to the mountains and to an ancient village which is near to the huangshan city; he picked us up at the railway station when we arrived and when we were leaving he took us to the train again; he told us a lot of information about the mountains, recommended us where to go etc., and he taught us how to play mahjong ^^ I really enjoyed the stay there :)
I would like to thank you once again. The stay was great, Steven gave us all information about mountains and all other things we wanted to know (tradition, Chinese language, caligraphy and more other topics). The only disadvantage was lack of time to stay longer. I suggest to plan Your stay longer than one night. You won't regret any second.
This place is a treat! Here you get more than you bargain for in a positive way and the pictures doesnt do it right, its a lot nicer! Steven and his family all speak english and after travelling in China one really appriciate that.As a former tourguide he can give you useful tip about the area and fix tickets and tours for you.His wife makes excellent dinners. Perfect hosts, really recommend this place!
Train passing can be annoying for some, but we didnt mind. It will be gone next year anyway
We stayed at Stevens hostel for 2 nights and were right away surprised about the new, big and clean house. We surely didn't expect such a great building and rooms for the price we paid. Steven picked us up from the train station for free and also brought is back, which is awesome. He speaks very good English and helps you with everything. My boyfriend was sick in huangshan, so Steven took excellent care for him. His wife even cooked special dishes to get him healthy again. My sister is vegetarian which is sometimes hard in china but at Stevens - no problem at all. His wife created some delicious vegetarian dishes. You have to pay 40 yuan per person for dinner, but the price is ok for everything you are getting. And you have free tea during the whole day and free breakfast. I can highly recommend this hostel to everyone! It saves you a lot of money compared to others in that area and offers high quality rooms with great beds. It's so clean - which makes your stay even more enjoyable!
When we arrieved in Tunxi, Steven picked us up from the bus station. From the first time we met, Steven wanted that we should feel here like home. He gave us a lot of travelling information, helped us with public transport, arranged the taxi to the airport and the mountains and did everything for our comfort. Our stay was like living with a Chinese family, so the best way to experience Chinese lifestyle. We had several times dinner too there and it was really delicious- thanks to Steven's wife and her skills! Whenever a question occurred,Steven tried his best to help us.
Sometimes we were woken up by a nearby train route.
Located in the middle of nothing, not even interesting neighborhood, with train railway passing on the side , so all day noisy . Very far away from everything, it takes 45minutes to arrive to train station or downtown, you can´t loose that precious time when you are traveling ! You also have to come back early , as later there is no bus The owner at first moment was very kind , then as I did not have dinner at his place , which part of his business plan , completely changed his way and treated me always with bad mood , speaking extremely loud and not giving me the right directions to go to the places I had to visit , as he was doing a favor to me ( even worst was his wife , that was grumbling all the time in my face to make me feel uncomfortable ). Every day was worst and as I was so isolated on that location , I really needed his help , which I payed with a high cost as they ruined my 3 days in Huangshang . Completely unprofessional and absolutely not recommendable hotel
+ good information about Huangshan from Steve + big room, clean room and bathroom with cheap price + breakfast toast with honey is good for us... + can booked a taxi to go to Huangshan Mountain gate with his nice brother + he can bought us the bus ticket with a little bit commission
- location far enough from old street tunxi (crowded area) - breakfast fried rice is so so, no taste - wifi poor signal on 3rd floor
If you go to Tunxi/Huangshan, this is the place to stay at! The owner, Steven, picked us up at the Bus Station (for free!) and took us to his Hostel. The rooms there are better than in many Hotels, with nice beds and everything is really very clean! The best thing about this place is Steven and his wife, they took care of our whole group the whole time. Steven sat down with us and told us anything we wanted to know about Huanghsan and the mountains (he worked as a guide for many years). His wife cooked some fresh and delicious dinner for us (which was plenty!).He also organized a van that took us to the mountains directly, and that was also very cheap. The van even picked us up again at the mountains and even if we already checked out, I could always call Steven to ask him any questions. This is service as I've never experienced it before...better than in any Hotel and without charge. I can highly recommend this place! Thank you Steven!
Steven, the owner, is a very friendly and helpful person, especially when you are there to go to yellow mountains because he knows everything about the mountain. He even picks you up from the bus station or train station, if you want to. He helps you to plan your hike and his english is really good. There is the possibility to have dinner at his house, which is quite a comfortable opportunity. His wife cooks delicious food, for a fair price. The rooms are beautiful and clean and I would recommend this hostel to everyone. If you want to stay with a nice and friendly Chinese family for a while, you should definitely go there.
The owners were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough to make your stay a pleasurable one. The rooms were emaculate, it was clear that Steven (owner) takes great pride in his business. I'd definitely stay there again!
The hospitality, the food (whatever you want to eat it's perfect) and the cleanliness of the room it makes you feel at home. The all family is very friendly and helpful. Steven takes really care of you also for the organization of any trip there in Huangshan. Nicest trip ever in China. 10+
The owner picked us up at the train station which was really nice because (otherwise we would never had found it). Rooms are really clean!!
The owner organized a taxi to the Huangshan mountain for 300 yuan. We shared the taxi with 2 other guests and then the price was 360 yuan. I do not know if it is normal that the price increases with the number of persons. Due to the nearby train track it is quite loud but it stops after midnight. It is quite far from the city center.
Amazing place, one of the best i have stayed in! The owner is absolutely lovely and very helpful, the place itself is very charming. The rooms have hotel standards and are clean and good! Included breakfast is definetly a plus and also included pick up service. All in all this is the place to stay when visiting the tunxi region and the yellow mountains huangshan
Only downside is a traintrack nearby, which doesnt cause much noise during the night but can be heard throughout the day
Without hesitation, of our two weeks trip to China we got the best service at Huangshan B&B! After crowded Beijing metro we greatly appreciated the free pick-up from the airport. The driver helped us with our luggage and the B&B's owner Steven welcomed us at his place with a local tea&flower drink and a friendly chat. The B&B is a brand new multi-storey building: our huge room was spotlessly clean and the king bed gorgeous. There are corner shops just down the road so you can pack some cheap food for the Huangshan mountain hike. Steven the owner (a mountain guide for 15 years) speaks fluent English and is more than happy to give extensive advice for the best mountain experience (prices, walking times and best itineraries). We only had one day to spend at the mountain so we needed a quick access to the most iconic mountain views. Steven's tips allowed us to see all the best spots in one day (most travellers pay a 1000Y for overnight accommodation at the top to be able to experience the same). We payed 40Y extra per person to have dinner included. Steven's wife cooked a great diversity of healthy, tasty Chinese dishes. Also, we had nice and really cheap local beer. A drink has never tasted better than after a long, tiring day of hiking! Steven organised a taxi for us to get to the mountain and back (1,5 hours drive to one direction) for 300Y which we shared among three passengers. We hugely recommend taking this service as it takes 1-1.5 hours more per direction to take a local bus. Steven even bought us tickets to the Shanghai bus for the next morning while we were hiking for a minimal commission fee. He also got up early on the last morning to take us on his e-tricycle (free of charge again!) right to the bus for a friendly farewell. Nothing can possibly go wrong when you are in Steven and his wife’s hands.
