Centrally located in one of Beijing's typical Hutongs, 161 Hotel has easy access to attractions and transportation services. It is a 5-minute walk from Dong Si subway station and has free Wi-Fi.
Score from 970 reviews Very good
Checkin was efficient as checked in at 01h00. Hotel is close to Metro and Station.
This old lady needs a serious face lift. The carpets throughout the hotel and rooms were filthy. They looked fawn although I think they mustard. Under the bed were tissues, hair clips and empty bottles to name a few items. The shower in the room had grim and bacteria growing between the shower door and around the drain. The toilets (men and women) on the ground floor stank like a Hutong with no soap, paper towel or toilet paper. When we requested milk for the tea in the room we were told that we would have to pay. This hotel should probably be rated a two star.
very good location
There is no farcility to enjoy in the hotel.
Comfy beds and good location
Terrible wifi and not much in terms of service.
Close to train station, Clean
1. Location - 50 min by Airport Express (train) to DongZhiMen station where you transfer to Line 2 to BJ railway station stop. Connection through basement of building to hotel. Excellent during winters and rainy and smoggy days. 2. Value for money. 3. Same Line 2 to next station (Chongwenmen) Glory Mall where there are many restaurants and also Food Court. 4. Hotel staff and very helpful and courteous. 5. Excellent wifi connection.
There are no non-smoking room available even though I requested for one. There was a musty smell in the room - partly from the humidity in the carpeting & curtains & also the residue smell of smoking.
The concierge very helpfull
Good location.. Convenient.. Staff very friendly.
The room is not sound proof.. Very noisy. Can hear the people talking in other rooms or noise from train station..
Location and price
Carpet in room was dirty, old, and should be changed. I almost requested a change of room
Its very close to Beijing Railway station and metro.....easy to travel anywhere especially for visiting historical places
Not many restaurants around
The location. Walking distance to Railway station. Relatively perfect breakfast.
Nothing really. Stayed only 1 night
Excellent location near subway, A variety of food options close by, A very safe environment, Excellent staff (good English skills)
Thin doors, hallway noise was easily heard
location. Overall it is a good value for money. The rooms are clean and the people are helpful.
We had requested for two adjacent rooms (interconnecting) as we were four of us. They had given deluxe rooms earlier which were really in poor condition (5th floor). We did not take them and requested for better rooms (3 AM! after a long travel) they upgraded to better rooms with additional charges after I talked to the manager.
The location is great, the rooms well appointed, and the front desk helpful. I have been staying here for more than a decade.
email connection was iffy
location was excellent nice hotel and great breakfast nice variety.
I have nothing that I didn't like
Room was beautiful, staff very helpful and polite. Good location for the beijing railway station. Very clean. Highly recommend
breakfast cafeteria is excellent.
People who work there. They booked me a great tour of the Great Wall.
Location next to tube, and train. Good value for suites. In china, everywhere else would've required two rooms booked or more money. Breakfast is decent. Gym is decent.
Hojo is American in name only. Beds are hard, the lady who checked us in gave us a smoking room even though we reserved non smoking and asked her specifically for a non smoking. She didn't care. Had to move the next day. No cappuccinos at breakfast. Most staff don't speak as much English as the baskin Robbins waiter.
The location very good. Able to access to two different lines Nearest is Beijing Railiway station - it is super busy Advise to walk further and take the Line 1 subway. Direct line to the Silk Market and Wangfujing . Near to supermarket and restaurants/fast food (KFC, Starbucks). English level is acceptable. No problems of communication.
We had a bit problem with the toilet. The toilet was not able to flush properly on the second day. They fixed it while we were away. Also need to be careful on what are the items free of charge and which ones are complimentary. They actually stated it at the items. So before using anything make sure check out if its complimentary or not. A big bottle of Evian water was RMB58.
Excellent location for Trans-Mongolian travellers as it's within a two-minute walk of Beijing Railway Station. Helpful English-speaking staff (especially the concierge) who arranged train tickets to be sent from agency to hotel. A comfortable, relaxing bar in the lobby with very good service. A cheap, lively Peking Duck restaurant in shopping mall next door. Hotel is just across street from a Tourist Information Office that can efficiently arrange very good Great Wall daytrips. (Go to Mutianyu!)
The hotel's own restaurant was the only drawback. It was overpriced, with comically clueless eternally hovering waitresses and glacially slow service.
The location right on top of Beijing Railway Station is very useful, even if it's not the most interesting. The well-appointed rooms are attractive and very comfortable.
I didn't appreciate being told to move along from the "restaurant," which is really almost the entire lobby. No one was in there, perhaps because of that attitude. Apparently my sitting there checking up on some email while I awaited a friend posed a problem, unless I ordered something. They also DO NOT HAVE WIFI, or at least any WiFi you can actually use. It's so sluggish that every time I tried it I gave up after losing the better part of an hour trying, and went to find a cafe with a real WiFi connection. The worst WiFi connection I've experienced in a month of traveling in China.
Location was convinient as it was easy to travel for the great wall marathon. Beijing south train station 15 minutes drive. Family room was very spacy
Cleanliness was below standards. Even though i am member and collect points at Howard Johnson, I could not get points on this hotel. Breakfast could have been better.
very convenient location - just across the road from the main railway station.Small restaurants and a supermarket downstairs.
WiFi was extremely slow in our room
Excellent location near metro line 2 and train station. Many Restaurants and shopping places nearby
