For those travellers who are muslims, there is a halal restaurant located close to Sha Tan Hotel. Also, very convenient to visit Tiananmen and Forbidden city as it is within 2-3 bus stops.
Hotel staff needs more training in English language cos' they are not well verse. It will be difficult for foreign travellers who are not able to converse in Mandarin.
good location price pretty clean but looks old
it's located in a narrow and ugly street poor english
* The wifi connection was okay; * It is close to the exit (the back part) of the Forbidden City.
* The room was really dirty; * The carpet had some green stuffs on it - mustiness (disgusting). I was inside the room and always wearing shoes; * The cigarettes smell is in everywhere - lobby, elevator, room, etc; * It is kinda far away from the metro station - about 10-15mins walking.
The room was clean and well stocked. I didn't have any problems with anything. The front desk staff were friendly though their English was not that good. I loved the location to the near by Jiang Shan (??) park, at the back door of the Forbidden City!!! At $53/night, I didn't expect much. I got what I expected at that price. I would stay here again. I don't need swank. Just a clean, safe place to stay, and I got that.
The street that the hotel opens up to is very narrow and dirty with vendors everywhere. I was uncomfortable walking up and down that street. The interior hallways were dark and a bit dingy. The restaurant was overpriced and the food not so good, though the service was great.
The rooms in this hotel is the equivalent to a good 3 star hotel in the US. It's very clean, modern, and not tiny like most hotels in Asia. The location is very good. Most attractions are a short bus or taxi ride away. Ask the staff what buses to take to the close by attractions or just take a taxi. The staff speaks basic English and is somewhat helpful. Lots of places to eat nearby. Great value.
It's quite far from the subway station and located in a hutong type of street where taxis will have a hard time getting into. Also a lot of China tour groups walk through that area which can be annoying at times.
Excellent for on a budget. Good location near forbidden city and park. Alleyway is near traditional hutongs so you're right in the midst if local life. Not for the faint hearted. Good on site travel agency who booked both a fab trip to Great Wall and our airport transport. Great value. Only let down was showers needed a good clean (limescale). Water was hot and pressure was good. Bed linen clean and other areas of room clean.
Showers were a little dirty.
The size of the room was ok and we the bed was very comfortable. Also we liked the place, where it is situated in the city center, very close to Forbidden city.
The carpet was very dirty and the shower was not clean. The air conditioner didn't work. One more thing that we left ipad there and it was very difficult to receive it back because staff speak english on super basic level. Finally we got it almost in one month after our stay.
Staff was friendly and helpful, beds were very soft for China standards, room and bathroom was clean, wifi worked well once connected, hotel is located on a small back street away from noise but still had many restaurants and shops for picking up water and snacks.
A bit of a walk to the nearest metro station
The location is convenient Worth the price, bed is so comfortable room service is good. We would stay again at this hotel
Staffs didn't speak much English, shower room the drain running slow, no toothbrush, carpet got some stain but ok. I asked to stay 2 more nights but they couldn't do it so my family and I had to find another place to stay so disapointed.
Lack of no smoking rooms
The bed was very comfortable and the location was very good considering that Beijing is such a wast city and everything is dispersed.
The bathroom was incredibly dirty. The toilet and shower looked like the cleaning personal didn't know how to clean other than with plain water causing big dark stains to be left. Carpet was stained and the hotel personels english was very poor.
I like every thing:staff, facility, location, cleanlyless etc
I like the fact that it is near in Forbidden City and other places in Beijing.
The rooms has no window.
It was right in the center of beijing. The indications aren't very clear so taxi drivers would get a bit confused. The room was nice, it had space and it was clean.
The breakfast hadn't great options of ocidental food (eggs, toasts and fruit...). The wifi was only available in the lobby. The staff barely speaked english.
Reasonable price, convenient and quiet.
Proximity to historical places such as Tiananmen Square, Forbiden City, Temple of Heaven.
Our room has no windows. Very few TV channels. And we realized that social networking is prohibited or restricted there in China.
Close to interesting sights. We walked to many parks, the Forbidden City, and Tiananmen Square.
It was hard to find until we got used to it. Taxi dropped us to walk down a narrow road about 1 1/2 blocks.
Location was good. Bed was fairly comfortable. Shower was good too.
Air-conditioning isn't room controllable but controlled by staff so it got hot. Staff didn't speak English so complaining was pointless. Don't book your trips with the person in the hotel as she seems to bend the truth about the trips, our trip to great wall was suppose to take 2 hours and it took 4, we paid more than other hotels and it wasn't a small group but a big group of 20. We wanted to take a private car there but she convinced us not to, im assuming this was for the commission.
Good location for visiting Central tourist attractions on foot. Staff helpful but English limited.
Quite a long walk to subway station. About 1 kilometre as I recall.
Location is closed to fobidden city, however, no real shopping around. And place is hard to ge too, so getting taxis and going into town can be expensive!
The people at front desk almost did not speak english. The breakfast was poor for ocidental standarts. The room smels a little bit of smoke and the carpet floor had many stains. No english channels on tv.
Check out at 2pm, Clean, Good room size.
Staff spoke very little English. Not best location.
Hotel location is nice, close to forbidden city and some other historical places.
Towels were very very old. Room was not ready and they changed my room from Deluxe to standard with same price!! the hotel even didn't know hotel didn't know my reservation before i reach. There is no WIFI in the room as mentioned on Booking.com website. There is no shuttle bus as mentioned on Booking.com website.
staff are friendly.
No WIFI in room, can't believe it's 2014.
Close to Forbidden city
Drinks in fridge were out of date...by 12 months. No reply to emails asking for airport transfer until I'd landed at Beijing airport which is too late then. No western style breakfast options.
