It's a very beautiful hotel for reasonable prices in Beijing. The staff are extremely helpful and welcoming. Rooms are nice, clean, and very quiet. They can help organize tours and also offer bike rental.
Someone had smoked in the room I'd stayed against regulations and the stench didn't during the three days I stayed there.
This was my second time with this wonderful hotel and our stay was as pleasurable as before. The location is great - close to the metro and quite central. You stay in the middle of hutongs and can see how locals live. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The facilities are beautiful and the hotel is very quiet, so it's easy to get a good sleep. Laundry service is available and it can be done in as fast as 1 day. WiFi connection is excellent too. I absolutely recommend this hotel.
The beds may be too short for someone taller. It's not the hotel's fault, but staying during the Chinese new year in China may be tricky as most businesses, stores and restaurants are closed.
friendly helpful staff
v slow wifi connection
Nice and quaint boudoir-like room, wonderful staff, pleasant neighbourhood.
The bathroom needed renovating.
the location pretty much good
when i ordered pick up to airport and they just canceled it and say that the driver didn't coming. drama in the morning. which is so anoying because the night before i already confirm it again and again.
The traditional Chinese decor made our stay seem a bit more romantic, we loved the beds with the hanging curtains even though they were a bit small. Turn down service was good, location was central and close to transport.
"Free breakfast" between 7-9am is not actually free, this only means you can have breakfast if it is already included in the rate of your room. The wording on the menu suggests otherwise.
+ a real Chinese experience hotel, in hutongs (alleys) + very friendly and helpful staff + felt safe in the neighbourhood + good price + offers guided tours
- bathroom, one of our booked rooms did not have shower curtain and when i asked for them to install one, i was told it was a misunderstanding (never got one) so check first the bathroom before you agree to have that room - bathroom, i used the other room (son's) to shower and it was clogged. took forever for water to drain completely.
the staff, the room and the fish pond!
We enjoyed the traditional atmosphere and presentation of the hotel and the staff were friendly and helpful. We would certainly stay here again
Staff could not have been more helpful, and organised activities for us.
Breakfast would be a lot nicer if the food was still warm. (Heat up the plates)
Nice food around the area.
A transation was made on my Citibank Visa on 31/7/2014 for MYR 137.16 (about CNY 261.96) when my booking been confirmed by BJG Xiao Yuan Hosterly and yet I needed to pay full amount of the room rate when I check-in on 26/12/2014. It means that I had paid one night extra of the room rate. Kindly rectify for me, thanks.
Good staffs+ can communicate and understand of our needs& And really helpful..
Location little bit far to subway but we enjoyed walking.
Beautiful room with traditional Chinese furnishings. A authentic feeling without compromise on the quality of the room. Beautiful location away from the 'tourist trap' Hutongs and right in a real community.
The glass shower fitting was a little loose so the bathroom got wet when showering.
Decoration is OK
I killed two cockroaches in room
The hotel is in an alley and is easy to locate based on the directions provided, there are street signs in Latin letters that help. To make it easier on cab drivers, print out a map from google.maps with the Chinese street names and you should be fine. Since they don´t have GPS in taxis in China, a map can ease the process of getting a ride. It´s not a scary alley: if you´ve travelled around and know what streets in Asia look like, it´s actually a really safe street, with security guards walking along. The staff is very friendly, helpful and English speaking. They helped us out with directions and recommended a great restaurant to eat typical Beijing duck. They also offer tours around Beijing and to the Great Wall, so you don´t have to worry about that. The interior is beautiful and traditional - what you´d expect a hotel in China to look like. It was also really quiet and we had a great night sleep. There is a terrace on the top floor, which is quite a quiet and nice place to relax. WiFi connection is great which may be rare in China! We´re definitely planning on coming back to this place during our next trip to Beijing!
The bed we had was quite short. It did not bother me, but may be a problem to taller people.
Location is fine, an easy 10 minutes walk from the subway station. Breakfast is OK, but boring.
Shower drain was not OK, asked staff to fix it, but it wasn't fixed.
There was a lot of mosquito, and don't have closed.
friendly & helpful personel, good location in the city centre, great price,
hotel food is only 'european' there's nothing local in the menu, could be closer to nearest metro station (15 mins walking), room air condition should have english instruction
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this welcoming hotel. The staff were so kind and helpful and always greeted us with a smile. The hotel is located in a fantastic hutong where we ate local food that was both incredible and cheap. Easy walk to metro and main city attractions like The Forbidden City and Tiannamen Square. We loved the unique atmosphere of the hotel itself. Great hot showers and traditional decor.
Our room had a window to a hallway and unfortunately it was not possible to turn off the hall light at night. This made the room bright at night. The main courtyard is lovely but there is always a guest enjoying a cigarette making it constantly smell of stale smoke and uncomfortable for guests who are non-smokers or with children to sit in the area. Wifi was tempermental.
When we arrived we got horrible room behind reception,we did not like it at all,so we upgraded one night to deluxe and then they changed us back to standart room upstairs and was really nicei. Staff helpfull, simple meals in restaurant. Would stay again...
Very beautiful chinese style tea-garden hall between neighboring. rooms, also there are little souvenir shop and restaurant. Fast wifi internet.Atmosphere.
Some people definitely won't like just because it's on the ground floor, some furniture and things looks old-fashioned as if it's been used.
Friendly staff in a non-touristic hutong, Chaoyongmen subway is near.
The shower didn't have any pressure, and took a long time to warm up. Room is quite small, so not much room to store your luggage.
Staff are nice and helpful
Saw a little cockroach appear
Half the staff couldn't understand a thing I told them. Ground floor rooms are very noisy and smell of sewage on occasion. Food is average upstairs
When I got into Beijing I was a bit disappointed at first thinking that I wanted to see the cultural and traditional side of china, not the sky scrapers and big buildings. But when I got to the hotel it felt a bit like Alice in wonderland. The hotel was in a narrow street it didn't look like much from outside, I was thinking oh go what have I done, BUT when I walked inside the reception and saw the decoration and the court yard it felt like yes this is what I came to see. The staff were always at your service and were very helpful. Me not speaking a word of chinese felt so safe and secure traveling with 3 children on my own. They booked a tour for me at the last minuite and helped me with directions and information. And my room was beautiful. It was really nicely decorated and looked amazing. The pictures on the web don't do it justice. It's really nice and highly recommended.
