Good locationn, close to central Beijing and friendly staff
Despite of the price of almost 50€/night, the single room was very small with basic amenities.
The staff makes the hotel. They really care and it shows!
Very well design in the hotel, chinese hutong style. Good wifi
Shower not good in some rooms
loved staying in a courtyard hotel.
difficult for taxi drivers to find even with a card from the hotel. I highly recommend arranging for airport pickup with the hotel. It was expensive but money well spent. The room right was right behind the front desk and was quite noisy.
Fantastic food - definitely go for the Chinese menu not the western one The rooms are well fitted out
Expect the toilets to block The location is in a pretty seedy area but its relatively close to everything Don't expect a clean bathroom - wear shoes!
The hotel room had a Chinese traditional design. The hotel is "close" to the metro - which is ~15min walk to the two different metro stations (which was really convenient)
There was basically no window in the room. The bed was not comfortable and it was hot and humid in the room.
Tube station within 10mn walk Located in a quiet street Staff friendly
We got a room in lower category due to booking error Street can be difficult to find for taxi drivers Breakfast service was slow
Proximity to sights
Pick ups were at the top of the road rather than at the hotel.
This hutong hotel has a very Chinese feel to it. Despite being located in an alley, it is very safe. Staff are helpful and friendly.
There were mosquitoes in the room. We signed up for a tour to the Great Wall and we found that we paid a little more than guests who booked from their hotels. That's fine, but the tour also brings you to shop for jades which was not that I was keen on. Thankfully, we're not forced to buy.
I like the staff because they are able to communicate in English. Location was great.
Just remember to print and bring your itinerary from www.booking.com There is also 15% service charge.
This is my preferred hotel in Beijing. I've stayed there 3 times now. Central hutong location about 20-25 minutes walk from the palace or Wangfujing, affordable and clean with *great* staff. Highly recommended for an experience of a very unique hotel.
The design and comfort of the hotel is very good! The location is also great too cause it is near to subway stops and also Hutong,
Helpful staff members despite the fact that some of its front line staff members such as waiting staff members art the bar/restaurant had no English ability.
Hope it's only room 106 which is a windowless room but that was the least of the problems. It is a very small room with the main bed and mattress that had a rattling sound. The showering cabinet's drainage was not working probably and the screen had not been sealed probably causing water leaking outside onto the bathroom everywhere. The worst aspects of this room which may be related to the drainage problem was that the room had an unpleasant and pungent sewage odour/smell which was particularly obvious when one comes in the room from outside. The fact that there was a sign in the bathroom reminding guests not to drop off used toilet paper in the close stool hadnot helped. Guests are expected to deposit used toilet paper in the bin or the closet will block! It might have been a fact of life for staying in Hutong hotels that we were not aware of before booking it.
Location is fine. We've spent six nights in this place. It's reasonably close to sights, metro stations and the atmospheric shopping street Wangfujing Dajie (don't miss the side market with it's remarkable street food). The hotel is clean and the beds are decent.
The rooms are very dark, which is depressing. One room had very little daylight, the other none. The 'restaurant' is terrible. Simple meals took more than 45 minutes (with nobody else in the restaurant) and ingredients were missing. The so called western food lacks quality. Staff ignored us and doesn't speak English.
Room (mainly bathroom) was a bit tired. Shower unit dirty and broken. Shower leaked, permanent pond behind the toilet.
Everything is perfect there, location, staff, just wonderful place. Definitely i'll visit it again.
Great location to get a real feel of old Beijing. Staff were very helpful and pleasant.
The location is good, need to walk 10-15mins to the metro/subway station. In the middle of a hutong street, nice if you want to live the local environment and eat local food. The food in their restaurant is good. Staff nice and friendly.
The room and bathroom are pretty small. The shower and sink are in the same area. Poor WIFI.
It's not as charming as you see in the pictures. Internet was horrible. Energy fell a lot in a rainy day. The bar, that is the only good place in this hostel, was never opened according to the hours they say it was. Only one girl of the staff spoke understandable English and was helpful to me.
the staff speaked very good english
Hutong area. Chinese old style. THat is of course the reason for chosing the hotel. Friendly price.
Cold personnel. Not warm. Also, it was better, more warm and personal, last year when restaurant was downstairs behind lobby. Bad smell (vomit smell) from room nextdoor. Unlucky perhaps. But uneccessary.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, which is rather rare in China. The rooms were clean and authentic and it was a nice and quiet environment, even though it is located in the heart of Beijing.
It is a good walk until you reach the subway, certainly when you're exhausted on your way back.
Nice rooms for the price. Very helpful staff and relative good english speaking. Good food and a pleasant garden. Over my expectations. The beds are a bit hard, but thats standard in china. Try the resturant next door. Will suprise you!
The living in hutong was very intresting! I offer it, when you want to see something about old China.
The bathroom was to small and wasn't clean. Chinas standard:(
