Decoration is OK
I killed two cockroaches in room
The hotel is in an alley and is easy to locate based on the directions provided, there are street signs in Latin letters that help. To make it easier on cab drivers, print out a map from google.maps with the Chinese street names and you should be fine. Since they don´t have GPS in taxis in China, a map can ease the process of getting a ride. It´s not a scary alley: if you´ve travelled around and know what streets in Asia look like, it´s actually a really safe street, with security guards walking along. The staff is very friendly, helpful and English speaking. They helped us out with directions and recommended a great restaurant to eat typical Beijing duck. They also offer tours around Beijing and to the Great Wall, so you don´t have to worry about that. The interior is beautiful and traditional - what you´d expect a hotel in China to look like. It was also really quiet and we had a great night sleep. There is a terrace on the top floor, which is quite a quiet and nice place to relax. WiFi connection is great which may be rare in China! We´re definitely planning on coming back to this place during our next trip to Beijing!
The bed we had was quite short. It did not bother me, but may be a problem to taller people.
Location is fine, an easy 10 minutes walk from the subway station. Breakfast is OK, but boring.
Shower drain was not OK, asked staff to fix it, but it wasn't fixed.
There was a lot of mosquito, and don't have closed.
friendly & helpful personel, good location in the city centre, great price,
hotel food is only 'european' there's nothing local in the menu, could be closer to nearest metro station (15 mins walking), room air condition should have english instruction
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this welcoming hotel. The staff were so kind and helpful and always greeted us with a smile. The hotel is located in a fantastic hutong where we ate local food that was both incredible and cheap. Easy walk to metro and main city attractions like The Forbidden City and Tiannamen Square. We loved the unique atmosphere of the hotel itself. Great hot showers and traditional decor.
Our room had a window to a hallway and unfortunately it was not possible to turn off the hall light at night. This made the room bright at night. The main courtyard is lovely but there is always a guest enjoying a cigarette making it constantly smell of stale smoke and uncomfortable for guests who are non-smokers or with children to sit in the area. Wifi was tempermental.
When we arrived we got horrible room behind reception,we did not like it at all,so we upgraded one night to deluxe and then they changed us back to standart room upstairs and was really nicei. Staff helpfull, simple meals in restaurant. Would stay again...
Very beautiful chinese style tea-garden hall between neighboring. rooms, also there are little souvenir shop and restaurant. Fast wifi internet.Atmosphere.
Some people definitely won't like just because it's on the ground floor, some furniture and things looks old-fashioned as if it's been used.
Friendly staff in a non-touristic hutong, Chaoyongmen subway is near.
The shower didn't have any pressure, and took a long time to warm up. Room is quite small, so not much room to store your luggage.
Staff are nice and helpful
Saw a little cockroach appear
Half the staff couldn't understand a thing I told them. Ground floor rooms are very noisy and smell of sewage on occasion. Food is average upstairs
When I got into Beijing I was a bit disappointed at first thinking that I wanted to see the cultural and traditional side of china, not the sky scrapers and big buildings. But when I got to the hotel it felt a bit like Alice in wonderland. The hotel was in a narrow street it didn't look like much from outside, I was thinking oh go what have I done, BUT when I walked inside the reception and saw the decoration and the court yard it felt like yes this is what I came to see. The staff were always at your service and were very helpful. Me not speaking a word of chinese felt so safe and secure traveling with 3 children on my own. They booked a tour for me at the last minuite and helped me with directions and information. And my room was beautiful. It was really nicely decorated and looked amazing. The pictures on the web don't do it justice. It's really nice and highly recommended.
Good breakfast & nice decoration
Room near the reception, cigarette smoke came into the room
Nice hotel at good location. We even got a free transfer to the trainstation; excellent service!
The mattress of the bed was quite hard.
The hotel is located in a authentic hutong, which is exciting.
Good location, you could easily get to the main attractions by metro or walking. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The courtyard and the rooftop bar/restaurant are good places to get to know new people. It's a hotel with the atmosphere of a hostel. Room was ok and comfortable, furniture a bit old but eveything worked. Good wifi connection.
We stayed in the deluxe family room. Two adults and our 8 year old. The location was close to the main attractions and the closest subway was only a ten minute walk away. The staff were young and friendly and spoke good English. Our room was fab, really clean and spacious.
The hotel restaurant offered a western menu which was handy but the choice was limited and the food though satisfactory wasn't great.
+ clean room´s + helpfull and very complaisant stuff + good organized stuff + varied amusement + free wifi and a seperate PC near reception desk can be used w/o charge + when get booking, you get a reservation acknowledgment from hotel and a direction plan how to find the hotel
- surroundings needs getting used to be comfortable
Nice rooftop cafe/deck for some morning or evening tea. Very friendly and accommodating staff.
2 rooms behind front desk are very loud due to a shared street wall on one side, and the calls and front door bell of the desk constantly ringing. Bathroom also has drainage issues, which I think is endemic of the Hutongs, but still makes for a musty place to sleep.
Friendly staff who were always helpful answering tourist questions.
This hotel is a great little find, not super polished but full of character with comfortable rooms and a great ambience. The young staff never stop smiling and are brilliantly helpful...I booked based on price but the hotel delivered so much more!
The location was pretty good. In the Hutong close to a metro station. The beds were beautifull and ours was comfortable.
Some of the staff spoke great English, however the restaurant staff did not. Food came that we did not order, it was expensive for the quality and quantity of food we got and our order was wrong nearly every single time. Very funny the first night it happened, less funny at breakfast...
The staff are absolutely the stand out part of this hotel. They are so friendly and helpful and keen to practice their english, great for me who didn't speak a word of Chinese! They even made me some off-menu vegetarian dumplings from scratch, which was the best food I had when I was there. Easily accessible to public transport and walkable to Wangfujing and if you are a keen walker like me even the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square (45 minutes plus for those two)
The bed was a bit hard, but I've come to expect that pretty much throughout Asia. The toilet was a little bit funky, but again that would be tiny drains that don't allow paper to be flushed down them!
Helpful, friendly staff.
Room smelled like sewerage. Hard to find. Wi-Fi worked sometimes
Very nice courtyard and room
noise in the courtyard in the early morning door that you can lock with a small and ridiculous padlock.
