The friendly staff who spoke excellent English and were very well informed, the traditional feel and decor of the reception and rooms, lots of red paintwork and red lanterns, however if you want the anonymity of a Holiday Inn, this is not for you
Although somewhat quaint, the showers were inadequate, the water was scolding hot and not adjustable and the shower head wasn't fixed
There was a hole in the ceiling of our room, water damage as well. Bathroom was dirty, towels smelled of cigarettes. Pictures on website is misleading. Location was hard to find.
Super location, helpful staff, nice courtyard for relaxing and meeting people, comfy beds, lots of character, quiet
A little hard to find, but worth it.
Quaint little courtyard hotel in a prime spot near Tianammen Square and the Forbidden City, nestled in the Hutongs with good shopping and eating all around. I arrived by morning train from Harbin and they let me check in early! (9:30 am!) I will definitely stay here again!
The location is great - walking distance to all of the main sites in the center of the city. However, it's a bit difficult for taxis to find since it's in an alley. Extremely nice staff with good English ability - they even shared some moon cakes with my family. Definitely an interesting place to stay because of the central courtyard and decorations. Beds were clean and sheets washed every day.
The cleanliness won't be at the same level as what you see in most Western-style hotels. Carpets were a bit dirty and the place could've used more dusting.
The courtyard, the kind helpful staff (took us to taxi, reserved for us, lephed in every possible way) the family atmosphere there
Not much space to put clothes, and unfortunately, bathroom was just ok? Quite mouldy and damp, shower didn't really work...
Excellent location, just a few minutes walk to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Welcoming and helpful staff who spoke a little English. Small hotel with lots of character.
Difficult to find on arrival (taxi driver had to ask locals) - fine once you know where it is!
A real chinese feel to the hotel, small and comfortable.
Although Just off tiananmen square the hotel we felt was difficult to find.
1. One of the most important items we looked for was the fact that pets are allowed and they are welcome to stay free of charge. 2. The second thing was the location as well as the price. 3. Friendliness of the staff and their help was also a big plus; they are all very attentive, kind, ready to listen and help. They know enough English to understand jokes and pay attention to details. 4. The atmosphere is nice and the ambiance is attractive.
1. Well, it is not easy to say this but whoever is in charge, needs to work making this place spotless in the rooms and outside the rooms. I understand that the furniture, paintings, and other items are antique, and may not be that easy to polish it all; however, there is a need for another pair of hands to know how to clean well and not only what to clean. I guess training is the answer to this one. Please understand, I am saying it with empathy and not anger... These people are all good people but they need guidance. 2. Sometimes, it was too noisy for the moderate space; people were too loud, TV was on a full blast, and kids did whatever they wanted. That was a bit frustrating. If there were some rules put on the wall as people come in in two languages - Chinese and English - I think, everybody's life would be a bit easier...
rankness in room
Great location, close to Tian'amen East metro & walking distance of Forbidden City/Tian'amen Sq. Rooms exceeded expectations for a great price and staff were really helpful. Definite recommendation.
The lady stayed up an extra hour trying to help sort out our last minute travel arrangements. Hugely appreciated.
Unique experience staying in a courtyard hutong. Close proximity to Tiananmen Square. Friendly and helpful staff. Definitely not 5 star, but we weren't expecting that anyway!
The location was good and the front desk attendant spoke English, and the hotel had wifi.
I was very disappointed with the hotel. It was not quaint or picturesque; I would describe it as shabby. Our room was right on the small "courtyard" and wasn't private at all. I was forced to cancel our reservation and find accommodations elsewhere. I would not recommend this hotel.
The staff were great...and the location perfect, if I come to Beijing Again i'lI would love to stay at your place....
I loved the location - and the staff spoke good english and was always willing to help. The courtyard was a nice place to gather. They allowed me to check in early which was very kind. It was clean with good bedding and towels.
The courtyard could be noisy in the evenings since a table was right next to my room and the hot water for the shower was difficult to control.
The Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Walking distance to every major site
Feel like at home , can sit together at the yard , so warm .
The bed are soft n bend at the centre part , need to change a new .Toilet are pp.
The staff, expecially the young girl who helped us very much.
The entrance of the hotel is very very bad.
