Quintessential Beijing hutong experience in a very convenient location (walking distance to Forbidden City etc and lots of eating options including cheap street snacks nearby).
It is an older building - and generally this adds to the charm and authenticity! But the airconditioning in one of the rooms didn't work very well and we also had a problem with mosquitos. You need to mentally prepare yourself for to expect very hard mattresses if that's not what you are used to!
The staff’s style, professional training is needed. The smell. Deco is very tired.
Services are poor, staffs didn't speak English, rude, not helpful, wifi was suck didn't work until the last minutes, beds were hard, window lock were broken. They didn't make up any rooms that family stayed in. Lots of dust under the beds, rooms were dark, no closet, refrigerator, only provided toothbrush n toilet paper, towels need to be replace. We had to wait about 10 mins. for water to get hot. All furniture were really old, there were some stain looked like mold on the wall near the bathroom. One of my family's room were left open after they refilled the toothbrush n toilet paper because I had locked it before we left in the morning. It's not worth the money to stay at this hotel. It's a horrible experience that I've ever had. So please stay away from this hotel.
Located in the center of the city, 15 min walk from Tiananmen square,20-30 min walk from temple of heaven and 1min from Qianmen street
After we checked in suddenly non of the staff knew english anymre
In the center of bejin Reception speak a little bit English
Wfi only near the reception Old and wet room Thin windows, very noisy
The ambiance was historical Chinese with rooms directly off from a small square courtyard. The room was clean, some wallpaper peeling at the seams since it was thick and needed to be glued down, but the room was clean and in good repair otherwise Single rooms catered to solo travelers. Good location near shopping and sights. Excellent air conditioner in room.
The rooms directly into the courtyard could be noisy if people were talking/visiting (it was quiet the night I was there.) Shower head opening directly onto small bathroom over the toilet (not uncommon in low to medium priced hotels in China). Slightly difficult finding the hotel.
Really authentic surroundings in Hutong. Nice courtyard.
Lcoation was terrific, lots of eating places nearby and Tian An Men square just a 10 minute walk away. Staff were so friendly. Good shower & clean bathroom.
we had a small room with no window but this was because we were given the "family room"; two connected rooms, so we considered this reasonable. They were air conditioned.
Price and location in the old hutong area.
The position is quite good, just 5 minutes walking from Tiananmen Square and in the middle of a colourful neighboorhood full of restaurants. The environment is typical chinese, suggestive one.
The day we had to leave none was at the reception (early morning). The room was small and probably there was already inside an insect/animal that kept on make noise without appearing.
No matres just a table. Bathroom smells horrible
Family run business with friendly atmosphere. Great location relatively close to subway. Close to hutong. Close to Forbidden City. Cozy patio. Quiet streets at night.
The service room could dust the place a bit more.
Nice location, walking distance from Tianmen Square and Forbidden City and lots of restaurants and shops
Staff wasn't very friendly, hard beds, rooms not very clean
Near to attractions such as Tiannamen square, Forbidden City and Walking Street of Hutong.
One of the lady receptionist was very rude due to her lack of English speaking skills and her nature of not considering guests requests. The other girl was good and always defended me when I am "attacked" by the impolite receptionist. I would not stay at the hotel anymore in the future. Very difficult to find the hotel and it is about 20 minutes walk to the nearest subway station,Qianmen. The room is small and the toilet is "smelly".
The location is just the greatest. Staff were helpful and we would stay again.
The beds were a little bit harder than we are used to, but the overall experience made up for it.
10 minutes walk from Tiananmen square and surrounded by restaurants.
The couple that had booked (through another web site) and were turned away because the hotel hadn't opened the email. Being told they had no rooms when your web site said they had. Being denied access at 6pm to the room I had booked because the previous person had not checked out.
Location, a very city center. Hutong still exists. The staff comunicates in English, what is rare in Beijing.
No window rooms. Relatively expensive.
Very traditional Chinese style. Right off of Qianmen Street and shopping vendors. Location for The Forbidden City and Tienanmen Square was spectacular.
The staff's English was not as good as other hotels in the Beijing area. Only was able to properly communicate with one member of the staff and that was only when he was there. Very unhelpful when it came for asking directions and assistance with tours. Tried to not honor my reservation and only did when I complained.
Close to Tiananmen Square and tube station. Restaurant with big discount for guests. Old style of hotel itself.
Kids playing from early morning and adults making a lot of noise till late evening just in a front of my both windows.
I enjoyed the fact that the staff was so courteous. Everything was neat and clean and quiet.
The items in the cafetaria were limited, although the lady there was very polite.
The hotel's location was convenient for shopping, sightseeing, and great restaurants. The room was cozy like a cabin. The water pressure in the shower was outstanding. Also we booked at a great price.
The only complaint I have is hotel staff hounded my partner and me for information regarding where we work in China on two separate occasions. (This is the first time any hotel's ever asked for this information in two years living/traveling abroad.) I refused to give our personal information to the hotel and instructed them to contact the Foreign Affairs Bureau where my work information is on file. The hotel's questioning and insistence we provide this information was excessive, disrespectful, and questionable.
Location. It's a few steps away from a vibrant Qianmen street with lots of shops/restaurants and about 8 mins walk to subway. The interior of the hotel (excluding rooms) is also nice if you're into old Chinese stuff. Free toiletries.
The bathroom had a disgusting smell, the room was not too clean (mold on windows, etc.). The slippers provided were dirty, hence couldn't use them and had to wear shoes inside all the time.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping did an excellent job of keeping our room clean.
Wifi was terrible with very little connectivity. In the two rooms we stayed in, the smell of sewage in the bathroom was very strong.
Good location, close to Qianmen street and metro station Qianmen. Traditional proper Chinese interior, which fits the cultural experience of ancient Beijing. Price is quite Ok.
Slightly cold during winter, but you can make the room warm with separate heating system.
