Loved the local Chinese touch of the hotel and room design with very relaxing outdoor space 5Min walk in a small street in the price to pay to reach this quiet area if the cab driver doesn't know the street

Very helpful friendly staff and a very spacious, well appointed room. Lovely breakfasts and not too far from the central tourist attractions. The Hu-tong location gives you a real flavour of the old pre-modernised Beijing. A great place to stay and I would definitely recommend. Narrow Hu-tong access made it difficult to get taxis to the hotel which may prove a problem for some.

The hotel is very clean, excellent service. The staff there will go the extra miles to help you. They're very friendly and the breakfast is fantastic. The location is very nice, and I feel very safe walking around even at night around that place. If you're not familiar with China and would want to stay in a "design" boutique hotel without comprising the comfort, I think this would be a nice place to choose. The place is inside the Hutong, if you're a single woman traveling by yourself, and like to go back home at late hours, this place is probably not for you. The alley is quite dark and and the man that could come out from the dark alley corners could be a put off if you're traveling by yourself. Though, if you have 2 people walking, it is okay. I do not feel un safe in the neighborhood. I would not recommend this hotel for people that have mobility problem. It does take 5-10 mins walk to get to the hotel even from the main street.

Great location in a traditional hutong. Dongcheng district is very good for exploring Beijing. The staff was very friendly and recommened restaurant and trips. A driver picked us up from the airport, so we had no problem to find the hotel. The breakfast was delicious. Unfortunately, the heating did not work properly in one of our suites. But this is not only a problem of this hotel - also in restaurants you have to wear your parka in winter times.

The room and bathroom were spacious. There was a Timeout China in our room, which really helped us pick out some shows. I really like the overhead shower head, and they had a safe. The breakfast was outstanding, considering it was included in the price. It was tradition Chinese with a mix of Western cooking. Stuffed dumplings with egg and veggies, toast, coffee, tea, and Chinese pancakes, yogurt with granola. Each breakfast was a bit different, and kept us full until late afternoon. We also had a couple of late night little meals, which were equally good, and a lot of vegetarian choices for my husband. The wine choices were also very good. The staff was very helpful with directions, setting up a driver and my husband had his suit cleaned from his business trip and it was $8.00. Unfortunately, we could not enjoy the courtyard as it was winter. It looked really great. They also had a sitting area inside to read magazines, etc. You have to be aware that you walk through a very, old, traditional alley (a hutong), for a good five minutes before you come to the hotel. If this is not your thing, go to a big hotel. I had heard that beds in China were quite hard, and they were, so I wasn't so surprised. They made up for it with really great pillows. I absolutely loved the feel of the room. Unfortunately, the towels were quite scratchy. It could just be the way things are there, so I wasn't so bothered. They were nice, big towels, which was great. The only other minor issues was I really wanted to experience Beijing's famous duck. I did have some places picked out, but instead we went with a recommendation from the hotel. The driver took us there after we went to a show. I do not know the name of the place, but it was in this back alley. They pre-ordered the duck, so we felt compelled to go in. It had a number of awards on the wall for the best duck in Beijing and there was a mixture of Western and Chinese in the tiny restaurant. The hotel was so thoughtful to help us, but unfortunately, I was not comfortable with the level of cleanliness in the restaurant. It was really difficult to enjoy the duck. Fortunately, some Australian's in their 20's were there, and took the rest of the duck off our hands. It was my own fault for not being specific in what I wanted. So, it's just an fyi when you ask for assistance. Be specific.

Cozy comfort. Very quiet and peaceful. Charming and accommodating staff. Highly competent House Cats (approx four) roam the courtyard and are allowed in the main office, but not in rooms; these cats keep rodent population under control (remember, this hotel is in the middle of a hutong, and other means of rodent control are not only environmentally bad, but bad for health of people and other animals. Do not stay in a hutong hotel unless a well-maintained feline staff is on duty 24/7!) These cats were also very friendly to guests and were a positive influence on homey ambiance. Arghghg! WHY are there any Chinese hotels still rationing toilet paper? The war is over and economy is not so bad. Yet Cote Cour doles out TP one roll at a time. This practice casts a dark shadow over any stay as guests are constantly stressing about whether that TP will run out at a time of critical need, how to make yourself understood during the emergency phone call to the desk. ANY hotel charging over $100 per night can solve this problem for a few cents a day.. They got the CATS right TP wrong. Breakfast was limited to yogurt, two slices of toast, dumplings and hard boiled egg. Dinner similarly limited to what cook has on hand; I did not eat dinner there, partly because of the potluck menu.

The design and atmosphere of this hotel really is what it sets it appart from others. I've been in china for a long time now and I haven't seen many hotels that combine cultural heritage and modernity as good as hotel cote court! Some minor touch up paint job in the rooms might have been useful.

Wonderful ambience you go back to the ancient China, beautiful design of garden and lounge/restaurant area. Congratulation to the owners to have the courage to keep the place in line with old china design. Difficult to find. Rooms smelling bad and are small.

Peace and quiet in a Hutong a different experience from statying in one of the big international hotels without any charm. Breakfast was included which is rare in Beijing. Cosy sitting room and charming breakfast area to while away the time on a cold winter's day. Free WIFI in all areas. The hotel wasn't that good value for money and didn't feel as luxurious as the website and photos would suggest. The rooms were actually quite small and the bathroom pokey with no where to put anything. Also as is often the case with Hutong hotels the rooms can be quite noisy on a courtyard if you have inconsiderate neighbours. It was snowy in Beijing when we were there and there was a big problem with water leaking into the communal areas.

Cote Cour Beijing is a rare gem. The Hutongs are a very special historical part of the heritage of Beijing. This hotel has kept its old world charm but at the same time has a modern stylish elegant feel to it. I loved enjoying a cup of tea in the peaceful courtyard or on the roof sun terrace. The staff could not have been more pleasant, friendly or helpful. I will definitely go back there and stay again and will recommend this special place to all my friends. No dislikes

A real pearl in the middle of a traditional hutong in the center of Beijing! Entering the hutong area from a busy modern street and walking to the hotel in the dark evening you feel like stepping a hundred years back in time. Then through the unobtrusive red door into a quiet courtyard with red lanterns and a goldfish pool with a Buddha statue - what a surprise! Mornings, on your walk back to the 21st century, you see people living their traditional lives in the hutong, a glimpse of older, rapidly vanishing Beijing. For the price of the Cote Cour room you could certainly get a luxurious ordinary hotel room - and have a stay in Beijing just like a stay in any big city of the world, with nothing worth remembering.

This is an outstanding hutong courtyard boutique hotel - beautiful, tasteful decor, and a lovely ambiance (it is sublimely serene here). Whoever designed this haven, had an eye for architecture and design. The staff is courteous and helpful. If you are looking for classy accommodation in a traditional setting, this is the place to go! It is situated within easy walking distance of Wangfujing Street and has easy access to all the attractions via Beijing's subway system. During my stay, families and solo travelers on business were finding the Hotel Cote Cour Beijing a little bit of an oasis within the hustle and bustle of Beijing. This hotel is exquisite. No complains at all.

Friendly and helpful staff, relaxing and quiet surrounding and good breakfast. The location is in an old and dark alley, which makes it hard to find the place. Although its shows as a 5 star, it actually seemed to me more of a guest house than a hotel. So it’s worth booking for one night and trying the place first!
