Donghu Garden Hotel, Shanghai  

Feels like living in history within a luxurious environment. If intending to use the immaculate swimming pool, remember to bring a swimming head cap, alternately buy one on location for y50.

Fantastic location, beautiful hotel and quiet rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to two subway stops, but we preferred the Changshu Rd stop because it was a lot less busy and you could avoid all the street vendors who refuse to take no for an answer.

The location. It is located in the heart of the French Concession. And the price ...very reasonable.

Rooms are very standard. Doesn't have an air open bar like in the pics.

The location is ideal, in the heart of Puxi with access to excellent restaurants and the rest of central Shanghai. Comfortable large rooms and in easy walking distance from Changshu metro or South Shaanxi metro station. They also offered to look after our luggage for two weeks while we travelled elsewhere.

The hotel is in a fantastic location surrounded by excellent restaurants.

great swimming pool, good breakfast for reasonable price

I like the location of the hotel. It is close to a metro stop and the shopping streets. There's a good coffee shop across which was very convenient as I found the breakfast in the hotel expensive. There are restaurants and bars around in all price range. The building also has a lot of history and the interior is very nice and reflective of the period it was built. If I have the chance to return to Shanghai I will book this hotel again.

The room is very spacious with a big balcony. The service is good with prompt response. We are happy with the location of the hotel.

The buffet breakfast is valued for money, but there is still room for improvement in food quality, especillay in western food. There should be more choices of cereals and fruit if possible.The carpet in the room needs to be replaced or cleaned better.

Your front desk and restaurant staff was very courteous and helpful.The rooms were well kept, comfortable and warm.The location is perfect for people that want to enjoy the former "French Concession" which still has much of the architecture and housing of the 30's. Pleasant walking areas with many small shops and "street food" stalls.

We were disappointed that the swimming pool was not open.

Reception, doorman are very kind and helpful. They showed me the way to the spot where I would like to go, so no issue in sightseeing.

staff were very helpful and the rooms were spacious. comfortable beds. Great to be able to open the windows. Location was great - interesting neighbourhood and good local and international food nearby. Close to public transport.

the temperature in the corridors and rooms on the 5th floor was much too hot. I understand it was set to 'winter' setting, but I believe that even this is far too warm. I would be comfortable with 20C settings, or even 18C.
