The location and the friendly staff is a Plus. The room I picked via booking was surprisingly the oldest the hotel could offer. I felt like in a cheap Chinese owned hotel when I entered my first room. I asked for a more newer one and finally had to deal with a 300 rmb additional charge per night which I even had to negotiate down from 380 rmb called as first offer. Not so nice. The rest was O.K. and the stay was acceptable. Nice gym.

I enjoyed the hotel it was fair. However the location whilst good for shoping was the worst I have stayed in because of beggers, prostitutes, and criminals wanting to take you to a girlie bar and charge rediculas prices and threaten death if you dont pay. Chinese govenment must stop this or tourists will stop visiting china. Jim Wilson Australian.

Good location, and got a reasonable rate for a quality hotel in Shanghai with a nice atmosphere. Good (if expensive) buffets etc. Staff all helpful. Really, in the modern world wifi should be available and free in a 4+ star hotel used by business people. Wifi is no longer an extra, it's a requirement. Price is outrageous here. The "classic room" is more basic than you expect at a Sofitel, especially the small combined shower/bath, but the price was good, so cannot complain too much.

Location. Standard rooms are shabby, and could do with an upgrade. I have earlier stayed in Executive rooms, which are much more agreeable. Basic breakfast selection.

The executive floor offering. The girls there were very helpful and efficient and when you are on business that is useful. Having a package with internet and breakfast is is good. The room could have been a little larger for the price.

We like the location right in middle of shoppin mall, breakfast was well spread, hotel staff friendly and helpful. We stay in other 4 stars hotel in China, their rooms are much bigger and better design for the bathroom. This hotel is design is rather old and room are small when compared. Wallrope door near fall off, difficult to slide. I will only recommend to friend who only looking for convenince but someone want comfort.

The staff at front desk was very prompt in changing the room on my second day when I mentioned that it was not suitable for older folks. The staff change a room with safety bar in the toilet without fuss. Excellent service to receive in Shanghai! They even arranged for a roll- away bed as the second room was a king bed and not 2 beds as I have requested. Detail to request so I think this is really where the staff stands out. Kudos to your front desk staff. The 3-1 coffee was not refilled on my 2nd day as I was out on a day trip. On 3rd day when I requested housekeeping to replenish stock, they provided only the coffee satchets on arrival. Only when I insisted that they came back with another 2 satchets of 3-1 coffee. To me, these 3-1 coffee doesn't cost much to provide me with extras as I am a coffee drinker and just wanted to laze in the room and not going to the malls. Not a big deal but just a little feedback.

I loved its location right in the heart of Shanghai. We had 2 cups of coffee and the price was exorbitant more than twice the price of next door.

The room was excellent. I had wired Internet and WiFi and the standard European 2 pin socket was in the room which meant I didn't have to worry about adaptors. Within walking distance of the Bund. Be careful not to accept an offer to go to a tea drinking ceremony as its a scam. The only thing missing was a swimming pool. Other than that it was fantastic.

The location was fantastic, right smack in the middle of East Nanjing Rd and yet you don't hear the hustle and bustle at all. And its only about 15 mins walk to The Bund. I have also asked them to put in a baby cot for my room and though the housekeeping brought in a play pen instead for the first round, after a short explanation of what I wanted, she changed it without hesitation quickly. My husband also used the gym facilities which was pretty comprehensive. The hotel is not very near to good eating places so you have to plan beforehand where you want your meals to be. Speaking of which, the concierge staff on the ground floor misguided us to a restaurant which was already closed one hour before. In the end, we have to take the 15 mins taxi ride back to the hotel again and ordered room service since all restaurants were closed by then.So they should update their information on what they wish to recommend.
