Location, Breakfast, Spacious courtyard room
We had an excellent stay at Hotel Kapok. The room was extremely clean and stocked with lots of toiletries and accessories. Located next to the Forbidden City and Wangfujing Street which saved us a lot on travel expenses.
Some street noise.
Clean rooms and experienced staff.
Glass bathrooms without a door. There are curtains that can be pulled to provide some privacy.
I have booked the Hotel for only a night while on my way from Beijing to Chengdu. It was a good hotel with WIFI available in the room, more than enough complementary accessories, friendly staff and a short distance to the Forbidden City and Wangfujing Rd.
However the room could use a bit more cleaning: the sheets had some stains as did the sofa cushios and the bath looked a bit dirty. The staff speak very little english and often do not understand you: I asked if there was an exchange office in the hotel and while the morning receptionist answered with a firm yes, the night receptionist told me I could only exchange money in a bank. When I explained that his colleague assured me I could also do it in the hotel, he agreed to exchange my money, but he did so at a much lower rate. If I find myself in Beijing again, I would also explore other hotel options.
Great location. Friendly staff. Great value.
The English of some of the staff was marginal to non-existent. That is not a big problem because we should adapt when we are in another country.
- hotel is located within walking distance to Forbidden City and Wangfujing shopping belt. - excellent service from staff Leo. I arrived at the hotel at approx 11.30am. Knowing that I am only spending a night and have limited time to explore Beijing, Leo had given me an early check in and a free upgrade as my original allocated room was not ready yet. He had also given very practical tips and information. Very responsible. He even turned down my tip when I left the hotel for airport. Really 5 star service in this boutique hotel. - well-thought facilities. Facilities in the room was sufficient. My favourite is the sauna room in the basement. As I was catching a midnight flight, they have granted me access to the sauna room to shower with complete toiletries. Very clean as well.
- Wifi is slow and disrupted intermittently especially in the room - walls are not soundproof. Could hear footsteps and doors opening/closing from the corridor. - other than Leo, the other staffs were so-so.
Service was fast as when we called to say that we do not have a kettle, it was brought to the room in less than 5 mins. Staff also recommended suitable tour to Great Wall after they assess we would prefer a English speaking guide. As our flight was midnight, they allowed us to check out at 2pm and stay at lobby till evening and assisted to get a cab to the airport. Hotel is quiet even though we see tour groups passing by every day to Forbidden City which is within walking distance.
Nothing in particular with the hotel though when we send an email in English a couple of days before trip to confirm reservation, there was no response. Only when we sent in Chinese did we get a immediate reply.
The staff is very very helpful
Quiet decent stay near forbidden city, but a little to far from subway. Staff speak enough English for tourist questions.
Staff was very pushy for us to book a Great Wall group tour with them. We ended up using them to arrange private car to the wall, that worked very fine. The hotel is already very worn, especially bathrooms(we have stayed in two different rooms). Bed and towels were clean but floor and other surfaces not. Mold in the shower...
Though a bit far from the metro station it's close to the east exit of the forbitten city and the night market is really close. Staff was very friendly and spoke some English.
The fact that there was no door to the bathroom but a curtain would be acceptable. The big problem was the drain of the shower. Even while taking a really short shower first the toilet compartment was flooded then the rest of the bathroom. Cleanliness was ok but not what you would expect from a hotel of this category. Though looking modern most of the furniture and especially the bathroom needs some refurbishment.
Welcome drink Friendly staff booked my tour for Great Wall Big bathroom with rain shower Mini fridge Lobby with patio and library Location 10 min from forbidden city
Room with garden view is a hoax, not worth it, just a tree inside the hotel so not really outside balcony Hallways dirty and rooms need paint job Smells of smoke, lots debris collecting bathroom tiles Restaurant dinner not good, no wonder it is empty
The cleanliness and helpfulness of the staff. The location is also very good. It is one of the better boutique hotels. The only minor issue is that they should have additional chairs. Stools would have been perfect.
Very fashionable little suite. They handled booking change ok. The location close to the Forbidden City was about as good as you could ask for.
The location was very good, the room was clean and pleasent.
The room is designed poorly. There is very little space between the bed and the table designed for the computer, thus when one sits at the computer the other cannot cross by. Also, the bed had only a spring box with no mattress above. When complained, they gave us several blankets to spread above. We could still feel the springs.
Cici the receptionist was excellent. The location is perfect for travellers. The restaurants across the road are very good and Subway is just across the road too.
Nice n beautiful boutique hotel. Within walking distance to Forbidden city, Wangfujing Walking St n subway. A nice n value for money Renhe eating house opposite the hotel.
Bed rather hard for us n air con not as cold during the last night of stay but still comfortable fine.
Everything was great. Location, price, accommodation. Would definitely stay there again
We were able to check in early and were upgraded to a fantastic suite! We organised the acrobatics show through the hotel - it was fantastic. The staff man who helped us was fantastic. All staff spoke good english which is definitely not the norm in our experience. The room was clean, comfortable and the wifi was string. We ate twice at the restaurant - one was the best meal we had in China. Great location and we could not have been happier with this hotel!
The location is great. It's a short walk to the Forbidden City and there are lots of local food outlets around the area.
Wifi in the room was unstable
Boutique vibe, modern designed hotel. The suite is huge, a walk-in wardrobe, and a bath that's practically a pool for the kids. Location is literally down the road from the Forbidden city. We pre booked a private tour taxi/mini bus to take us everywhere, including the Great Wall and Summer Palace. Silk Market is incredible for cloned luxury brand goods, including bags, clothes, shoes, watches, and for the kids, a huge selection of toys.
Very slow internet, and a lot of sites are banned in China. No Facebook or Google, so google maps is no use on your devices. Beware the rip-off rick-shaw after the Forbidden City, we asked to be taken to Tiananmen squar, instead we got a confusing tour of the poor housing area and then dropped off near where we started. Never ever take Rickshaws, we ended-up taking two official taxis for half the price we paid for the Con.
Staff was really helpful. Especially Eric. When we were there he gave us lots of useful information about traval Beijing. That was really helpful.
Fast check in. That's about it
1. Everything else. Stayed in this chain's property before (another city) and the stay was excellent. Cannot say the same about this property. I booked this property thinking can't go too wrong. Boy am I so wrong. First, no way a traveller nor taxi driver can locate the hotel , not when you have just the property logo (mind you just logo no name) at the facade and nothing else. The hotel name smack right above the building helps nobody (completely blocked by trees) unless you arrive in a helicopter. 2. Bell boy, if he is one, looks on as you struggle with your luggage up the pathetic ramp that reminiscence the train station's. Hardly functional and very clumsy to use. 3. The metal bathroom fixtures are stained, old school and prisony-like (matter of personal taste I guess). WC buttons are dirty I wished they were sterilised. 4. Worst bit: stained linens and frayed towels. I picked the dark towels and pretended they are clean. They are bleached by the way. For what it's worth, towel replacements can't be that costly in China? Do they need to bleach and wash the linens till they look like rags? The property looks fancy but that's about it. Stay Away. I was so glad I had just one night here.
Location is great.
We really liked the location; across the street was a bit of "old China" with a few traditional small family restaurants, just blocks from fancy western shopping and only blocks from the Forbidden City. We liked the stylish room and didn't mind the "open" bathroom, which had a curtain to pull for privacy. The breakfast buffet was wonderful and the staff were pleasant and helpful
