The Phoenix Hostel Shanghai

화장실이 바 안에 있어서 너무너무 좋아요. 개인적인 분위기도 마음에 들어요. 하지만 위치상 지하철역에서 느낌상 그렇게 가깝지는 않네요...

localisation (close to metro), staff very helpfull, roof top, room are nice and confortable, great deal for small budget!

Good English speaking stuff, free wi-fi in the rooms, rooms contain everything you need. There is good chinese restaurant in the same building. The street where the hotel is located is food street.

Rooms were clean and hostel is in a great locations, very close to people's square metro so convenient to many lines and walking distane to the bund. Situated on one of shanghais food streets lots of restaurants around. Try number 28 or downstairs. Helpful staff and yummy (but slow!) breakfasts sandwiches.

Nothing! We had to move as booked out and second place wasn't nearly as continent.

The staff speaks good English, is very helpfull, friendly and nice. The location is excellent, 2 min from dashijie metro station and 5/10 min from people's square. The bar on the rooftop is lovely, they make the best sandwiches of shanghai and are exquisite people!!! Best choice!

The location is good. The staff could speak English. Credit card was available, but I had to pay 100RMB for deposit of the room key.

I loved everything about the Phoenix. The rooms were comfortable...the beds were large in the twin suite. The room was spacious. The staff was very polite and accommodating and spoke english. The location was 3 blocks from the Metro and walking distance to Nanging Rd and the Bund. The rooftop bar was a great place to meet people after a day of shopping. The bartender Fei Fei was very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely go back.

Very strategic location, close to People's Square metro station & Dashijie metro station. Staff is friendly. Hostel has a rooftop bar.

Restrooms need to be constantly cleaned.

Very nice staff. Room clean and comfortable. There is a nice bar-terrace at the 5th floor.

Breakfast was not included, it could be taken on the upstairs ba, but very expensive.

Great location, most of Shanghai's sights are within walking distance. It's located on a recommended food street. The hostel has a roof top bar for residents and the restaurant attached it is pretty good (popular with locales too).

Mouses' squeak (they live in the walls). I stayed on the 2nd floor Bad shower - no hot water (ok, there is warm water, but that level of temperature is not enought to take shower ~15c!!!)

The first night there were no hot water, but they fixed it later.

The location is very central to all tourist hot-spots in Shanghai. Very close to People's Square and Metro Lines 1,2 & 8. The staff were very helpful and spoke good English. The rooftop bar was the best place to hang out and meet some other travelers!

The rooms should have more electrical outlets. Unable to charge phone or laptop & watch TV at same time.

The staff all spoke some English and were very helpfull. The restaurant on the ground floor was very good value, and the rooftop bar excellent for meeting people or just chilling out with a book or lap top. Beer got to be the cheapest in town.

Location is very good for the price. Two steps away from People's Square and Museum, nice street with cheap restaurants and fruit shop close by. You can walk to Bund - it's a long way, but doable. Big, clean rooms, bunk beds, but good ones, personal light near bed, all well furnished.

Stuff was pretty damn clueless and barely spoke English - weird for Shanghai. You have to wait for one guy who is not very friendly, but competent. Others are nice girls and guy who can barely find the Bund on the map. No free maps, but you can force one out of them. No boiling kettle in the room, but you can get hot water in corridor. It's a strange place - mostly great, but sometimes there is no cold water (hot - yes!), I could never find toilet paper, other strange things happen...

Great place, laid back and relaxed. Good value for money and the roof top bar is a great place to relaxe. The crowd although mostly american when I was there was good :-). The rooms are clean and showers and facilities good. Definately worth a recommendation.
