The Dragon King Hostel is ideally in the heart of Beijing, a 5-minute walk from line 5 Zhangzizhong Road subway station. Housed in a historic Beijing courtyard, it provides free Mandarin lessons.
Score from 1004 reviews Very good
Beautiful Oriental decor and Chinese architecture are featured at Beijing Qianmen Courtyard Hotel, a short 15-minute walk from Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City.

In a 100-year old courtyard in Beijing's Hutong area, Hyde Courtyard Hotel is about 320 yards from Qianmen Metro Station.

The Beijing Saga Youth Hostel is in a traditional Chinese hutong courtyard, a 10-minute walk from Dengshikou subway station (Line 5). It has free Wi-Fi in several rooms.
Score from 380 reviews Good
Great location, and an awesome place to meet people as a solo traveller with a good common area. Close to public transport, shops and food places. Cheap price for budget travellers.
The place felt dirty, dorms were cramped (I stayed in a 6-bed dorm). Wifi was temperamental in the rooms. No kitchen if you wanted to prepare your own food. I got bitten by a lot of mosquitoes in my room and there seemed to be an animal of some sort (vermin?) living in the ceiling above my bunk! Basically you get what you pay for.
A little loud in the night
Tour to the great tour is recommended if you like to hike a little. Almost no other tourists, 3h time to hike part of the restored wall and get back. Hostel has a good location in Beijing and people are friendly and mostly helpful.
In the Rooms in the courtyard you can hear every word from everyone, so sleeping isn't that easy. No shower curtain so you flood the whole bathroom when you shower.
Courtyard and bar. Prices for food and drink were very cheap. Location was excellent.
Beds are rock solid. Dorm was dark and because of lack of air it stank. Toilets were smelly.
Staffs were helpfull.
Upstairs/ 6Rm dorm bathroom small was uncomfortable.
I like the café and bar, the hostel is close to all the sightseeing, really clean hostel.
No Wi-Fi in the rooms, only in the café and bar, the beds in the common room, not too comfortable.
Friendly staff, close to subway and easy to grab some food.
Dormitory with 14 beds has only one toilet.
Friendly staff, great shared space to relax & chat to other travelers, English speaking staff helped this damsel in distress when all lines of communication seemed lost, followed up with a cuppa and a natter on the sofa with lovely staff named 'noodles', very comforting : )
Beijing / China is a very smokey place, something you have to learn to live with quickly, you ain't in Kansas any more toto!
Great location for sightseeing. Cheap bar and good bar atmosphere. Secret wall tour was amazing!! Room was ok but could do with some improvements.
Nowhere to put your clothes in the room, there was only bed, one chair and tiny bedside table. Booking stated that wardrobe and kettle are available which was not the case. Had to sit in the bar to get wifi as not available in the room. Avoid opera tour! It's not a proper opera at all. Show was held in some hotel conference room and was terrible. Full of tourist, not a real experience at all.
people place atmosphere price
weak wifi signal in the rooms quite expensive restaurant
Great on site bar and very friendly, helpful staff.
Toilets in the room didn't have the best plumbing but the shower was surprisingly warm and powerful.
Helpful staff, social vibe, party
Bed was hard. Bad smell in bathroom, not much roomservice.
Everything else. The whole hostel is dirty and poorly maintained. The A/C of the room I stayed in was broken. The locker was about 3' tall and 2' wide, when you go backpacking you take a "backpack" with you, this locker size couldn't fit a laptop bag.
It's very close to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen square, the shared showers are large and comfortable. The bar's food is delicious!
There are no lockers in the dorms, there's no place to lock your belongings in. Doing the laundry cost 20 yuan, I think it's quite expensive.
Neighborhood is nice but too commercial, warm water for tea is available, computer facility. Advice: Book in advance!!! We got a much better deal because we booked in May and buy the time we arrived there (end of July) it was already 250 rmb more expensive. Same thing in Shanghai.
Personally I prefer a good hostel that just works good than so much effort in looking cool. The big tv in the restaurant is on all day with loud pop music, very annoying for those who enjoy silence...at nights there seams to be party always and in order to get to what ever room you're in, you have to get through the restaurant. Our room was a privet room and for our surprise it almost didn't have any furniture in it, 2 single beds a very small table, tv (of course) and that's it, no place at all for clothes even though the room had plenty of space for a closet. We stayed there for 6 nights and ended up with everything on the floor. Staff was always very busy and had no time really for helping out with small details or issues. One night the internet in our room crashed so I went to the front desk asking to fix the problem, the desk girl just looked at her phone and turned back on me saying, "I have internet, you are doing something wrong" and did nothing. Next morning internet was back but they obviously didn't do anything about it.
Excellent location, walking distancefrom the forbidden palace.
No towels provided, but you can rent them.
Restaurants, walk ways, People
The location is close to many tourist attractions. The staff was helpful to guide best economical ways to visit places in and outside Beijing. The restaurant food was very good and had a lot of variety.
Peter is the best barman in leo hostel. He always trys to makes us the best cocktails!
The room was ok, there was everything what I need to sleep.
Until 2 o clock you cannot go to sleep because on the hallway everybody is so noisy and the walls are thin so you can hear everything.
I went on a Great Wall tour and it was super cool. There were no tourist except for us! The hostel is located very close from Tiananmen Square! The people you will meet there are going to be awesome, well my roommates were hahahaha The staff was very kind as well.
Sometimes the bathroom was not that clean.
Excellent location! 5 minutes walk from Tiananmen square. Well maintained bathrooms. Great common area, bar and movie room.
The 12 beds dorm I was sleeping in consisted of two connected rooms, and in only on of them there was air-con. I was in the room with no air-con and it was fairly hot.
Good size room, excellent location close to Tianamen Square and the subway station, social bar and restaurant area.
Nothing I didn't like but the booking.com information was incorrect in as much as the private rooms do not have wardrobes or kettles.
Staff is very helpful.
A bit dirty in the bathroom.
