The room was pretty grubby, the bathrooms were not very clean, showers leaked like crazy, and the beds are SUPER hard. Now I am a tough girl, outdoor camping and all of that, but if you are from the West, and think ok, how bad can this be?? Think as hard as the floor...no kidding. We all had back pain and sore hips, the beds are SO hard. This is traditional Chinese thing, the mattresses are some sort of compressed fibre, with no give AT ALL. SO be warned...the beds are HARD. Bring along a sleeping pad, you will be glad you did.
Amazing location right in the middle of the Hutong, lots of great restaurants, and small quaint clubs, lots of street markets, and the real deal. The decoration was charming and authentic. The Starbucks in the lobby was perfect for a latte before hard core Beijng all day, and the price was pretty good value. We had a family room, which is hard to find. The area is super super interesting, and it is only about a 15 minute walk to the amazing Beijing Metro, and close to some of the main sites.
