the location Staff are approachable
smell of dried fish
good price Good location
the location is great. you can walk to the bund , pearl tower and the old street! the room is clean. hostel is decorating so beautiful!! i love it and will be back here if i go to shanghai again!! :3
Location in the city, the wifi was good except a bit slow during peak hours.
The street was very noisy and dirty.
Staff is really nice and always trying their best. We really liked the location as you are close to everything, but in a quiet area with street food and good food stalls around. The rooms are cozy and clean, there is a heating and a good working hot shower. There's a little market hall next door, but you never smell it in the rooms and the staff is doing their best that the floors also smell good. We stayed there twice as we really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it.
Location (near People's square & nanjing road) Excellent Q/P ratio Staff kind and helpfull Near Zhejiang road (many muslim restaurants)
Pay attention to dorms on the right side, there is a bar or KTV besides the hostel, very noisy Dorms very small
It is located in the center, close to few subways stations. Nice bathrooms.
The English of the staff was sometimes not enough, the street where is located is smelly and noisy. Rooms without window. Wifi slow
shared bedroom was great, my bed was comfortable and clean, lockers were big enough to hold my 60liter bag and my smaller 25l bag.
The staff weren't helpful in helping change my booking dates and ultimately just made me pay for a second night despite being upfront 24 hours prior to arriving that I only needed one night. It wasn't a lot of money, but I wish they would have just said I couldn't cancel it instead of leading me around to other places to figure out that I couldn't cancel it 45 minutes later.
Location Price breakfast bed
We first had a room without a window. This was not nice at all ! The smell was moist, and hot ! Like your room is a shared bathroom where 40 people spend the night.. So, it you want to book there, just make sure you have a room with a window, facing the street - then you'll be fine. Also, the shower needed 10 min to provide hot water. (FYI)
The room is comfy and spacious. Near to food galores
Location wise.Had a hard time finding the hotel as the directions given on the booking.com is not clear. Even though it stated near to the attractions still the location is hard to find as Shanghai is huge and absolutely you will need some time to locate the hostel. No elevator
Good location, Good transportation like Shanghai Metro, Nice room....
No lift so we have to carry heavy luggage to climb up the stairs.. T-T
Location is really good!
The bed is hard, they should replace Chinese mattresses with more comfortable, hard to sleep on these...
Staff was friendly
We had luggage and there was no lift. We went 2 floors up! Also the location is disgusting. There is a meat market just nearby on the left. I saw people cutting meat on the trottoir in front of the hostel. Shower facilities is not that good. The room was very tiny! Also what I hate it was this smell when i go in the couloir towards my room. Although they try to hide it with all kinds of fresheners that was the truth. Maybe because there many small rooms on the same floor.Don't expect that much. Really bassic
Location was nice but the actual hostel street was horrible, dirty, dark. Moreover, there were no signs in the street with the hotel name, so it was difficult to find it. If you go with big luggage is not nice because the rooms are only on a third floor (no elevator). It was not a " real hostel" with guest interaction, tours, etc.
The ambiance was very good. Staff at reception spoke English and are friendly and accurate. They make good cappuccinos in the restaurant, they actually have Illy coffee! Wifi works well and so does the A/C in the room. The name of the hostel seems to be Mingtown, when you're there. Never saw the name Peoples Square Youth Hostel anywhere in there.
It's noisy. I heared pipes or God knows what, making noise all the time. If you get a room by the street side, prepare to "enjoy" the veggie market noises starting from 4 am... My mattress was rock hard. I actually like a hard mattress but this was a little too much.
Being in central Puxi
No dishes or dishtowels in the self-catering kitchen. Had to borrow them from the bar with a deposit.
The Staff is very friendly. The location is quite good - near the Peoples square and Nanjing Pedestrian road. Super Store Nearby is as a plus.
There is no window in the hostel. Air Conditioner did not work. The room air need to be refreshed daily. Most disgusting is that there are mice in the kitchen.
It is very close to People's square and other tourist attractions. So we could travel by our own feet.
Toilet's pressure was too weak. But my friend say, it is lucky to just have a room with water toilet in China.
The neighborhood, the public transport system nearby, the cozy rooms
A little too loud
The hostel is in a very good location, near People's Square and the old area with a lot of places to eat nearby. The room was basic and a bit small, but clean and cozy and the bathroom has a real shower! ITALIANO= L'ostello è in una buonissima posizione, vicino a People's Square e alla parte vecchia con un sacco di posti per mangiare nelle vicinanze. La stanza era essenziale ed un pò piccola, ma pulita e con un bagno con vera doccia!
Lack of elevator; a bit noisy due to the food market outside ITALIANO= Mancanza dell'ascensore; un pò rumoroso per il mercato alimentare all'esterno
The place was filthy and stank like a dead cat. Multiple dead cats infact.
Great central location, that can easily reach both the Bund and the French concession by foot.
Staff seemed indifferent to us, both in the lobby and the bar, I suspect and hope this is more to do with being shy around English than genuine rudeness. They couldn't offer much tourist advice either. Unclean and smelly rooms with dirty towels. We found loose hair in the Bathroom and it generally seemed as if all the cleaning staff did was empty the bin prior to our arrival. Paper thin walls. While the general location is great, the hostel is perhaps located at smelliest street in Shanghai. A stench that seems to stick in your nose for quite a while.
Staff was good
Dirty place. Room has no window
location - location - location! nice people, good rooms, great restaurant...
they should clean it more...
The staff was oke and they could speak english Rooms were big enough Meal at the bear is a good deal too /and also really tasty/
The street is a mess, it was dirty, stinky etc My bed was not done /and ive arrived late afternoon/
