Salvo Hotel Shanghai

It is luxury and very beautifully designed. Walking distance for main shopping streets and old city. Personal is very helpful and speak good English. Free internet in the rooms.

The hotel room surpassed our expectations given that it was relatively inexpensive. It could easily have been described as a suite- with bathroom, lounge [with desk and comfortable seats in addition to a spacious bedroom], fridge [minibar not tested] and kettle. Internet connection was provided for laptops [but unfortunately Wi Fi was not provided for our ipod touch to take advantage of this]. Room service meals were cheap but excellent [ although the coffee in the main lounge was very expensive by local standards - almost the same price as the room service meal]. Reception was odd -having been redirected from the ground floor reception desk to the 31st floor but not a real problem. All staff were courteous and helpful.

It's place was very good . It was near the shopping area & near the sightseeing in the same time. Its staff were very helpfull . My room was very clean .

Central location for many sites, althought all at least 15 mins by walk.

A bit too far to the subway station (approx. 10 mins). You do not check- in at the first floor lobby, hotel staff have to make sure you indeed have reservation before sending you to 31st flr. To receive your key to your room. For someone who is already tired from the train ride, this is quite annoyed.

All was excellent.

The Salvo is great for the city centre of Shanghai. Shopping in the Nanjing Road East shops and malls is close by. The local food and restaurants are reasonably well priced. Alcohol is expensive, and eating and drinking at the other western chain hotels in the area can be prohibitively expensive.

The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly.

The location is convenient, the staff is friendly. Although they lack knowlege in English they do their best to help.

This is certainly not a 5* star hotel! The rooms are tiny, dark and dingy; the location is shady and full of 'taxi touts' that the concierge does nothing about; the bathrooms are dusty; the aircon stopped working in the middle of the night; the staff is aloof and barely speaks English; the TV only shows one English channel (CNN). The entire experience was quite a let-down!

The best thing about this hotel is the position. The second best is the friendliness of the staff.

Size of executive rooms is good, lobby nice. Pretty good views from upper floors.

Long queue to check in - slow service - disinterested staff. Hassel from sales people outside the entrance.
