Fire exits locked !!
No WiFi at room only in lobby.
Our reasonably priced room had a stunning view on the Shanghai skyline. We booked a superior room and didn't expect to have our own salon and big bathroom. A pleasant surprise. The Western breakfast was good (enough).
We have been double billed by the hotel. I have emailed hotel 6 times to resolve this issue however they are not replying to me. I have enlisted the help of Amex to fix the problem for me.
location was great close to Bund and Nanjing road
I've not received my deposit yet ( around 1500 RMB ) , don't expect too much from their fitness, staffs are very unfriendly and impolite
Family room with horrible extra bed, the others beds are ok.
Price and location
The breakfast is expensive
Clean enough. Ok location
Wifi in lobby very slow. Bar prices ridiculously expensive for china. £5 for a tea! In china! Concierge gave us the wake up call for a different room at around 7 am after a very long day of travelling.
The Location and the convenience within the city business area.
Peak hours and too many traffic, especially those (electric cycles) motorcycles travelling at high speed very recklessly along those roads within the hotel surroundings, guests be extra careful when crossing roads, esp. in the evening under the dim traffic lightings.
Big rooms will stay again
Some problems with wifi but overall a very nice stay.
Good access to main points of interest with moderate price.
It was close to a lot of halal restaurants. And Nanjing pedestrian mall was also very close.
The staff were cold and gloomy. They don't smile.
Walking distance to main attractions ( Yu Gardens, bund, Nanjing Road, People Square, Huangpu River, shops, restaurants). Large room with lounge. Comfortable bed with nice bedding. Airconditioning. Room cleaned, bed made, fresh towels every day. Staff helpful. WiFi in lobby. Laundry - perfectly done for us. Breakfast - buffet, delicious food. ATM machines in the lobby. Beautiful green tea fragrance when you walk in. Large bathroom with shower and bath.
Unable to organise taxi to pick us up from the airport. Unable to get WiFi in the room ( only ADSL, wired internet available). WiFi available in lobby.
Very close to Bund & Nanjing Road Close to Metro station Nice room furniture
Elevator frequently broken Corridors smelled strongly like mold Carpet very dirty Walls losing paint Room had very low ceilings Impossible to stand up in shower Low value for money
Value for money and it was clean.
Internet access! No wifi in room!
Bathroom was big, clean and quality accessories. Wifi in all rooms, Big lobby.
Room was too small, TV were Oval Shape Old, Lights out anytime and the electrician on from somewhere, just one sofa in Business Suite, Internet speed is not so good. No swimming pool, surrounding not so good.
Situated in a very nice area with a traditional Chinese feel. Very nice rooms, very large lobby with grand piano. Location was also very good.
No wifi other than in the lobby. If wifi was free throughout, this would've been the best hotel i've been to in China.
The location close to The Bund is excellent.
Below standard infrastructure & maintainance ( Air con, water, cleaning, painting). Average food and service. unhelpful staff
Good provision of basic necessities with quality.
Staff we're not helpful nor friendly. No wifi in room is a setback. Wifi in lobby not stable.
Location, cleanliness of room, de or.
The MOST unhelpful, rude staff my husband and I have ever encountered on our numerous world travels. I asked politely why our wifi , which had worked excellently in our room for the two previous days and nights was not working on the third day. She was standing on her side of the desk playing with her phone. I excused myself and politely repeated the question to her. She replied that we had NO wifi, we had a room too poor for internet! Then proceeded to turn her back on me. I asked if I could speak to the manager and she indicated a young gentleman assisting another guest. I waited my turn and told him my problem and said the girl had told me that he was the manager. To this, he laughed and said he wasn't a manager and when I enquiries why the other person had been so rude and unprofessional and referred me to him, he again laughed and said "she thinks you are a stupid lady". He also refused to help me. He asked another couple behind me to step forward and ignored me completely and even waved me away. Disgusting, unprofessional. Rude behaviour should not be accepted. The Salvo Hotel is not a cheap hotel and we have stayed in lovely clean hotels for $15 AUD a night and have fantastic, professional and friendly staff. Why does the Salvo Hotel, Shanghai allow their staff to act like this? Surely they value their reputation. This is the second time my husband and I have stayed there, the first the staff were just totally unhelpful, but this visit they were so bad I will never stay there again and I will NEVER recommend it to anyone.
Good value, lovely room, grand location only 5 mins walk to Shanghai skyline
Like most places in China the staff spoke very little English and make poor efforts to communicate
