Shanghai Dock Bund Hostel  

Shanghai Dock Bund was Ok, 1st impressions on seeing the reception and the road where it was situated was quite scary, we thought our room was going to be awful. On going up in the lift and coming out on the floor and seeing the lovely brown carpets we were worried but as it turned out our room was lovely, we had the triple room and had loads of space, bathroom was beautiful, we really enjoyed our stay there and it was in a great location.

There was no Bar or Restaurant, the Wi-Fi didnt work in the rooms and not even very well in the internet room upstairs. Laundry servise was 'do it yourself' and took forever.

Well located for the Bund and other main sights, though located on a backstreet so the close surroundings nothing special. Family room was large and clean.

The communal areas let the hostel down, and I was worried what I would find, but the room was nice enough.

It is easy to find and not far away from subway station. I will be there again next time.

Very good location, right behind the Bund area. Clean and well maintained rooms. Free wired wifi and laundry facilities are available. Toiletries are provided (not so common for hostels in China). Helpful staff. A special thank you to Mingjian, a very kind, professional and patient receptionist

I suggest that hte cleaning ladies make up the room and replace toiletries on a daily basis and not only on request

Good location, good price, nice room(private room like a hotel, not hostel).

We booked twin room, but they didn't have free rooms this type when we came. So reseptionist advise us double-bed room or family room instead. As we travelling with husbund, we wanted 1 bed for us, so we choose family room. Reseptionist said that it's "little bit noisy" and we asked what kind of noise, but he spoke Englis "a little bit" bad, and said that noise isn't very strong. But we couldn't change the room in case we don't like it. I thoght it would be noise from the street(i can sleep with it), but it was a noise from very big "thing"(transformator?) that where fixed on the front of our window. We didn't have any light from the window, but we had permanent noise. Loud noise. So, don't choose room №6306. WiFi doesn't work on this(3d) floor, so we use Enternet on the PC and WiFi in the lobby on the 4th floor.

Central location, very good size and clean rooms. Almost a hotel quality. Value for money definitely.

Reception area is small. Staff speaks limited English but more helpful than Tourism Information Center.

The staff is friendly and nice,the location is great,the family room is verry comfortable and clean,Internet and computers are available on the 4th floor,baggage store is available at any time!

Brilliant location right by the Bund, excellent places to eat nearby. Short easy walk to Metro 10 mins max but lots of cheap taxis at the end of the road. The friendly staff spoke English and gave 5 star service! Nothing was too much trouble. We had a triple room on 4th floor with free wifi in the room and free internet in a computer room on the same floor!! The beds were comfortable and clean, shower powerful and hot. For less than £7 per night per person, in our triple room I have no complaints at all and would highly recommend to anyone on a budget !!

Great location, amazing value for money, clean rooms with basic amenities and free Wifi! More importantly than all of the above the staff were friendly, welcoming, attentive, English speaking and went above and beyond to make our stay a very pleasant one. I would not hesitate to return here. 5 star service, thank you very much!!

The room was clean and big. We came one day before and they prepared a room for us in 10 minutes. The personnel was nice and friendly.

There was no wifi on the 3rd floor, you had to go to the corridor. Not very easy to find.

Value for money with perfect location near shanghai bund and east nanjing road, many restaurant in walking distance and 24 hours supermarket. Staf is friendly with good english speaking.

The front desk staff! Amazing, friendly and personable English speaking service, which, although one should not expect in order to enjoy China in general and Shanghai in particular, it contributes so much to the enjoyment and memories of the trip

Reception area looked a little dodgy and hallways too but rooms were if fine but could be cleaner. All amenties like slippers, toothbrush and kettle were there!

This place is like a student dorm, which is okay if you like student dorms.

My friends and I liked our room for three people. We had a nice big beds with lots of space around. Free internet and wifi all around the place, easy access to city with main sights in walking distance. Friendly staff.Well done!

When we arrived we wasn't sure about quality-street entrance is a bit creepy with smell of dampness but accommodation was perfect (clean, dry, comfortable with reasonable price).

We stayed there for the second time on our trip because it is in great location and it has very good price and friendly english speaking staff

No place to store cosmetic bags in bathroom

The hostel is located in the very center of Shanghai. It is very clean and nice. It is also very affordable. Receptionists speak English and are happy to give you advice and answer your questions related to Shanghai. What else can one need? I was in many hotels and hostels in Shanghai before but none of them was so nice. I am planning many more short trips to Shanghai and I will always chose Shanghai Rock Bund Hostel.

Amazing location in a very nice area, safe, close to the Bund, shopping street, underground station, if you like walking it is also a nice walk to old town. Many good small restaurants and food stalls around with good prices. Friendly, english speaking staff. Small but clean rooms equipped in everything a budget traveler may need. Don't let the size and overall look of the entrance fool you, especially if you are a first time traveler to China like us. At first we were sceptic if we should stay but we are glad we did!

Bathrooms could use some small shelfs of even a small chair because there's no space to put your cosmetic bag on the sink.

i like the fact that it was a walking distance from the metro station.

The hostel is located in the center of old Shanghai, there are many historical buildings in this area and it is close to the Bund. Good location for shopping, sightseeing and partying.

The hostel is renovated from an outdated budget hotel, so residents won't have a nice public place to meet with other travelers. The refurbishment is not completed. Wall painting only gave a bit of air brush of this old building, the door lock of my bathroom is broken. Though it claims all rooms are non-smoking, some how I did smell cigarette.
