the room was on the ground floor and we had a constant rumour from something we identified as kitchen extractor but it did not disturb our sleep.

Excellent location and awesome roof top restaurant. Spacious Suites, unique style and perfect leisure time.

Too much light in the suite, dark curtains recommended.

The location was the best I could have hoped for, in a neighborhood , near the Forbidden City.

Some language issues with the staff caused me to miss an event I had paid for but things like this are part of the experience. Also, as a solo, I could not seem to get a reservation in the rooftop restsurant.

Prettty much we liked everything about the hotel. Very clean rooms, comfortable beds, excellent location for walking around in the center of Beijing, from the glamorous Wangfujing street, to the Forbidden city, Jingsaw park and the Hutongs! More than decent breakfast offered in the price and the staff were all very helpfull and friendly. Spectacular view from the roof garden/bar of the hotel. That is if the weather allows it. Word of advise, ask the reception to write down on small pieces of papers all the places you want to visit in the area, in chinese! Also have the address of the hotel written in chinese, asalmost none of the taxi drivers speak english! The nearest subway station is around 20-30 minutes walk and don't worry it's very easy and safe to use. And most important, directions in english everywhere! Also prefer to change most of your money in chinese currency, at local banks that can be found all around, rather than at the hotel. Better rates! Gym at the hotel, not really a gym but who cares, you are on holiday! Have fun and enjoy! Thank you Emperor Beijing Hotel

Their were local shops, rest within walk distance.

When they booked my tour of wall section, they did not inform you that the faster ride and the faster slide down costs extra. Also that tour does not offer at any time to eat.

The design of the interior was a breath of fresh air to those that experienced typical 5-star accomodation. The hotel view from outside was unassuming.

We did not want to stay in a brand new hotel -- we wanted a nice hotel but one with more character and close to a neighborhood. The Emperor fit perfectly. Tiananmen Square is a 10 minute taxi ride or a 20 minute walk - either choice is a good one. The staff was very helpful. Eric was particularly helpful in arranging a car and driver for us. The room had the two beds we requested and this room -- a corner room -- had lots of extra space so we could spread out a bit for our three day stay. Breakfast was nice. Would definitely stay again.

We weren't expecting a brand new hotel, so we were not disappointed by anything.

Location and wonderful food at the restaurant on the rooftop with the Forbidden city view!

The shower and the toilet are at too close and everytime you take shower The toilet gets wet. The air conditioner turns off automaticaly after a few hours on during the night and it's not well dimensioned for the room

'Funky' designed rooms close to Forbidden city. Nice roof terrace although because of the hot weather we did not make use of it very often. Free water and daily newspaper.

Staff in general friendly though one of them reacted very annoyed when we asked to call for a taxi and help us to tell the taxi driver where to go. Nearest metro station is an 18 minutes walk.

Big room, benefits included. Good bike to be rented for free. Very good breakfast. Nice view from the terrace.Very near to the Forbidden City.

Not even a 3 stars hotel. Old building, not very well manteined. But very nice compared to the neighbourhood standars.

Location is walking distance from many places. Comfortable place to stay in.

Staff don't speak English which makes it difficult to communicate with them and ask for things you need. Staff forget things that you ask them for. Not very well organized.

Very good hotel, with spacious rooms and modern design. The room is clean, with very big bath in the middle. The shower is cool and there is a box with combs, tooth brushes, shower gels, combs, sew kits, in case you forgot something. I liked the small details, like for ex., a stamp of emperor (with the name of the room) which they give you as a souvenir, or the free cookies they leave in the room every day. Also there is a free mini-bar with maybe 10 drinks including water, so in case you want to substitute the cokes for waters they'll take care of that. The terrace is amazing with a beautiful view of the Forbidden city especially as the night comes and the lights are put. There is a tasty fancy dinner served upon request. On the same terrace there is a nice jacuzzi, which is charged 200 Y - according to me it had been better if included in the price or at least with some discount for the guests of the hotel. The breakfast is on the upper floor, so again, nice view and tasty food: you have the typical Chinese specialities and European/American type of breakfast. The stuff is quite helpful. The tour to the Chinese wall the hotel organizes, is the same as everywhere (including obligatory visit to 3 or 4 silk, tea and jade factories). In case you want to avoid it and be more flexible, just hire a private tour with english speaking driver. I recommend this hotel in case you want to be located in the center, start the daily tour with Forbidden city and Tiananmen Square, enjoy nice afternoon/night chill out time on the terrace. As it is located in center, you can use taxi to move to all other places of interest for reasonable prices.

There was one flaw regarding the room we stayed - it smelled strange on the first place, like old cigarette we thought this room was before a smoking room. However with the air conditioning woking the entire time the smell was mitigated, although not completely eliminated.
