The noisy chairs
The maid didn't clean
-First room I was in smelled strongly of cigarettes, but the front desk moved me as soon as I asked
-No wifi in rooms, only lobby
Communal Areas Very Social Near subway
Wifi poor in rooms
I booked an extra double room for my friend to stay in, but then there was a problem and they couldn't use the room, I told reception just 90 minutes later that we couldn't use it and asked for the money back I paid for it, but he refused and said no. The hostel wasn't full and it was late at night, so my booking didn't stop anyone else from staying there, I just think it's wrong way to treat people in what is supposed to be a friendly hostel community. Also, the location isn't great, it's close to the metro, but still far away from all the attractions, which are mostly near the Bund. You are really far away from all the nightlife here, which is the best thing about Shanghai. Also there was only one shared shower working on the whole floor which wasn't great. They find other ways to make more money from you too, you have to buy a lock for your locker, and also they don't provide towels in the shared rooms. When I booking the description of my room said it had much more amenities than it did. Overall, I've been travelling for four months now, and this is the worst and most unfriendly hostel I've stayed in.
Good location, close to train station, our room was big. Good wifi
Staff were a litte rude to people if you had questions about anything
The staff were helpful, friendly guests always willing to help out or hang out
Restaurant/bar inside, but things are a bit more expensive. Nice clean rooms, the make it up every day Friendly staff
Wifi only available in reception area
A group of us were watching the football and the girl in the bar just turned it off and told us to get out which was rude.
I stayed in a 4 bed dorm and the beds on the bottom bunk were softer than the hard top bunks. So it depends on what you prefer. The bar and restaurant is nice and big. Hot showers!!!! Rooms were cleaned adequately everyday. Pretty close to metro line, restaurants, and some shopping.
Wifi didn't work in room, and was quite slow during peak hours in common area and not the best at all times. Shower area is in need of some repair and attention and better cleaning. The same wet toilet paper was in the same shower for four days. Restaurant was not the cheapest. Food was okay at best.
Location, staff, room.... bar
in the bathroom there was no Mat. the floor was slippery
The staff speaks English and is really helpful. The main hall and the "bar" is always busy yet it's never noisy. Our room was quite clean and the beds were comfortable.
The location is a little far away from the main attractions but it's not that bad, as the hotel is really close to the subway.
best matrasses in china so far (one month),close to metro, english speaking staff
trainees didnt speak english
clean; adequate space (twin); elevator
1. a few minutes walk from the metro; quite far from tourism attractions 2. slow wi-fi/internet 3. no free breakfast/free dumpling-making lesson as advertised in the website 4. difficult communicating with staff (in English) 5. additional .03% if paying via credit card
Easy 5min walk from the Station
Location was a bit far from the man part of town
I love this hostel; I always come here, but...
the wifi is terrible. Instead of checking email in 5 minutes and be done with it or spend one hour planning your trip, you may spend the whole day trying to load anything and get nothing done. They really need to fix it.
Although subway station is a short walk away, it gets quite tiresome to change lines every time if you want to go anywhere more central. Otherwise, rooms were clean and the receptionist was very informative on which line to take to reach a certain destination.
The lobby smells funky.. it could possibly be from the cat that inhabits the hostel.
This hostel is awesome because there is a really cool bar/restaurant with big comfy chairs and couches perfect for lounging and you can get beer that actually has good alcohol content. It's a phenomenal place to meet new people, whether your alone or with your friends.
Good bar to hang out, near the subway.
Not the best location; rooms just fine.
dryer has no heat no cable tv staff useless food over priced people rude
I was given a clean pleasant room with a decent view.
it was cheap...maybe that's all what i can say good about this hostel. sorry
dirty! really dirty! we stay about 9 days and nobody clean our room, shower was a little bit broken, so toilet always was in water, staff nice, but incompetent. awful public zone...:( and bonus - cockroach!!!
Good location, 5 mins walk to underground, nice staff, clean facilities. The bed is sooooo large and comfortable! There is also a bar downstairs where you can meet many international friends. This is the best youth hotel I have stayed in and I will definetely choose it again! Hope you all enjoy your staying here!
All in all, everything was OK. Close to a subway station. Cheap self-laundry (but other places provide it for free).
Staff does the mandatory things but don't really care about the guests. The area is not the best, no good reastaurants nearby. (Shanghai is not the best place, 2 days are more than enough. Spend more time in Beijing instead!)
Room with ensuite English speaking staff Loads of space to relax and chill out
Lost money in two broken washing machines and dryer that just spins. Dont risk doing laundry here Really sticky bedroom floor, just needed a mop Relatively expensive breakfasts were very small
Staff is awful
