Location was all right, it is 15 min. Walk to railway station.
Everything... 1) When we checked in, one of the staff (an older one) told me that the room can not accommodate more than 1 child. I have two little kids. I showed her the paper print-out from booking.com, it clearly stated that all children under 10 are free of charge when using existing bed. She tried to argue with me and said that was a mistake. I told her if she has any problems with that policy printed black and white as terms of the contract , then she should take it up to booking.com and deal with them. She probably realized it is her mistake indeed and finally said, "OK, just let them stay." I found her behavior very rude, disrespectful and unprofessional! I did not like her attitude at all and even wanted to switch to another hotel. 2) No daily clean-up. They do not clean up your room, only take away garbage, until you make your personal request at the front desk. That is oh so "convenient" for guests, after spending a tiring day outside, to find time and go through hassles just to tell/remind them to clean up their rooms? Wow, I never knew that is actually happening at a private room in a hostel. I rather spend the same money and get a decent hotel which will send staff to clean up my room as I wish. The money I paid to this hostel can get me a three star hotel in Xian, I don't know what got into my mind of thinking it is fun to stay at a youth hostel. 3) They won't give you sufficient toilet papers. The toilet paper is so small that you can use it up in one time. Again you have to show up at the front desk, and ask them for more. another hassle. And strong point to prove how cheap they are! 4) When I asked for extra pillow, they gave me blankets; when I asked for extra towel, they gave me none. Their customer service is almost non existent. 5) Laundry is super expensive, considering whatever cheap machine they put there do not run efficiently. I have to run the drier twice to get my clothes dry.
Helpfull staff, close to rail station and well comunicated with the main sights. Really nice courtyard
Wifi was not working all the time.
good location close to the railway station and Bell Tower, good restaurants, comfortable accommodation, luggage Storage
The location is near by real way station, about 15 minutes walking distance.
The door lock was not function on the first day. At the midnight, we have no way to get into the room. We paid but did not have chance to inter the room in the middle of the night! The staffs are not very friendly, they didn't greet us and say any thank you. When I inquired some information about the transportation, they said it very fast .As a Chinese native speaker, I could not catch what did they say, when I asked for repeating the answer, they showed very inpatient attitude.
I just love the building, the courtyards, how qiet it is. This is the second time I stayed there. The single rooms are really good value.
I love the communal courtyard, but I find it annoying that they switch on the TV/screen at night, at full volume. Most people are engaged in quiet conversations or busy on-line or reading, no one is watching. I would have liked to stay, but the noise drove me away.
The rooms were spacious and spread out so it was a very relaxing, peaceful atmosphere
Location. It's quite far from the centre (walking wise - and don't even both with the rickshaw drivers!). It's only good for the wall cycling location wise
location and decoration
worst and unfriendliest staff ever.Have been travelling now for 3 month and never had to wright a bad review about staff, but this... Nothing helpful (not even wrighting down the chinese name to buya train ticket!!) and instead of "hello" I was received by an unfriendly "passport"...
Hostel has a nice atmosphere. Big family rooms.
Staff at the reception wasn't friendly. If you have a question they're not very helpfull.
The surounding area, very old quarters & heritage buildings..
Very close to the train station. Beautiful looking hostel. Nice bar and pool table. Rooms very clean
Generally fantastic and perfect for our two families!
Slow delivery of food in the restaurant, uncomplicated things too, like toast.
So far so good.
Location is good (but still a 15 min walk from trainstation if you carry luggage). Hostel has traditional atmosphere, nice rooms, located in barracks (but well renovated), good food
Staff wasn't friendly. Their English was OK but they didn't pay attention in the bar/restaurant and they gave the bill immediatly when you order something, even when you order food and are planning to have more drinks, dessert,... Felt as a lach of trust. Don't order a milkshake, it's just milk mixed with banana-powder, it's not even cold
Good location, good food, nice room, helpful staff. This is the place to stay!
English speaking staff, Western menu with great pizza. Modern decor.
Struggled a bit to get the place, more signposts will be helpful.
Hostel has an amazing outdoor setting and feels like an oasis in the middle of Xi'an (which is pretty hectic!). Staff are very helpful and friendly and willing to help organise tours. Location is decent but still a bit of a walk to the metro and city centre, however this is worth it for the nice location of the hostel. Wifi is okay, some of the better wifi we had in China as it is generally pretty poor everywhere. I would recommend staying here as the good points certainly outweigh the bad points (which there are not many!).
The restaurant/bar is a bit overpriced for a hostel. Although eating there you are paying for the convince factor. Room was quite damp, however this might be common in Xi'an.
Pleasant staff. Good facilities and location. Food was great as well.
the hostel was very nice
The staff was a disaster
dorm bed in a 6-bed-room for only RMB50, acceptable cleanliness, good value for price
this hostel is too big for me (didn't know it was run as a YHA). staff weren't particularly helpful (or not helpful, for that matter); they simply just don't care too much about the people staying here. if you are looking for a cozy hostel, this is not for you. location: not close to metro or bus stop, the street is quite dark if walk back alone at night
Really nice hostel, with great and calm mood, and helpful staff. Private double room is confortable (matress is great!) and bathroom is very spacious. There was an electricity cut during one of the days of our stay and though the manager wasn't very resolutive (after insisting, i got a half price on that night), but the girls on the desk were very concerned and extremely helpful, one of them even took me to a local restaurant in the area to charge my batteries. Besides this incident, i really think this is a nice hostel and I would stay here again.
Hot water is always available. Hot shower worked so well.
The separation of Asian and western dorm. I was placed with all Chinese guesses (Many Indonesians got oriental looks) while I only speak English. It's better to know what language your guess speaks.
Fruit porridge for 12 yuan - a delicious massive portion! Good location, just 10 mins walk from north train station. As this is where buses leave from for terracotta warriors and hua shan mountain, this was perfect. About 15 mins walk to muslim market Street, the street stalls were great for dinner!
Showers were a little basic, in a separate building and very damp and full of mosquitos or little flies. Staff dont book train tickets, but I found this very easy to do at the train station.
it was brilliant, close to the train station, easy to find, walking to everywhere, staff were great (they didn't winge when we brought our own beer in!) and it was really comfy. Beautifully set up, great atmosphere and good food at the restaurant.
nothing - even the tours were great!
