The hotel is full of old world charm and detail and was a fantastic experience; at the same time it was extremely clean and well-maintained. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming and assisted us with several issues we had navigating transportation as well as payment given we are foreigners and could not use american credit cards. We are from warm-weather climates and were a little nervous if the old structure could warm up enough at night (about 20s Fahrenheit which was cold to us!) but they have heaters and AC going and thick warm blankets. Very cozy! Delicious local wanton restaurant just a few steps away on the main street, where we had a fantastic breakfast.

It was so relaxing especially during the weekdays with very few visitors. It was 2009 and very few people especially Americans knew about this quaint, ancient river town with is river and famous musician who entertained us everyday right from his place and made our stay even more enjoyable. The evenings were serene with the lights reflecting upon the river from the buildings. We stayed in this town longer than we had planned in the beginning. It was a favorite among the places we visited during our 37-day self-guided tour in China. I brought a best friend who equally enjoyed her stay.. We ate not only the camp food we brought along since we were on a train in between stops, but also ate at restaurants close by and prepared food offered along the river. it was easy walking around the city and along the river.. We didn’t take the Amal’s boat rides that were offers, although they would have been very relaxing as well.

We stopped for a night before going to the mountains. We had time for a good walk round and see the old town when we arrived and had a very nice meal at the entrance to Old Street.
Taxi from the city to the mountain transfer station was 180Y.

My partner and I stayed in the Huangshan area for 5 days. In that time we hiked the mountains, visited one of the ancient towns, went to the hot springs, and spent an afternoon on ancient road (Tunxi). All of the experiences were different and very enjoyable. We had one day with nothing to do (could have gone to see a waterfall but weren't in the mood) but ended up finding a grassy area to throw a frisbee and have an impromptu picnic. I doubt I'll ever go back to Huangshan but really enjoyed my time there.

Tunxi Old Town is interesting with a number of restaurant options. Our trip to Yellow Mountain was fantastic. We were a little disappointed with Xidi and Hongcun Villages as they have become very commercialised.
A lovely hostel with an excellent common room and a great rooftop for (cheap) sunset beers and cocktails.
The owner was very friendly and accommodating and did everything he could to assist us. He always put a smile on our faces!
We stayed here for one night after exploring Huangshan and Hongcun and absolutely loved this hostel. It was an excellent place to relax after the excitement and intense exploring from the previous days. We will definitely stay again if we are ever back in Huangshan!
I was delighted with my stay. The experience of a hotel is obviously different than staying at this traditional house (e.g. colder, less comfy bed etc.) but this only added to the authentic charm. The position is fantastic, as I had my balcony on the high street. Clean environment. Loved the bed warmer. Communication with the host was superb in helping out with getting around the city. Would recommend to everyone. Great breakfast too.
Thanks to Mr. Cao and his lovely wife for an amazing stay in Huangshan. They took good care of us and were super helpful with organising our trip to Yellow Mountain. We had an exceptional homemade breakfast every morning, it felt like you were at home.
The hotel has a great location right next to the old town.
the owners are really friendly and helped us with everything we needed. They had lots of great advice and gave us a lovely room. The breakfast is also delicious. The location is great, near to lots of bars and restaurants but also quiet. The whole hotel is beautiful and feels really special.
The location is near to the river that has a pedestrian walk with trees and plants along the way. Air is fresh and breezy. The hotel has a grand appearance at the lobby and my room is modern, clean, spacious and has a balcony overlooking the river.
Traditional old Chinese courtyard guesthouse right in the middle of the old town. Bookit if you want to immerse yourself in the old town. The building is 200 year old so don't expect the hotel chain room experience.
the common areas were nice and there was kitchen we could use. The owners were super nice and helpful and they helped us get some rides around the city using their rideshare app.
The location is good and I think the breakfast spread is nice. Overall, the hotel is large and the rooms are also good and comfortable as they are big and toilet is big too.
The receptionist was very helpful and helped me take my broken shoes to the repair shop. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the staff was very friendly.
