Score from 120 reviews Good
Pretty neat and well-kept place Amazing staff, very helpful and friendly Cant beat the price-value Close to historical places like the Museo de Oro Great party scene at night
The location is a bit dangerous at night
Cómodo, limpio, personal amable y buen precio.
Excellent placement in city historical center - Candelaria. Very clean and nicely arranged.
Very small room with no hooks so you have to place your things on room floor. Very poor brackfast!!!
Walkable to sights.
Construction, hazardous sidewalks, poverty of people with many street and homeless beings.
It is a good location in terms of being close to main attractions like: Museo del Oro, Plaza Bolivar, a short taxi ride to teleferico that takes you to Monseratte hill for the most amazing views of the city, one bus stop away from Museo Nacional etc The staff was super helpful. They work hard to make their guests happy. After 3 days spent there we felt we can call it "home". The hotel itself is very pretty, nice colonial enclosed building that looks exactly like in the pictures. Clean rooms and common areas as well.
The block around it. It is located only one block away from Carrera 7 which is a popular pedestrian street. That one block is not that great. Smells BAD and there's a lot of homeless people naping at all times on the street. So walk with awareness!
Clean, helpful staff, nice facility, felt safe once inside, relatively close to restaurants/museums/public transportation
1. The area felt unsafe (it's on the outskirts of La Candelaria and I had stayed at another place more in the center that didn't feel unsafe) 2. Breakfast was just bread and coffee (didn't have time to go elsewhere before my flight and I wished I had asked what was served; all hotels I stayed at during my visit that "include breakfast" cooked and served an actual meal/juice/coffee or tea, etc. 3. It was freezing in the room at night (they brought me an extra blanket but it was still really cold so bundle up)
The staff are gentile all time, and they have a good disposition to answer tour questions
The zone at night can be dangerus
Felt like real Bogota and not a tourist trap. Hotel staff were friendly, spoke some English, and helpful. Room was clean and well maintained.
The room was on the street and it was noisy. The Internet was very fast most of the time but we had a storm which knocked out power and the internet was spotty for a day afterwards. Part of living anywhere, I think.
Breakfast, street noise.
Friendly staff Good atmosphere Not so far from Airport
Location was good. Near the main pedestrian street and walking distance to all the main tourist sites. Friendly staff although way too busy checking people in at times.
Zero insulation against noise. There is no AC in the hotel due to the cooler climate of Bogota so to be comfortable you have to open up the windows. If you have an out facing room you get the traffic noise. If you get an inner courtyard room you get all the noise from people walking in at night and doing other 'stuff' in their rooms.
Excellent attention of the receptionist Carolina.
The hotel is located in one of the most dangerous blocks of the city, no walking recommended after 6pm. Rooms are incredibly tiny, to the point we could not really walk in the room with our carry-ons on the floor. No closets, no heating, no door knob for the bathroom door, no glasses, no toiletry, no full body mirror (room 310). The very minimum for breakfast (croissant and butter), dirty breakfast tables.
Staff was very attentive, corteous, not very know aware of turism points of interest thoe...
Breakfast almost non existing...very poor and limited...neighborhood filthy and not very welcoming...info on booking.com not accurate at all...I Would not recomend to any one who is not carryng a gun for self defense...very bad experience.
freindly and good location for a tourist cheerly coloured decor
they are careless with the paper work personal information is left on the front desk unattended
staff, check in, poor breakfast, rooms and towels never ready
the location is walking distance from la candelaria historic town and lots of museaums ,historic buildings and some good restaurant like the cuban jazz cafe night club and restaurant lots of cafe with fair prices, lots of cultural things to do such as the esmeralda museaum and a short taxi ride to monserate.
the staff its not prepare for the difrent nationalitys that arrive every day, inglish is poor and the management is worse than staff if you use the computer room during the day you can here the maneger scream all the time even when she speaks to staff there is no food in the hotel restaurant at night and no where to go unless you get a taxi, no delivery either for the zone becomes dangerus after 7pm the night staff wont help you at all so unlles you got something in your room forget eating a meal or snak i been to colombia many times and speak 4 laguages and founded this particular hotel umprepare.
position, new hotel
owner, reception, check in, noisy and tiny rooms,
Price/quality was fine. The hotel looks very nice abd is located near La Candaleria, which may also be a a reason for some people not to book this hotel as this neighbourhood is old, poor and some people may feel a bit unsafe.
The employees at night called an unsecured tax!!! once, resulting in the taxi driver driving out of the city into the mountains. Once we noticed and commented on his behaviour he eventually turned but charged us double! The bathroom was not cleaned well during our 4 day stay.
Breakfast not good
clean nice staff
noisy in morning
A good place to stay for visiting candelara. Stay there, if you need just a bed and wifi while traveling.
I felt safe but the neighborhood is a bit dodgy at night, watch out at night or take a cab.
Located in the center of the city. Easy to catch a cab or bus to Convention Center or museums.
Do not get even number rooms as they face the center and can be quite noisy in the night time.
- Location in Candelaria - photo's do not match the rooms as they are.
- Candelaria isn't so nice as the books an people say. One day is more than enough. (zona rossa, macarena and the business district is) - no decent restaurants around - communication is difficult if you do not speak spanish.
Me and my partner arrived in Bogota late in the evening and wanted somewhere safe to stay for our first night in Colombia. We got a taxi to the Amber hotel only to be told that there were no rooms available. We were told we had not made a reservation. I showed the male working behind reception our booking confirmation along with reservation number but were again told that there where no rooms available. Apparently they took in a group booking that day and had sacrificed our room. We were left stranded late at night in Bogota. The hotel did find us somewhere else nearby but this hotel was dirty and much to be desired! In short, from our experience this hotel does not respect reservations even when booked through booking.com.
