Very nice and helpful staff Excellent breakfast Comfy family-hotel feeling Smack-bang in the middle of the old town
Wifi worked, but was iffy. Looked like was not hotel's problem though (signal was good). There was a big storm the night when I arrived and water was flooding on the streets so maybe cables were wet. AC worked but for totally smooth silent operation you need to pay more for the room.
The hotel was as you see it is pictured on the net. The staff were excellent and spoke very good english and the breakfast was fantastic. The rooms, the pool and throughout the facility is all beautifully presented and maintained. The location is central to everything and there was no noise at nighttime.
Everything about the hotel is on a small scale. It's a shame because it didn't leave much space for privacy outside your room or in. The windows in my room didn't open however, the air conditioning was great. When I opened the shudders on my windows everyone on the top level could see directly into my room. Also there was no tables/chairs or areas to lounge around in on the top level. The price as with all accommdation in Cartegana is not conducive with the level of accommodation provided and is too over priced.
Location, staff, small but satisfying pool, good value.
One comment I would provide is that the first level rooms are really close to the reception area, which means that we were hearing the phone ring every morning from 6:00... Maybe turning the volume down a bit would help?
The central location near La Puerta del Reloj; the charming old building.
The not so charming old facilities; the unbelievably small bathroom.
Lovely old building Modern bathroom Good bed Nice balcony
A lot of noises (horse carriages, hooting cars, drunken tourists) from one of the main streets of historic Cartagena Breakfast (nice scrumbled eggs but poor bread) Very small room (although superior room), no wardrobe
The staff were very hospitable.
Breakfast had very few options
Perfect spot to hit the city and surroundings Staff very friendly and helpful
Location is very good for accessing anything in Cartagena. Beautiful old building, fantastically restored and furnished. It was perfect for a romantic getaway. Room was comfortable and clean, bed and bedding immaculate. Staff very helpful with suggesting tours and beaches to visit (we didn't book through them but went to the port ourselves). Rooftop pool is very nice, small but great for a dip after a hot day sightseeing and before getting ready for the evening. Staff very willing to help, allowed us to use the room until 4pm on the day we checked out so we could shower and change after going to the beach.
There is a Salsa Club across the street, our room was somewhat sheltered from the sound, however it could be very loud in other rooms. For travelers with mobility issues the number of stairs could be a problem (not an issue for us at all). Room was small and a bit expensive for what you get - but normal for all hotels in the Walled City (historical center) of Cartagena. Bathroom was very small, we are not a large couple so it was ok but rather cramped, again something you will likely find in most hotels in the area.
Classic building and decoration | Very attentive and friendly staff | "Transfer-In" service from airport - car waiting and only $12 each | Rooftop pool | Breakfast | Central location
Bed and pillows were a little hard, left with a stiff back and neck
My husband and I and our daughters with their husbands were in Cartagena for a week. We had a wonderful stay at Carretas! Karen, Eduardo, and Jorge were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were great-fruit, eggs any way you want, and always some Colombian treat. The rooms, lobby, and pool area are spotless. The rooms are on the small size, but comfortable. The location is excellent, you can walk everywhere in the old walled city. We would definitely come back and recommend Carretas to our friends.
Wonderful location, friendly and helpful staff, very clean!
Different from the internet photos, disappointed, 3 star hotel, expensive for the quality.
hotel staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
The bathroom is TINY. We had to walk sideways to get in and out. The wi-Fi was not good. The "suites" are much smaller than they look in pictures. staff kept recommending the same bad restaurant (Candee) over and over again. It was overpriced and had a terrible floor show.
Everything was perfect! The hotel is very charming and it's very well located. Staff members were always so helpful!!! A++ to all of them. This will definitely be my place to stay next time I travel to Cartagena! Gracias!
The hotel was excellent, it was everything i had hoped for and more. The room i was in was a good size and it met my reguirements, i would deffinately recommend this hotel to any one wishing to stay within the walled city. Many thanks to all staff for making my stay enjoyable.
Gorgeous small hotel! Great staff, bilingual Spanish/English.
La ubicuidad de la localizacion en relacion con la Ciudad amurayada ,
The excellence of the attention, ya que es muy a lo @Ingles, pocas palabras, para entederse ,Hasta con Signos
The location is really great, breakfast was excellent (the best coffee), the staff were really friendly and super helpful and the room was huge and very comfortable. We loved our stay here!
I think wifi in the rooms would be better, not just in the lobby and pool. Other that, everything was superb.
The staff. They were all extremely helpful.
The fact that taxes were not included in the advertised price. I had to pay around USD60 extra dollars for those unexpected charges.
It's not boutique.
The hotel is small and it offers a very intimate feeling. It's in a great location, the room was clean, and the staff were nice and helpful. Food was also very good.
The hotel is close to some clubs because when we went to sleep in our room on the second floor, we could hear music very loud. Fortunately we travelled the whole day before getting there and felt asleep immediately.
This place is a true gem... perfect in every way... location, staff, beds, breakfast... just loved our stay
Staff very kimd and always willing to help.
Rooms are a bit small.
The rooms were comfortable, the breakfasts delicious and the staff amazing. Will definitely come back!
