Comfy bed and bathroom well-appointed
Lack of windows and no breakfast option, I don't like airconditioning but there was no choice.
The staff were friendly and helpful despite the language barrier. The location is excellent - Right in the middle of evereverything.
The room was a little dark
I loved the staff, they were friendly and very accommodating. I loved the room in was extremely clean (I have a little OCD), very cozy, and I felt absolutely safe there.
The power outlet in my bathroom didn't work. I was a little disappointed because I wanted to curl my hair but after being there a few days I realized I didn't care about styling my hair at all!
Central location, friendly staff. Basic facilities, ample and clean with WiFi as a bonus.
It is a small, yet comfortable and quaint place. They are friendly, welcoming and accommodating. It was surprisingly quiet, being on a busy street. It is very clean and I felt safe. It is half a block from a large grocery store, you can get anything you need.
The hot water for the shower was inconsistent. It was either burning hot or cold. There was not an outlet in my bathroom. I used the one in the bedroom.
Perfect for the budget traveler. Clean and comfortable. Friendly, helpful staff. Great location. A all around excellent value and experience.
The free wifi was of reasonable speed, the small fridge was working and the staff members were friendly (even if they didn't speak English)
The hotel is way overpriced (just like the whole of Cartagena) and on a very busy street. The room had a narrow window under the ceiling covered in heavy curtain, so no light could come in and we couldn't see outside. The wall paint was peeling off, the bathroom was not in the condition the pictures suggested. There was no safe in the room. We cancelled our stay at this hotel after the first night and stayed at Hamptons by Hilton for the same price instead.
Located within walled city, its with walking proximity to numerous restaurants, bars, historic sights nightlife. Supermarket is on adjacent corner (convenient for replenishing necessities).A better than fair value considering the busy time of year there (1st wk of Jan). Clean and safe room with tv,small fridge, nice queen sz. bed, small desk/chair,small closet,AC, and adequate bathroom (great water pressure and temps). Accommodations sufficient for two. Nothing too fancy or frilly, but perfectly suitable for those looking to spend most of their time exploring the worthwhile city. Staff friendly enough (spanish speaking-only) as they provided recommendations and supplied a map for the city that may first appear like a maze of beautiful small roads, quintessential spanish colonial buildings that house other visitors, stores, and restaurants/bars. Id recommend to most unless theyre looking for something with more amenities where cost is less of a factor.
No breakfast served (although I knew this prior to booking, but many others offer it). My last night, a Tuesday, had loud countinuous music playing somewhere nearby thoughout the night until dawn-completely disruptive, but again, not a direct fault of the hotel
We enjoyed our stay- the location was great and quiet. There was wifi and AC. The room was clean.
Not much that we didn't like about our stay. I know it was for security reasons but we weren't thrille about having to always buzz in to get into the hotel.
everything just close like restaurants, plazas, old walls, chivas stop. The staff who doesnt speak English but understood everything and ready to help
Small bathroom, difficult to adjust hot/cold water
It is away from the noise yet close enough to walk everywhere. Supermarket around the corner and the ladies at the reception, if you can speak some Spanish are super helpful
our room had a king bed and was comfortable and spacious. very clean. close to everything in the old cartagena. beach is only 10 minutes away. taxi ride to the beach costs USD $3. Has hot water which is a bit of a luxury in cartagena but only for short showers.
Great location right in historic center, large grocery right on the corner and 5 minute walk to just about anywhere in the walled center. Also only 3 minute walk to Getsemani. Staff was nice, gave me a map, and I felt secure. Free Wi-Fi worked well almost always. Though on a busy street, my room on first floor was completely quiet, which was great.
Room had no window and no desk, and there was nowhere to sit and relax in the lobby. So it's just a good clean safe room for a good price. I paid 105,000 COP per night for 4 nights, or about US $45.
Very friendly staff, only 8 rooms but in the walled city and good for price
Really nice, good sized and extremely clean room with a/c, a very comfy bed and a brand new bathroom. Excellent location for exploring the old town. Staff very friendly and helpful and have a 24hr reception (major bonus as we arrived at 1am). Good value for money for a short stay as Cartagena is very expensive and we only paid (at 118,000 pesos) a little more than what 2 beds in a hostel dorm would cost. We would definitely recommend and stay here again.
Hotel staff provided tourism tips and contacts.
No breakfast offered
We stayed in Casa Alejandria in our 3rd trip to Cartagena and it was definitely the best hotel we have stayed in. The price was reasonable and the location was perfect in San Diego. The bedroom on the ground floor was dark but it kind of had a window which is a plus in budget hotels in Cartegana. There were 2 beds in the room, a double and a single so it was quite spacious. There was no breakfast included but we went to the Exito supermarket next door and brought stuff back to eat in the garden of the hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The shower had hot water.
- Nice hospitality - good location - clean facility - air conditioning in each room - hot shower - good information of the tour around the city
- nothing much... may be it would have been good if there was an option of breakfast? but everything was pretty good. :)
Staff is friendly and provided us with a map and information, very helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We had excellent Wi-Fi service. The hotel is in a good location within the walled city and it is within walking distance of most of the sights.
The location and the price
There isn't swimming pool
location was nice, staff no English at all, very difficult to converse or get any tourist info from them but they seemed to be nice,
5 days in Cartagena for a tourist is was too long, 2 to 3 would be fair.
The beds are comfortable and it is a in a quite location
The location was extremely convenient to walk anywhere within the Old City as well as to surrounding neighborhoods like Gethsemani. Lots of taxis, great restaurants, and nightlife immediately nearby. Also, the room was extremely quiet with no street noise and the air conditioner (not in the bathroom) and hot water worked well.
Staff does not speak English so a basic understanding of Spanish is recommended. Further, they weren't the most personable and weren't focused on customer service other than initial recommendations at check-in with a map and getting me a cab upon departure. I didn't ask for anything more so they could have been more helpful if prompted. The rooms are extremely basic and there is no breakfast.
Friendly staff who helped out even through language barriers
Best stay in Columbia out of all 5 cities I visited. I literally told the front desk like 10 times how I wished I could have booked here earlier. I was almost in tears when I finally slept a night without a bar or a nightclub blaring music all night, an experience I had the first several nights in Cartagena. I'm a careful spender when it comes to sleeping on vacation, usually opting for dorms or hostels, but the quality, leisure, and privacy this hotel offers in comparison to hostels cannot be measured in money, something I thought I would never say. Get the room without the window, the pictures on the website do this room no justice. I stayed in several hostels in Cartagena and if there is anything that says "loud noise all night" or "can't sleep because of the music" don't be a fool like I did and sleep there thinking there won't be any noise, even in low season. You have no idea what game you're trying to play, clubs here play at max volume until 4:30 AM, even if there are zero customers. For those that are thinking about dorming in Cartagena I would strongly consider you keep this hotel as a second option. This hotel saved my trip.
Front desk is a bit shy/introvert of foreigners. Unlikely to chat up but is helpful with the local map/restaurants. The hotel blends in with street really well. There is a sign but at night when it is completely dark you'll be hard pressed to find it.
