Very friendly staff, only 8 rooms but in the walled city and good for price
Hotel staff provided tourism tips and contacts.
No breakfast offered
We stayed in Casa Alejandria in our 3rd trip to Cartagena and it was definitely the best hotel we have stayed in. The price was reasonable and the location was perfect in San Diego. The bedroom on the ground floor was dark but it kind of had a window which is a plus in budget hotels in Cartegana. There were 2 beds in the room, a double and a single so it was quite spacious. There was no breakfast included but we went to the Exito supermarket next door and brought stuff back to eat in the garden of the hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The shower had hot water.
- Nice hospitality - good location - clean facility - air conditioning in each room - hot shower - good information of the tour around the city
- nothing much... may be it would have been good if there was an option of breakfast? but everything was pretty good. :)
Staff is friendly and provided us with a map and information, very helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. We had excellent Wi-Fi service. The hotel is in a good location within the walled city and it is within walking distance of most of the sights.
The location and the price
There isn't swimming pool
location was nice, staff no English at all, very difficult to converse or get any tourist info from them but they seemed to be nice,
5 days in Cartagena for a tourist is was too long, 2 to 3 would be fair.
The beds are comfortable and it is a in a quite location
The location was extremely convenient to walk anywhere within the Old City as well as to surrounding neighborhoods like Gethsemani. Lots of taxis, great restaurants, and nightlife immediately nearby. Also, the room was extremely quiet with no street noise and the air conditioner (not in the bathroom) and hot water worked well.
Staff does not speak English so a basic understanding of Spanish is recommended. Further, they weren't the most personable and weren't focused on customer service other than initial recommendations at check-in with a map and getting me a cab upon departure. I didn't ask for anything more so they could have been more helpful if prompted. The rooms are extremely basic and there is no breakfast.
Friendly staff who helped out even through language barriers
Best stay in Columbia out of all 5 cities I visited. I literally told the front desk like 10 times how I wished I could have booked here earlier. I was almost in tears when I finally slept a night without a bar or a nightclub blaring music all night, an experience I had the first several nights in Cartagena. I'm a careful spender when it comes to sleeping on vacation, usually opting for dorms or hostels, but the quality, leisure, and privacy this hotel offers in comparison to hostels cannot be measured in money, something I thought I would never say. Get the room without the window, the pictures on the website do this room no justice. I stayed in several hostels in Cartagena and if there is anything that says "loud noise all night" or "can't sleep because of the music" don't be a fool like I did and sleep there thinking there won't be any noise, even in low season. You have no idea what game you're trying to play, clubs here play at max volume until 4:30 AM, even if there are zero customers. For those that are thinking about dorming in Cartagena I would strongly consider you keep this hotel as a second option. This hotel saved my trip.
Front desk is a bit shy/introvert of foreigners. Unlikely to chat up but is helpful with the local map/restaurants. The hotel blends in with street really well. There is a sign but at night when it is completely dark you'll be hard pressed to find it.
Good location Friendly staff Clean rooms Decent wifi
Laundry is too expensive at 4k COP for a shirt.
Super location in San Diego (part of the old town). Right beside an exito (huge Colombian change comparable to Tesco) which also has a secure ATM Staff very helpful and accommodating although we had difficulty as we only have beginners Spanish. They organised tours for us and gave us sound advice at every step. The night watchlady is a star! 24 hr front desk. VERY secure! Very new comfortable bed. Great air con. We paid for a basic room so that's exactly what we got (ground floor). The rooms are very quiet and soundproof. Highly recommend all in all, it was so nice we ended up spending more time than we should have in our room.
Not that I minded but be aware that you pay the bill on arrival instead of departure!
Location and staff.
AC in lobby not working
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and neat, and made up every night. No disturbances or excess noise. Located in the middle of the historic centro location right around the corner from a grocery store.
One day there was no electricity, which was a killer during the heat of the day, but that was due to a city-wide power outage. There is no lounge area at the hotel as of yet.
Location Cleanliness Quality of room amenities Staff very helpfull, helped book our travel o Taganga
No window in room No breakfast Walk back from city center includes a few poorly lit streets, would recommend taking a cab
Big comfortable rooms, good shower, good wi fi, good location, very nice and helpful staff.
No public area so you ca'nt just stay anywhere exept for your room.
Casa Alejandria is a clean and quiet small hotel. The staff who are the owners are always there for advice, so alway ask them-about taxis, trips to the Islands, how to get around, and how to travel to other cities, they were the sweetest Colombian's we've met! We stayed on the second floor, a room that sleeps 4 or 5. It has TV, the A/C is super cold, and you can leave it on always! You'll be surprised how many hotels have a rule to turn off the air during the day until 8pm, even if you are in the room! We were able to store food in the small fridge in the reception area. The restrooms are clean. Is on a busy street in San Diego, right behind El Centro, but you can't really hear the street noise. Food market Exito is really close, and the Old City is walking distance, as well as museums, shops and restaurants. Always felt safe. It is not a hostel so don't expect common areas or such. The internet worked great always! Is a simple but humble hotel. The reception area could use an update and fresh paint, but we were happy there and will come back.
Extremely helpful staff who accommodated us around the clock. Additionally, they have us tips on things to see/do not only in Cartagena but also Santa Marta and the Tayrona national park. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Cartagena!
wifi in room not just in lobby staff wanted to help even though they don't speak much English location within walled old city is fantastic! so close to everything shops literally next door and across the little street air con very good, shower good, bed comfortable not far from airport, only $5 USD each way access to refridgerator in lobby very secure
I wished I could stay a few more days!
Good is not the word to describe casa Alejandria. It was excellent! Staff was great. Thr ladies welcomed me with a big smile. Wi-fi was available in the room. BTW in the room you don't hear any oitside noise which is a big plus.
Staff very kind. Great location, you are in the old city and u can just walk around.
You have to get the right room (on the ground floor). The other two I visited in the first floor were really sad and dull for that price.
Very central, nice bathroom, good value.
No window in the room
Sweet owners. Polite and quiet. The place is safe as they open the outer-door for you everytime you re-enter. (It's on a main busy road)
The didn't speak English but then again I read that in the reviews. The 'maps' were just internet print outs from google.
This places is well priced for what you get. I like the fact that they clean your room everyday and by the 2/3 night they change your sheets. The older women is much friendlier than the young women. The ladder wasn't very approachable, so I avoided asking her too many questions, as she seemed bothered at times.
I wished they had a little place for the guest to at least warm food, so one doesn't eat out all the time. Also it would be nice if they had a little area to eat/hang out. I hated having to take myfood to the room, or always eat out.
