Lovely place to see birds, swim in some waterfalls, have some good coffee and chocolate on farms, get some craft beer. Very hot though— stay hydrated and pack sunscreen. I would recommend this place and advise hiking around to enjoy the nature.

Loved Minca so much.
Loved Minca so much. The town feels very catered to tourists and it was hard to find a cheap, local restaurant with a menu del dia for example but there are lots of good western-ish options and the wildlife/surrounding area is so beautiful. Highly recommend the Cerro Kennedy hike (stay at El Ramo) too.

Minca is a fantastic place to visit to get a sense of the mountainous area of Colombia and its lush and alluring jungle with all the glory of its flora and fauna. Only a short drive from the Santa Marta airport, you find ourself in a little village that is a haven to hikers, motocross bikers, and bird watchers. There are many places to eat with a variety of cuisines and for the most part the food was good. Our favorite activity was birdwatching. We had fantastic outings booked through Jungle Joe. Our guides Tony Martin and Gustavo Viloria were both extremely professional and informed. We loved the La Vittoria Coffee Plantation tucked away in the jungle. Another favorite was Rio Elemento, a hotel/restaurant on the banks of the river with an awesome swing that carries you over the rushing waters.

It is very pretty and I appreciated the access to other types of food since we had been traveling the Colombia for a bit and had been exclusively eating traditional colombian food. You cannot speak about Minca without mentioning the bugs, they are terrible! the worse part is you don’t really see them or know when you are being bit. You just look down and your legs are covered in bites. Also there is a new age spirituality vibe that is strongly felt in the town.

It’s not a party town but it’s beautiful, scenic, has lovely waterfalls! Nice place to wind down after long hikes. Either take mototaxis everywhere is you don’t want to walk or hike! Ask for a helmet!

I loved Minca, very easy to get to from the public market square in Santa Marta, you take the bus and it takes 40 minutes, I loved walking to the Marinca Waterfalls, it's about a 45-minute walk from Minca and on the way you can enter to the Ear of the World, this is free. I also recommend going to Cascada Escondida. It's easy to get around by motorbike or bike but I do everything walking, the landscapes are beautiful and very safe. Try to get to Pozo Azul very early to avoid crowds, especially if you go on weekends or holidays. It is highly recommended to go to Cerro Kennedy to see the sunrise, it is amazing, you can get there by motorcycle, four-wheel drive or walking, but it takes around 6 hours, so I recommend staying one night there and returning the next day. Another very nice waterfall in the Jaguar. Do not miss the sunset at Casa Loma and to eat I recommend Sol de Minca and Chiquita Brava, there is a bakery called Miga, the chocolate bread is very tasty. Take repellent and sunscreen especially when you go to the waterfalls and if you are going to walk, lots of water. Minca a magical place.
One if our favourite places to stay at in all of Colombia! We would gladly go back any time. If you don’t mind walking a bit up hill and through the forest to get there, you are rewarded with tranquility and peace. It’s a 20 minute walk from the centre of Minca on the way to Marinka waterfalls. You are surrounded by nature and Nore and Carlo are super lovely and attentive hosts. There is a small bridge crossing the river now. Having a flash light is essential in order to find your way around at night.
Spacious dorm with good ensuite bathroom/shower facilities. Great location a short and pleasant walk across the river to town and very quiet in the evenings. Staff are friendly, can't comment on service as we never ordered anything from the restaurant/bar. Breakfast was good, the biggest breakfast we have had in Colombia that was included in our accommodation price. A/C worked well, although to be honest at night in Minca you don't really need it.
Doña Ana is so kind, helpful, and generous. She is also really nice to talk to and cares so much about the people who stay with her. She helped us communicate with the taxi driver that brought us to Minca, as well as arranging a taxi for when we left. The location is great, about a 12 minute walk away from the center of the town (take the marked shortcut on the road). Rustic but comfy and we had a lovely time.
This was by far the best place we stayed in Colombia! We absolutely loved the room (jacuzzi was a plus!) and the incredible views of the surrounding mountains. The viewing platform 5mins walk away was the best spot for a 360° mountain sunset! Erica was an absolutely fantastic host, she was really communicative and helped us with transport and local activities. We loved the dogs! Food was also delicious.
This place is exceptional. We stayed in a private double room and we had great big windows overlooking the jungle. Very private and comfortable. The food was some of the best we’ve had in Colombia. The yoga of a morning was free and the perfect way to start the day. We could have stayed here a lot longer. It was one of our Colombian highlights.
Very friendly, warmhearted staff. Great location in the middle of the nature, about 40 min by foot outside the village, that's why it's really nice quiet and peaceful. It's a small Finca, not luxurious, but a good value.
All day long you can enjoy Coffee and hot chocolate of their own production, it's the best coffee I had in Colombia.
The hostel is in an amazing location in the middle of the nature, actually the most peaceful site i’ve ever been in colombia! there are so many areas where you can chill. Food is really good and the owners of the hostel are so nice! And last but not least there’s free drinkable water and free coffee at any time of the day.
Friendly stuff, they were very helpful.
Clean rooms.
Beautiful area, nature and view. Loved the path to the river.
East access to restaurants, supermarket, bank. Bike taxi is around 2$ from the hotel to Minca. Walk is about 10 mins.
Walk to waterfall 1 hr.
Great WiFi for working as well.
One of the best stays we had in Colombia! Very friendly and helpful staff. We were the only accommodation on the whole hill and had a beautiful sunset view with a bonfire. The house was very clean and well prepared against mosquitoes. We really enjoyed the stay, highly recommended!
Bar and seating around were nice. The "Secret" spot was hard to find. Public Bathroom were clean. Pool could have been cleaner but overall was nice. Nice location for coffee tour and going out in minca town.
this hotel has the best views in Minca. although it is quite far from Minca (10km ) the journey is worth the experience.the staff(and especially bar staff) are very friendly. I highly recommend staying here
The location is great - amazing views from the restaurant balcony and pool area. Bathroom looked outdated, but this was the best shower we've had in Colombia - hot water, good water pressure, and spacious.
Dunarinka has the best views of all the hostels in Minca. From the common areas, you can see the ocean! Staff were friendly and very helpful. Air conditioning worked well in the private room.
Location! The views were astounding. The room was comfortable with a balcony where we could drink in the views and watch the birds. Best breakfast we’ve had so far in Colombia.
Best hostel I’ve stayed in Colombia! Huge pool in a beautiful backyard next to the river. Delicious pancakes for breakfast. I cannot recommend this place enough
