We booked a superior room but there were no windows, the fridge inside the room was noisy, light isolation was poor Location is not ideal as it is far from the harbour
We like the nice finishes, decoration and cleanliness. Staff attitude is great and flexible to ensure guest feels good. It was nice they let us use the jacuzzy as long as we wanted after chackout. Breakfast was included and was great! Best value for your money!
Location, location, location. Although getting there involves walking for several blocks on unpaved roads, what better way to end the day than by sitting in the jacuzzi sipping a mojito and enjoying the view of Taganga and its port?
Several menu items were unavailable.
Reception staff were really helpful, giving us tips and booking trips for Tayrona National Park, Minca, Santa Marta, etc. Restaurant staff were also excellent, and the breakfast was lovely. A lot of reviewers have mentioned the dirt road up to the hotel from the town, but we felt it was nice to be away from the loud music of the clubs, and it is still only 10 minutes walk from the beach and the rest of the action.
It is very basic. The rooms are more akin to doubles in a hostel than a budget hotel and there is likely better value out there.
Taganga isn't the loveliest town, but from the roof of this hotel it looks much better. Nice rooms, great staff, tasty food.
Bit of a far walk up the hill.
Our stay was really nice. On one hand it is true that the hotel is one of the furthest from the center ( and it is more than the 5mins as some people said, unless you manage to powerwalk through the rocks in the street). But on the other hand this allows you to actually cross the village and get a taste of its life, which I think is great when travelling. Because you are further ( and therefore higher) the view is great at the front ( bay) but also back (montains). Breakfast and cleaning lady was really good. The hotel looks as the only 'boutique' styled in town.
I wish the staff came across a little more knowledgeable. We were misinformed on loncha prices as well as bus Marsol services ( for info : loncha prices are always returns and Marsol always drops at your hotel not bus terminal like other regular companies)
We liked the design with the native style paintings and tiles etc. and the friendly, helpful staff.
No windows in the upstairs bedrooms which was very odd given that there was a kitchen area (which we never used). The upstairs restaurant was very windy with no windbreak so your food was in danger of blowing away! Not enough shade for a very hot sun so tables had to be moved around at breakfast time. We got the impression that the hotel designer had not thought enough about practical issues. Why have 3 tiny Jacuzzis next to the restaurant on the top floor (which didn't work)?
Well, Taganga is by no means a place where you will find luxury resorts. But it is a good place to get boats for short 40min trips to very beautiful beaches. It appears Ki'Kuxtah is a good place for the money you pay, and one of the few with hot water. Some rooms dont have windows and that is not great if you feel discomfort when using air conditioning. It is 6 mins away from the coastline where most restaurants and noise come from. I think it is worth the walk if you prefer a quiet night sleep, although the walk is not 'scenic; in the sense that the streets are dirt roads. I rate my overall stay as pleasant, but mainly because I spent most day at the beautiful tayrona beaches, and when I came to the hotel I found a nice clean room with hot shows, and quiet night for sleep.
When arrived at the hotel my feeling was to leave immediately as not well indicated (driving my car) and road was horrible.. but immediately while doing my ckeck in found Personnel friendly, smiling, helpful and during my short stay I was in amazement, comfort room with air conditioning and hot shower, the access to various services such as Internet, etc. .., the staff to help you to organize outings for Tayrona Park, etc. .. etc. .. The exceptional terrace to admire the sunset, night sky .. and to complete the decoration of the building both inside and outside rooms and common parts completely imprecedented recalling Indigenes de la Sierra & Tayrona Park .. Truly Sublime & Unforgettable ... Do not hesitate.... Hotel name means? this answer is above..
The road is furrowed by the seasonal rains, but quickly compensated by the pleasure of walking and discovering the rich & varied styles of housing, the church soon half millennium .... One problem were barking dogs at dawn ... no matter... what is the well being of the site you need to enjoy..
Spacious room, kitchen all equiped, big shower. Two amacas we could use at 2nd floor. Jacuzzi and minigym at 3rd floor, where there is the restaurant and we had breakfast. 4 kinds of set breakfast: scrambled eggs, pancakes, rise and beans or cereal. All come with a fresh juice, coffee or chocolate, and a few bread slices, butter and jam. Reserving in advance you can also taste the typical 'costena'. Good cocktails and some of them in happy hour between 6 and 8 pm. Free towels for the beach changed every day. Hair dryer every time we needed. Very nice people in the office and restaurant. 15 min walk from the beach, so it's far enough not to be bothered by music and chaos.
The water in the hot tub is not hot, neigther it is the water in the shower, even if we asked every night to raise the temperature and they sayed they would. The restaurant was closed the night we arrived because the cook... was tired. No restaurants nearby, but we bought something to cook in a tiny shop 100m away and used the kitchen in the room. No electric plug nor a place (not even a small shelf) to put your beautycase in the bathroom. No windows in the room nor in the bathroom, a little dark in the day, but good enlightening at night. The area looks poor but quiet during the day. Travelling with our son 6y old, we didn't feel safe to go out at night (after 6pm it gets dark) but we used the kitchen or the restaurant, the jacuzzi and the bar, and relaxed in the hotel. A hook to hang something (clothes or beach towels) in the room would be useful.
Staff was very helpful
Nice beach in front, loungy atmosphere in the hotel, colonial feel, nice furniture, friendly staff, spacious rooms, close to the historic centre ( taxi ) of Cartagena.
Wifi only close to the lobby, not in the room, as promised
Nice clean hotel, breakfast was good, nice view over Taganga.
Noisy streets with music blaring most of the night. Stray dogs barking non-stop.
Friendly and helpfull staff. Modern rooms that are completely cleaned every day.
The last part of the road to the hotel is very bad
This is a good location. Although it's up from the beach it's much better, I've been to taganga before and it's very noisy along the waterfront so this is preferable. Quiet, beautiful views, but still walking distance to everything
The staff was extremely helpful whenever we needed some guidance or tips about what to do in the area. The rooms were clean and spacious and the air con a luxurious plus!
The hotel was a little bit far from the main strip. This made it difficult to our taxi driver to drop us at the exact location. Saying this, the hotel was only a 5 minute walk from the seafront..
The faciities are pretty good, the staff are very very kind! It is very comfortable, clean, and the view from the terrace is pretty beautiful.
Access roads are extremely deteriorated, but this is not fault of Ki'kuxtah Hotel (it's fault of the mayor of Taganga). It is away from the beach and it is not recommended to walk at night (maybe dangerous. Again, not fault of the hotel).
Personel very kind and always available. The rooms are big, very comfortable and with everthing you need to cook your own food so you don't have to eat in restaurants and can save some money. Very fancy decoration too. It's a very nice place to relax; I could stay there a week or more.
The hotel's street is in very bad conditions (it's not the hotel's fault but it plays against); nevertheless, taxis come and leave you at the door. It would be a problem only if you arrive by foot with all your luggage (it's uphill too).
