Playa Scondida is a rustic-style eco lodge on Baru Island, one hour from Cartagena by motorboat. It offers thatched bungalows that overlook the Caribbean Sea.
Score from 30 reviews Excellent
The kayaking was a good experience. Nothing else to report.
The facility was inaccurate in its representations of its offerings (there are no corals to be viewed and the "beach" is tiny. The accommodations are quite basic and the food menu is restricted. Most importantly, the boat ride to the island was on a hotel boat - but on the return trip (in order to cut costs) they put us on a public ferry that took three times as long to return. However, they had charged us for a private boat ride on both legs.
Nice room, grounds were clean, & service was above expectations. Small beach but free transportation to Playa Azul.
We had pizza the night before and it was not cooked properly. Small beach. Transportation is expensive if you have to leave before 3:00 PM. Most flights to Medellin leave at 10:00 AM.
The staff is fantastic! They have a great team, courteous, helpful and friendly.i will recomend this hotel to anyone that will like to have some peace and quiet. The food is excellent too. 10 out of 10
We went in low season, Sept, and we really enjoyed it. There was only 3 other guests so the staff were relaxed and we had no problems at all. The room was big & comfortable, and we had all the facilities to ourselves.
The staff are pretty slow in terms of food service. I could see this being a problem when the resort is busy.
It was a nice place but a bit expensive for what you got. We regretted not having gone to one of the more expensive hotels since we ended up paying the same.
Nothing was included so you are a captive audience.
The hotel staff was great, very friendly. Talking to Andres was like talking to an old friend. Very attentive staff. It is a remote hotel. Reachable by boat or by motorcycle from Playa Blanca. The road to get there was unpaved for the most part, which was great if you truly wanted to relax and be away from masses of tourists.
The beach of the hotel had a lot of mangrove vegetation, which made it difficult to enjoy. But a nicer beach was just 500ft across the bay in the public park islands.
Staff was very attentive and kind. The view was spectacular. Free use of kayaks.
Location was difficult to find and very expensive by boat.
Hotel staff Andreas and Mauricio were very friendly and attentive to every need. Hotel is small and in a very isolated area with beautiful and picturesque scenery, perfect for a getaway from the busy city of Cartagena. Accommodations were fantastic. Rooms have air conditioning, hot water, and a view of the cove. Windows are thatch or screen so outside noises and some heat come in, but that's part of the charm of a resort like Sport Baru. Andreas was nice enough to give us a tour of the local town of Baru, where everyone was very friendly and inviting. One small note, everything here is a la carte and there are no other restaurants on Baru so you either eat at Sport Baru or you don't eat. That being said, the food is cooked fresh for every meal exceeded expectations for a remote island resort. Overall very pleased with my stay at Sport Baru, I would return if it wasn't so far from the USA. Highly recommended for a getaway that really gets away.
Was not made aware you cannot reach the resort by car until we called the day of the reservation to ask for directions from Cartagena. 450,000 pesos for boat transportation from Cartagena (one way). No internet (could be a positive or negative, depending how you look at it).
They try to discourage you from taking any trip outside the hotel especially if you want to organize it by yourself.
great spot and good tours which are not full of laods of people so you get a more peaceful experience.
when the bill came at the end, was more expensive than expected due to costs of boat transportation and the fact that you can only eat and drink from the hotel.
It was very relaxing and romantic way to spend a few days
The snorkeling trip was bad. The guy driving the boat just put the boat on a beach and through two bags with flippers and snorkels then he immediately took the boat offshore and anchored. The flippers were not size adjustable and the pair I had were too small. The area was not good for snorkeling because no fish or sea life were visible -- just rocks
You need to consider the effort to locate all the amenities and other goods in a remote paradisiac island. I would say you can afford it or not. That simple. I definitely recommend it.
paysage, nourriture, calme,
too expensive Transportation not available unclear in the price, you get ripped off all the time do not give invoice
