Great communal area
Great location, this place has a really homely feel, the staff are lovely and very friendly, great communal kitchen to cook in. Stay here!
I really liked the location, it was within easy walking distance of the main part of town, but not so close that you had loud music pumping next to your room all night. I also really liked the open patio in front where you can lounge on hammocks or the couch. It was awesome to just relax there, any time of day. Wifi was excellent, I got a lot of work done there. The kitchen was good too- very clean and large. 2 refrigerators. They didn't have any forks- random! There was a coffee maker and lots of coffee. There was a hot water shower, low water pressure but still a nice experience! Bathroom and shower were clean. Cute furnishings and tastefully decorated. The room had a fan and mosquito net. Heidi was not feeling well so we didn't get to chat with her much, instead we talked more with Becky, who was really knowledgeable and helpful.
The room had a funky smell. Maybe it was the chemical treatment to keep the wood from getting moldy, or maybe it was insect spray, but that pervasive smell kind of ruined it for me. We couldn't stay there longer than one night. We also didn't want to keep the windows open because they didn't have a screen, so the smell got worse over night!
Nice vibe, and great location. Short walk to restraunts, supers, and bars but secluded enough to be quiet and peaceful.
for Avarage price. But if your looking for comfortable vacation, you might have a problem finding them in here.
The location is good, just far enough outside town so it is quiet but turn left and you're in town. Clean and well appointed kitchen including fridges. Gerald was very helpful on front desk but when he wasn't around there wasn't anyone else. Nice lounge area downstairs with tables, hammocks and chairs. Rooms include a desk and chairs, small wardrobe and shelf.
We asked for a double bed but were given two singles. The beds were fairly small and too soft for my liking. The wifi was painfully slow when you were the only one on it and unusable when others trying as well. Reception area was shut anytime Gerald wasnt working so you had to go find the owner upstairs if you needed anything. Cash only
I truly enjoyed my stay Cabinas Coconut Grove. The room was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. The art and furnishings fit very nicely and created a ambiance. The bed was comfortable. Shared bath was also spotlessly clean Gerald, the desk clerk, was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Great location near the beach at the edge of town. Short walk to everything - and quiet in the evening. Very reasonalby priced. The owner lives on-site and was very nice. Kitchen privileges were included in the cost.
Bed was ok, room was clean. Sheets and towels were changed every day. Location was good, bike rental in front.
Staff was only there from 2-9 pm and not very helpfull answering our questions. Shared toilet was not so clean either and just one available. So no other toilet was available when ours was clogged. Rooms were dark and damp, smell of dog.
The location was good, you could walk into town, it was away from the more "party zone" of town. The bed was very comfortable and Heidi was very friendly and helpful. Walking distance to Salsa Brava and Cocles Beach.
This was my second stay at coconut grove. To me it was like coming home. Its one of the best places I've stayed at. The staff is always professional, very accomodating and they treat you like family. I was always stay at coconut grove whenever I visit puerto viejo. Its the absolute best!
very nice place to stay! close to the center and just a few meters to the sea. nice staff, very comfortable rooms and lounge. kitchen available! (: und auch perfekte deutsche beratung verfügbar (;
Clean linen. Communal kitchen. Close to the beach. Owners are helpfull. We were overbooked, but the problem was solved in a professional manner.
Only one shared toilet and shower. As a result, not very clean.
Quiet. Excellent equiped kitchen. Nice lounge. Close to shops, restaurants, beach and centrum.
Neighborhood of trees very climatic, although near the centre it's cosy and relaxing, owners very friendly and helpful in organising trips, door to door with great restaurant
everything is excellent, the best kitchen
Heidi, the owner, is such a helpful and friendly lady. Happy to advise whatever the question. The place has a full kitchen, I didn't cook there but everything you need is there. Beautifully clean and well maintained, highly recommend. In a convenient spot to everything and away from the party noise. Loved it. Thank you Heidi.
Nothing. It is one of the best places I have stayed.
I stayed at the coconut grove for my recent vacation to puerto viejo and I enjoyed every minute of my week long stay! Heidi, the owner, is a kind and wonderful lady. She made us feel welcomed and very comfortable from the moment we checked in and her dog leyla was such a sweetheart and an added bonus for a dog lover like myself...lol. This is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings, and if you're lucky enough you might just see a sloth chilling in a tree =) Ill be back again for sure. Make sure you check it out!
Good place Located very central. Priceworth
Well I have no ideas about what I didn´t like. Maybe the walls not good for protecting noice. But not a big problem.
Loved the location of this place, it was still within walking distance of anything in the city, but was also on the edge so it felt more private. The rooms were cleaned daily and the beds were comfortable. Lots of space to relax in hammocks or lounge furniture. Staff was very friendly and helpful. It was our first hot shower in Costa Rica after two weeks! Loved it.
the shared shower room was sort of smelly, but that is to be expected at hostels. Didn't like smelling/being around cigarette smoke. The place is pretty dark inside so hang out outside!
Only stayed one night, because we arrived a day earlier than our friends who had rented a home for the week further down the beach. Laid back atmosphere. Mosquito nets on the beds assured no middle of the night bugs. We had a hammock right outside the window. Heidi (the owner) was very helpful. If I was traveling alone or with a partner I would definitely stay again.
It was a little hard to find from the directions, but I think that's mainly due to how addresses work down here.
