My boyfriend and I stayed for 3 days. Cabinas Nirvanas was a short walk to a beautiful beach that felt almost exclusive and the hotel staff gave great suggestions and were extremely accommodating! We definitely recommend a stay here if you're in Cahuita!
This lovely place was great and made our first five days in Costa Rica a real pleasure! The hotel owners, Sepp and Yolanda, were so helpful and made us a great breakfast every morning with the best home made jam ever tasted! :) A great mix of jungle, sea and a friendly laidback caribbean feeling makes a perfect paradise!
That we had to leave!
Marvellous stay at this beautiful lodge in midst of tropical nature, beautiful flower garden, nice wooden cabanas with terrace and hammock, very close to carribean sea, hosted by extremely friendly and knowledgeable couple which was extremely helpful (even helped out with car problems); If we come again from Germany to Costa Rica, we will definitely visit Cabanas Nirvana again!
Beautifull looking garden. Very nice bungalow with outside kitchen and all kitchentools available. Nice and very clean pool. Cold drinks in the kitchen, when you leave you pay the drinks you had. Very friendly owners and they give great information.
A little far from the towncentre but possible to walk but bring your flashlight.
Very cozy cabins and very nice staff. They helped us sort our very tight planning!
The cabinas I had was so nice! I really enjoyed having the kitchen outside on my terrasse. It was good to have the pool just by the place as well. The inside of the cabin is spacious and the bed, so comfortable! In more, the hosts were extremely helpful. I really recommand Cabinas Nirvanas!
Extremely helpful staff. Very relaxing place in lovely surroundings. Really good value for money.
Yolanda and Sepp are outstanding owners. They went out of their way to help us with information, taxis and to make sure our stay was comfortable. As well the staff are very friendly. Looking forward to our next visit in December.
You could not have asked for a warmer welcome.Sep picked us up from the bus station after a long journey delayed due to a rain storm. We are Travelling with two 8 yr olds and they provided excellent suggestions re meals, a tour guide -we snorkelled (first time for husband and daughters and the guides were very patient and watchful - they loved it) and helped us rearrange our hire car pick up so we did not need to go back to San Jose. Kitchen facilities with the room were very useful. We have decided to stay a few more days in Cahuita but they were full so they recommended another cabinas down the road. Highly recommend staying at cabinas nirvana.
Only issue was that my husband found the bed a little uncomfortable however myself and my daughters slept well. No air con but fans were good.
Our bungalow was comfortable, with a hammock, comfy deck chair, and little outdoor kitchen. We were right next to the pool, but because of the layout and all the beautiful plants, felt very private. The owners are very helpful, not only providing information but also helping us book and plan trips. I definitely recommend staying here if you are in Cahuita!
The water doesn't get very hot, but when we were there the weather was so warm that you didn't want a very hot shower anyway.
Nice beautiful cabinas in Good Standard. Everyday cleaning Service, nice Garden area. Owners very friendly and helpful. Familiar feeling. We would always come back again.
Sepp and Yolanda are excellent hosts! They couldn't have done any more for us from giving us lifts to informing us of the best things to eat/see/do. The cabinas are lovely and well equipped and the pool is an added bonus. The cabinas were cleaned immaculately every day without fail and fresh sheets and towels were provided every couple of days. Would certainly recommend staying here, we had an unforgettable time!
Kind and helpfull staff Good facility
a bit of a walk to the center and beaches When we were there there was a lot of rain, the road to the centre was a bit poor.
Th outdoor kitchen facilities connected to the room was perfect for us, The room was clean and comfortable with mosquito nets which we did not need to use. I would recommend Cabinas Nivana to my friends and family without any hesitation, we plan to be back there in February.
(1) Relatively close to a beach, but outside the hassle of the village, which provides a quite environment (2) Has a small swiming pool
(1) Smelly outdated bathroom: flush not working well; backpacker-hostel style electrical shower; lack of hot water in sin, and minimal in shower; rusted toilet appliances (2) Bad mattresses and cheap mosquito nets with holes (3) Lack of mosquito net in main window, which prevented opening it at night. On the other hand, useless old and terribly noisy air conditioning unit (4) Terrible payment system. The owners request a wire transfer of 50% of the total rate to a bank in Portugal in euros, with hefty commissions and 1.21 dollars/euro exchange rate (while the current exchange rate was 1.34). No credit cards accepted for payment. Outrageous cancellation policy (5) Despite being served in stylish plates, and some nice touches (homemade jam), the breakfast fare is limited to a serving of fruits, juice and supermarket ham and cheese with toasts, much less than a typical tico breakfast, and far less than a buffet in a good hotel. In addition, breakfast is not included in the rate, and costs $10 per person. Added to the price of the room, the resulting rate is close to what we paid by 4-star classy lodges in other places in Costa Rica. (6) The so-called lush gardens are limited to a small space around the swimming pool. Most of the grounds are in fact taken by the parking space (7) Wifi disconnects every few minutes, making it necessary to enter password each time, (8) Greedy owners under apparent kindness, as revealed through several details in their attitude throughout our stay In summary, this place is absolutely overrated. I understand that most favorable opinions may correspond to a past time of this business, in charge by other owners, with a better state of maintenance and more favorable rates and payment policies. At present, we don't think that the positive opinions are justified by any means. There are far better places to stay while visiting Cahuita.
Very good location, very nice staff (a couple that speak a lot of different languages), very intimate little house in a garden with a pool, near the beach. You can have a kitchen with oil, and all the stuff for cooking. Room very good with a mosquito net
Nothing, it was perfect. Maybe the shower was not very warm, but it is often the case in Costa Rica. I stronly recommanded and will recommand the place
Cabinas Nirvana was amazing. It is literally in the middle of paradise. Monkeys swinging from trees, colorful frogs and butterflies always showing up at your doorstep. The rooms were clean. The kitchen is perfect for families who want to prepare there meals on a budget. The owners treated us like family. Made sure we were comfortable. Kyla the great dane dog was so friendly. She always made our day. Playful and always wanted us to play with her. She is truly an amazing dog.
I honestly have nothing bad to say about Cabinas Nirvana. My family truly loved it.
Owners very welcoming and friendly, gave useful information about the area and gave us lifts to and from 'bus station. Excellent setting, wildlife (frogs, lizards &c.) around the cabins, short walk to Cahuita main street and national park. Thoughtfully equipped kitchen with good selection of pots/pans/cutlery, coffee machine and basic condiments. Near to Playa Negra and some good bars/restaurants.
Fan in cabin could have been more powerful.
Great place to stay. Short walk to the beach! The owners are very helpful and very friendly. Great place to stay!
Welcome to paradise! Blissful laziness in the Caribbean is just here. Of course, if you can do nothing, which is not easy when you are so close to a wonderful park full of animals. Great resort, great helpful and friendly owners. Absolutely perfectly organized kitchen, clean and beautifully in the cottages. Everything you need and more. On-site frogs, agouti, sloth, monkeys and whatever you manage to make out relaxing on a hammock. Enjoy the Caribbean with Nirvana. We recommend absolutely.
Absolutely recommend the place! Not only it has got a stunning garden but the rooms are lovely and very clean. The managers of the place offer the high quality service on top of being very friendly. I hope I will return there one day :-) (Ewa from Poland)
The owners, Sepp and Yolanda were absolutely lovely! They were so kind and accommodating! They picked us up from the bus station, drove us to snorkeling, drove us to the nearby town of Puerto Viejo, and dropped us off at the bus station when it was time for us to leave. They called and arranged adventures for us. The cabinas were beautiful and perfect for our needs. There was a little kitchenette on the porch of our cabina, and who wants to cook inside in the heat? The bed was super comfy for me, and was not one of those hard as a rock central american beds I was accustomed to while travelling. There is a small, but refreshing swimming pool that was a stone's throw from the cabina. While at Cabinas Nirvana we saw a two-toed sloth, a tree full of howler monkeys, the same tree the next few days was full of iguanas, agoutis came into the yard to nibble on the grass several of the days we were there, and adorable, but poisonous green dart frogs hopped around in the rain. Not to mention the scores of other creatures like butterflies, moths, dragonflies, and small toads! We are Americans who have traveled throughout the us, Europe and Mexico. We live in San Francisco, California, and are fond of the nearby (to us) little town of Bolinas (if you have been there you would have some reference) and Cahuita was the Bolinas of Costa Rica. It is a small, but charming town on the Caribbean. It is just small enough to not feel too touristy, and big enough to have several delicious restaurants (San Franciscans are no stranger to good food) two tiny groceries stores with basics necessities such as milk, eggs, sugar etc The town is also a quick and cheap bus ride from a slightly bigger party town, Puerto Viejo if you should desire more action. And there is the National Park within walking (or preferably biking-which Cabinas Nirvana rents out for $7/day-sweet basket included) distance.
That we did not stay longer!
Owners was wery helpful. Wery nice garden with swimming pool. Clean rooms. Quiet and wonderful environment.
.....far away from the beach, but nice walk
Great place to stay
Yolanda and Sepp were wonderful hosts! And made our wedding day very special!
