Score from 215 reviews Very good
At first we were a little disappointed considering its a 5 star hotel, however it quickly grew on us and we saw the charm it had to offer. The site is well maintained, the bungalows are cute and staff are friendly.
I wish we had a small fridge in the bungalow considering the communal fridge was packed with everyone else's food. The beds were not all that great.
TV cable, cleanliness, Great staff, I loved the mountain-jungle kinda environment.
Very poor wifi signal in the bedroom. Woulda been great with a small kitchenette in the bedroom.
Jessica is a great host, very friendly, enthousiastic and helpfull. We had a great time in our wunderfull house, nice swimmingpool and lots to do nearby
Nothing at all
Everything was good.Come to a quiet place.
- Warm and friendly hosts - Comfortable bungalow - Very clean, even though in the jungle - Nice breakfast (not always the same) - Drinking water in the "lobby area" for free - Apart from noisy Puerto Viejo
- Wifi signal was weak in our bungalow, in the lobby it was good
Jessica, Mark and their staff were so welcoming. The cabin we stayed in sat right in the jungle with the beach just a short walk away. Breakfast (included in the price) was always tasty. A wonderful stay.
The only downside, which could also be a plus for many people, was the distance from town. It was around a 45 min walk. Taxi are available but must be contacted rather than hailed. The staff will gladly do it for you. Just down the road is a bike rental place, however with rain we weren't inclined to ride. Just a small thing.
The property is advertised as a 5* resort, it is in fact at best a 3* B&B. A bar is advertised but there is no staff and no stock. Free wifi is advertised throughout the 'resort" but the only place that wifi works is in the communal area, below the owners residence. The pool and terrace area need a good overhaul, the furniture is tatty and not in the slightest bit inviting. If this place was advertised as a B&B that would be fine but to advertise it is a Resort is shocking. We booked and paid for nine nights but we left after three nights as we were so disappointed. Probably lovely for a nice, low key budget holiday but definitely not suitable for a luxury honeymoon that the owner had promised us. No luxury to be found here at all. We did wonder if maybe we had arrived at the wrong Caribe Town as in no way did this property meet our expectations.
Service readiness to help general feeling outdoor (for-yard) furniture
stuff related to the bath
Marc and Jess were awesome! They were so helpful, really personable and always there to help. They make you feel at ease and help you slide into Pura Vida!
I didn't really have a bad experience here, the only thing I would say would be if you are looking for massages, check out some ones nearby, the woman onsite sounded really good and was very nice but I wasn't impressed. She was late and cut the hour short and wasn't great in my opinion.
Everything about this place is wonderful! A rare find, helpful on site owners, that will book tours for you with a smile, and help with your needs to have a wonderful holiday! Excellent daily breakfasts, bottled water. Private, peaceful oasis with clean bungalows that are very comfortable. Access to kitchen and just about anything you need. The wi-fi worked well!! I hope to go back :)
Everything was great!!!
We spent our first 2 nights in Costa Rica at this delightful resort. The private bungalows were clean , well decorated , with hammocks on the patio giving them a very relaxed atmosphere. The location was perfect in between the bustling Puerto Viejo and scenic Punta Uva.However, I think what made the stay most enjoyable for us were the owners. They were friendly and very helpful giving suggestions where to eat ,beaches to swim in etc and we found their recommendations to be excellent. Jessica's home cooked breakfast was delicious and all in all it felt like we were staying with friends. Thank you for a very memorable stay and great first impression of Costa Rica! We will definitely recommend it to our family and friends.
Mark and Jessica are the kindest and most caring hotel hosts we have ever encountered. Our stay of 5 days at this resort with two adult sons was one of the best we ever had. We shall certainly go back the next opportunity we get.
Nothing really to complain about!
The owners of the hotel were friendly and knowledgable of the available activities around the hotel. They were always treating the guests with lots of smiles and willing to accommodate with our requests.
There were quite a number of insects but that's understandable as it's near to the beach and next to the forest.
Jessica was incredibly helpful and friendly. The huts are a little piece of paradise in a quiet location, if I could have stayed there for longer I most certainly would have!
This place is amazing and was all I was expecting.
Jessica and Mark are sincerely and lovely hosts. If you are looking for hired help to open every door, this is not your place. Rather, they live on the property the manage and keep things simple, yet well maintained. The atmosphere is gorgeous, as there are plenty of trees just outside your room. The bed isn't five star but it was very relaxing and the mosquito net caught any creepers looking to mingle while I slept. Great vibe.
The resort is inviting and the suite was clean. Jessica and Marc (property managers) were hospitable and welcoming. They offered great suggestions for restaurants, tours, and attractions in the area. Since the airport is 3-4 hours from the resort, they catered to our unusual check in and check out times. Location was ideal for my boyfriend and I. Playa Cocles is a few minute walk across the street and there are a few great restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast was included in our rate (which was tasty and made to order).
Upon arrival, we weren't really sure where to park or check in (resort entrance was marked, where to go after that was not). The 2nd floor to the "main house" is where the property managers live and also where one of the family suites is located. We were in that suite, which although they kept to themselves and had sheer curtains leading to our area, it was a little awkward. The suite did not have an area specifically for suitcases - luckily, we weren't using the twin sized beds to sleep in. There is not a clothing iron available, so keep that in mind if packing a nice oufit.
One of those places in which the kindness and disponibility of the owners make the difference, nice location surrounded by the jungle, homemade breakfast, clean rooms, near wonderful beaches (punta Uva is the top).
Lot of insects and spiders but if you decide to stay in the forest it is part of the game. :)
the staff was very friendly and willing to do everything they could to make you feel comfortable and welcome. Great breakfast!
The suites were very small, no AC,no TV, water temperature in the shower kept changing all the time. Towels and bed sheets are changed only every three days. It would be ok if we were paying half of the daily rate.
Cute little Bungalows, beautiful landscape setting, super friendly owners, very clean, breakfast Specials changing every day.
Location is too far off of Puerto Viejo and any other Restaurants, bars for our taste. And for the Hotel price they could have supplied free bicycles. WiFi in the Bungalows was poor to not at all. Plus, the little town of Puerto Viejo doesnt have much flair. We found to be much nicer the further away you got from the town. Especially twards more the south. And Diving is way overpriced (90 dollars).
Very private. Very nice ambiance with huge patios, huge eaves (to keep rain out), outdoor furniture, lots of windows, lots of wood. Very friendly and helpful staff. Even had a private yard.
No AC, but it did cool off some at night.
great location right into the jungle and next to the beach the owners are great and always helpful - especially with suggestions on activities very close to the Jaguar rescue centre which is a must see in the area
Beautiful setting and great hosts!
We stayed in the 2 room house which was awesome! The porch with hammocks is completely relaxing, there was plenty of hot water for showers, the kitchen was well appointed, and the decoration and ambience couldn't be better! There were tons of animals too -- frogs, birds, butterflies, howler monkeys! Jessica and Mark are fabulous! They're helpful and knowledgable no matter what our question!
The internet connection was spotty, but worked just fine in the main house. They are in the process of addressing the issue and I must say I didn't mind really. My kids went through a little withdrawal and then spent the rest of the time when it was raining playing card games on the porch and reading!
The staff (Jessica and Marc) are wonderful. They are extremely helpful and make a nice breakfast every morning. They also will help make arrangements with the local companies to set up tours for you to do. The 2 bedroom house is beautiful and bottled water is provided for your stay. The pool is not huge but is perfect to cool off from and not far from the resort is the beach which you can easily walk to. I enjoyed the stay there and would definitely recommend it.
The property is located a bit away from town so you can either borrow a bicycle (which they have some) or take a taxi to town (which Jessica or Marc will call for you). There is no air conditioning in the bedrooms. The Wi-Fi didn't work at the house we stayed in but does work great by the main house.
