Score from 40 reviews Good
The pool was lovely and the swim up bar. Ideally located across from Playa Cocles beach. Very secure (security guards etc)
The staff were sometimes friendly and sometimes not. A little too far from P.V. No TV in our room even though one of the main points on the description of the property says flat screen tv! Shower was useless 'Toiletries provided' was a bar of soap!
Beautiful place, clean, very well kept. Secure. Quiet and private. Located steps away, across the street from the beach. Far enough from downtown Puerto Viejo to be quiet, close enough to walk. Outstanding breakfast buffet.Very friendly and professional staff
Room (Double Deluxe) was a little smaller than expected. The cable TV set up was not exactly user friendly and I could not get it to work in English.
We loved this resort, from the staff to the meals and the accomodations
No potable water unless you bought bottles and the lack of wifi
Very relaxed and nice staff. Pool bar made great cocktails! I would definately recommend this place to other travelers.
Airconditioning and pool area where amazing!
Without a rentalcar you would be screwed here.
The hotel is really nice and clean. Breakfast is included and there was a rich buffet. The hotel is located at the edge of Puerto Viejo, so a little bit out of town, but you have a really nice beach very close to the hotel (5 minutes walk).
It's a little bit far to walk into town. But you can rent bikes or take a taxi.
Pool, jungle environment
I could see & hear the ocean from my bed.The staff (all the staff)went way out of their way for us!The food in the restaurant was excellent & I'm a vegetarian.
The breakfast was very good! The pool bar also very nice! They called us a taxi when we needed it!
Receptionists did not speak english, and one of them in particular was very slow and annoying. The shower had no pressure! There are several areas to be improved!
Wonderful trip, beautiful location and staff were exceptional.
TERRITORY AND ROOM ARRANGEMENT AND DECORATION, LOCATION; PLEASANT QUITE ATMOSPHERE.
BREAKFAST COOKIES; WI-FI DID NOT WORK MOST OF THE TIME
We had a superior bungalow. It appears that they merged two hotels. The units in the front were older and not in the best of shape. But paid the same as the newer units in the back of the complex. Significant ant problem.
Fresh and tasty food. They even made me fresh chicken soup when I had a bad stomach ache. Friendly staff. Good security. Nice people at desk to arrange tours. Good that it's not in town.
If you want to stay in a bungalow -- I recommend staying elsewhere, such as a place that only has bungalows. Cariblue didn't give me the room type I reserved and paid for. I reserved a bungalow and upon checkin was told they were full and they were "upgrading" me to a room next to the ocean (and the road). To me this was not an upgrade. I specifically booked a bungalow because I wanted a freestanding private structure in the jungle. Meanwhile 2 couples walked up and asked for rooms for the night and both were told yes, and one couple was even given keys to 2 different rooms to check out. Basically I had the impression that the hotel staff was lying to my face. After falling asleep to street noise, I was awoken at 8 am to hammering and sawing due to construction. That morning I asked about a room and was told I could have a ground floor room. I said I booked a bungalow. They said it was my fault and that I booked a "standard" bungalow, and not a "superior" bungalow. It was only when I then said I was going to pull up their website and look at the pictures and description of the bungalow that I booked, that they magically found me a room that was in a bungalow-type building. It still wasn't the freestanding bungalow that I booked. It was one half of a bungalow, more like a duplex. But at least it was closer to what i had booked and was paying for, and was set in the jungle.
Location and accommodation were excellent
Lack of service and internet
Didnt get the room I booked cause AC was broken.
The beach is just cross the road, the gardens are beautiful, the swimming pool is in the middle of big trees but yet full of sun! Our bungalow was very well equiped but there are diferent kind of rooms! We've been in other hotels around but find this one is the best.
THE PEOPLE AT FRONT DESK, MARIA, MARY, KATHRINE ETC, YESSENIA TORRES, KATE, THE EGG COOKER AT BREAKFAST,THE MAID FOR 155 AND SERVERS IN RESTAURANT, MASSAGE LADY, CARLA, ALBERON, WHO FIXES THINGS AND CARRIES LUGGAGE TO ROOM AND OTHERS WHOSE NAMES I CANNOT REMEMBER. IT'S NEAR THE OCEAN. A GREAT STAFF.
IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EASIER AND GREAT TO HAVE TWO KEYS FOR THE ROOM, INSTEAD OF ONE.
On Cocles beach which is a bit away from the more chaotic Puerto Viejo which was nice. The bungalow style accommodations were nice, especially being able to read in the hammocks. The bicycle rental was also nice
The bathroom in our room smelled a bit funny, and in general it was sometimes hard to find staff people who could answer questions and address problems quickly.
nice pool and the breakfast good . staff helpful.
as usual bedding had seen better days . Not very clean in actual rooms.
We love the location, the pool, some of the people who serve, the food, bedroom. In general is a great place to stay, however we have to deal with xome renovation process, although that is good because it means that the owners care about the place. Other great aspect is that you have the breakfast included and with a delicious meal, which is excellent as you don't have to worry about that meal. In general is a great hotel that work hard to give you a great experience.
The restaurant service is a little bit to elegant for a beach hotel. I do understand that is a 3 star hotel and that comes with a service expectation, however for us that was a downside. Though I must say excellent food!!!
location pool restaurant
bed to small in lenght (i'm 185m) restaurant closes at 21:00 divan on terras was dirty
The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The hotel grounds were gated and had private parking. The location was a short distance from the beach and about a mile and half from town. They also rent bikes at the hotel for trips to and from town. The landscape and bungalows were unique and private with a beautiful porch. The pool was incredible and had a great poolside bar (try their pina coladas!).
We were expecting a king sized bed in the superior suite but ended up with two fulls. They weren't the comfiest bed but it was a place to sleep. The rooms are minimal but given the nice weather the we didn't spend much time outside of sleeping in the room. It would have been nice to have screens on the windows to keep the bugs out.
All in this hotel was nice, beautiful and amaizing. I really can recomended this hotel.
The best hotel on Cocles. Very nice rooms, spacious and clean. Very nice pool area with pool bar, beach is just across the road 2 min walking, good food in restaurant, tasty breakfast.
Lack of at least small fridge in the room.
Lovely hostel, nice swimming pool
Poor level of english Too high level of security makes me feel "watched"
