If you like wildlife you'll like it here
Kitchen not big enough or well equipped enough for everyone to cook at the same time. One cooker well passed it's sell by date! Enjoyed our short stay.
Very friendly people the will do the best to make your stay as good as possible
To smal sheets on the bed
I loved waking up in the jungle. We could hear the howler monkeys from our room. The property is beautiful. The rooms are clean and beautiful. They offered a big breakfast for only $5 each morning which was awesome and delicious especially for the budget traveler. The staff was very nice and helpful. It's a bit of a walk to get into town but we didn't mind. It was actually nice to be set apart from everything. Plus on our walk into town we saw monkeys and two sloths on the way. Also if you don't want to walk you could take a bus into town or a cab for about 4000 colones. We stayed at 6 hostels during our trip and this one was definitely a favorite.
atmosphere is amazing garden full of animals (tucan, butterflies etc.) breakfast
you better have a car or rent a bike because it is located a few kilometers away from Puert Viejo
areas to relax kitchen bedroom
Personal was very helpful in every aspect
Hostel price, hotel feel. As soon as we walked in we received so much info for the rest of our trip. We took advantage of cheap laundry service, yummy breakfast, bike rentals, and they booked our shuttle to panama for us! Our beds were remade and everything was constantly being cleaned. It was nice and quiet, as it is tucked back off the main road. At night bring a flashlight! Overall really positive experience. Felt safe and clean and welcoming. The staff is awesome and goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Also they have a huge watchdog who will cuddle you once he knows you're a guest. We saw an awesome sloth in a tree in the driveway!
Tom, the guy in charge. A really nice guy always recommending what to do around. He even call before getting there to check on us and give instructions on how to get there.
nice in forest
Great location Breakfast Atmosphere Owners
Matresses in our room were not really comfy
- great location aside the road in the bush - great common relaxing area with hammoks and loungechairs - good breakfast, pancakes, french toast and eggs/beacon, fruits. - fully equipped common kitchen and dining area - if you want to grab some food: choose the restaurant 'Djungle Love'! - really nice french hosts! - a little bit hard to find, but we got an discription from the host in advance, which helped us find the B&B. So ask per mail before you arrive and you will get a great discription! - save parking lot - near a really nice and quiet small beach (10-15 minutes by foot) - you shouldn´t be afraid of dogs, because Pipo is not 'petite' but really nice
- in the daytime loud working nearby - windows of our room were to the parking lot/courtyard and the common area
Service, location and rooms! Huge rooms, with hamacas and everything you need! Amazing place!
It would be nice if they have a bicicle renting service because they are not that close to the town center!
Nice room with comfortable bed. The location is nice, close to the beautiful beach of Uve.
The large dog is friendly, but smelly. Having a pais breakfast with the odor of the dog nearby is not recommended.
Extreamly hard to find ... No sogn on road ... Had to ask several people ... Almost gave up
The entire atmosphere at Casa Moabi is very welcoming; family-owned, personal, friendly, clean, smart. The owners are always super helpful and do everything they can to ensure you get the most out of your stay. This applies even to matters beyond accommodation (repairs, cooking ingredients, activities). Their super delicious breakfast is a must-try.
We had a wonderful time at Casa Moabi. The place was beautiful and the owner really friendly and helpful. Our second floor jungle bungalow was clean and spacious with a great deck overlooking the forest. At night you could hear the howler monkeys in the trees! We would definitely go there again.
There was no signage for Casa Moabi on the main street in Puerto Viejo and we drove by several times before finally calling for directions.
We had a great time here. The place was super clean and accommodating. The beds were not the most comfortable but manageable and you can nap on the beach or hammocks during the day. Tom is a great host. He was helpful in organizing activities and calling for taxis. He allows use of the kitchen for cooking which is nice since its not close to restaurants, just Malbec which is pricey. They clean the room and put fresh towels daily. This was the cleanest place we stayed at in Puerto Viejo. The air conditioning was a plus as it rained hard while we were there and the ac kept the room dry and allowed us to dry out our clothes. I can't speak for the other buildings but we stayed in the main building in a room for 3(1 queen and 1 twin bed) and it was spacious enough with storage space. There were also almost zero bugs. The only ones that came in were when we left the door open.
The location is a toss up. On the one hand it is nice and peaceful and feels great to be a part of the jungle but on the other it is far from town and a decent bike ride to the beach. Takes about 25 mins to bike to town at a leisurely pace and a 4-5mil taxi ride each way. Takes about 15 mins to bike to beach and would be a long, steamy hot walk. There is a grocery store about a 5 min bike ride away. At first we weren't sure about the location but we ended up really enjoying it so it was worth spending the money on taxis.
Extremely helpful staff (thanks Lukas!) All wishes were catered for. Genuine jungle feeling. Great resident dog! We can definitely recommend this place
The property is beautiful and well equipped, the staff is lovely and hospitable, it felt very safe, we saw toucans from the porch, just a short bike ride to town and a quick walk to the beach, very close to a grocery store and great restaurants (jungle love is amazing), very close to the jaguar rescue center which is an awesome animal rehab facility...would definitely stay here again!!!!
Interesting concept like camping feel.
All my friends got some insect bites sleeping in the middle floor of the open hut. Despite using off and raid deep woods and mosquitoe nets.
It's an amazing place, very friendly staff, the atmosphere is great. The rooms are not fancy, but very nice and neat. The garden around is very beautiful and the location is conveniently close to Puerto Viejo and at the same time in the middle of the forest.
Staff was really friendly and helpful
Great location, very friendly staff. Price wise you can't ask for more.
Airconditioning needs servicing, room smelled awful after turning it on. And the fluorescent light bulbs in the bedroom. Not exactly an inviting atmosphere. Cheap to replace and gives a much better impression.
Great lodge, great people.
Distance to the centre of Puerto Viejo.
The closeness to nature and open air in all rooms, the breakfast.
Being put into hostel accommodation on arrival. No ceiling fan in main bed area.
